Voted NO today. I live in California. i grow and make a lot of money doing it, why would i want it legal? I would lose a lot of money b/c there would be so much supply and prices would go down. Yes there is lots of supply already but also lots of demand. all this is, is the government cashing in. sad so many idiots cant see that.

How is you cashing in any better than the government? Aside from this, as has already been stated COUNTLESS times, COUNTLESS people will continue to go to prison for carrying the flower which you make money off of.

Selfish.

Well betty Id have to say that would rather a fellow grower collect money from the proceeds of MJ than a government body. At least with a grower getting paid I know the money will be filtered back into the community unlike with the govt. , which has had countless monetary discrepancies with the public. Why is it that people think the govt is gonna act any different about this than anything else they handle. There will be abuse of power, Money misused, and scandals. If you dont believe me look at all the politicians who were over paying them selves during this economic crisis, particularly in California. If you all think things are gonna change with this you are wrong.
For me Id rather have the penalty of jail hung over my head for growing than a restriction on what I love to do.
I didn't come here to argue so disagree if you like, for me this is a ethical code issue and I believe by saying yes to prop 19 id be breaking my code of ethics

While I do agree, I would rather see the cultivator make profit, the greed is no different in either case.

And you'd really rather go to prison than be able to grow legally? Do you think all laws are perfect as soon as they are voted upon? That's what amendments are for, friend.

And if I "think" things are going to change? More as if I know things are going to change; I know people won't be going to jail for something they shouldn't, I know it would be the stepping stone for other states as well as the rest of the world quite possibly to legalize cannabis.

I just simply don't understand how people can think the chance of prison is worth the money. Have you never watched "Locked Up"? Prison is fucking terrible.

If Prop 19 passes ICmag would be wise to charge any new members after today a monthly fee for access to growing forums.

Putting one's livelihood ahead of others freedom is an oppressive stance; I wonder what your opinion would be if you were writing from behind bars. Hmmm...

And, I don't think it would need to be a matter of you losing ALL of your business or being bankrupted, would it? Sure, the need to work smarter and harder will be as present as ever, but seeing as how you already make so much money growing pot, I'll assume you're good at what you do and stand a chance of surviving. ;)

I have a gut feeling this ain't gonna fly though folks...Americans are too brainwashed to make a true, positive change in large numbers.

Don't live in Cali but of course I am hoping for it to pass as a start to nationwide referendums.

It is frustrating to see people wanting it to fail so they can make a lotta money. And I thought I was kinda greedy....There's 49 other states you can move to and make mad money or step up your grow to make up the difference...

or better yet, I wish they'd believe in what's "right".

No I don't wish that those of you that disagree with me get busted if it stays illegal...that wouldn't be right. You don't deserve that. But nobody does that that's the point to me.

Regardless of my opinion, exit polls right now show the measure failing.

Hopefully they're wrong.

It might not be a perfect bill, but it is THE BEST we got here in America, and will surely get our feet in the door to make better changes and amendments to this bill....The time is now... I really, honestly hope this passes, if not it will be a very, very sad day for the Cannabis Culture..... Not only that, It will tell the rest of the country that pot is bad and even the liberal folks in Cali didn't want to pass Prop 19....The rest of the states don't understand why some growers dont want this to pass, all they will see is a NO vote from Liberal Cali, which in turn feeds the ego of the opposition....

I have a feeling, hopefully I'm wrong, but if this bill doesn't pass, we will miss the boat.

I don't live in Cali, I live on the other side of the Country, Were i'm from, a nickle-bag will get me thrown in jail....so yeah, VOTE YES! Getr the law changed, WHILE AMERICA is watching, then make amendments later......this is a great situation for America and Cali to be in, but for some reason, I feel like Cali is squandering the opportunity. Please show me I'm wrong.

I guess we, as well as the Nation will soon find out, exactly what the future of Cannabis is in the United States..... I hope everyone makes the right decision.

This is one of the biggest historical moments of our life times, right under MLK, 9-11, JFK etc.

I agree with pretty much all you said.

It's a shame, however, that there's some greedy assholes who would rather make a few bills and see their fellow cannabis enthusiasts rot in jail.

It just fucking baffles me.

Prop. 19 headed to defeat, exit polls show
November 2, 2010 | 8:32 pm

California voters appear to have rejected Prop. 19, an effort to legalize marijuana and allow local governments to tax the sale of the drug.

Prop. 19 received national attention, but relatively little money was spent on the campaign. While millions of dollars was spent on other ballot measures, the Prop. 19 campaign was modest by California political standards. Still, no issue received more attention around the state.

The measure was opposed by law enforcement groups and elected officials from both political parties.

U.S. Atty. Gen. Eric Holder had said the Obama administration would "vigorously enforce" federal drug laws against Californians who grow or sell marijuana for recreational use even if voters passed the legalization measure.

The Times is projecting Proposition 19's defeat based on preliminary information from the National Voter Pool survey, conducted for The Times by Edison Research. The National Voter Pool is a consortium of the major television news networks and the Associated Press. The survey was conducted at 50 polling places among roughly 2,200 election day voters and was supplemented by a telephone survey of roughly 600 voters who cast ballots by mail.
