Wild Hemp, Ruderalis, or a useless shrub?

So I topped one of them and rubbed the leaves and there is an undeniably strong fresh and zesty cucumber skin scent. With a bit of over-ripe tomato and peppercorn on the back-end

I think it is an expectorant. Do not worry my homies I do not plan to eat it. I do want to know what it is. What if it was an ugly bastard child of hemp hundreds of years removed?

Okay the smell I was having trouble identifying: the overall body of the scent is ivy

Does anyone else think he'll be smoking that by the end of the weekend?

It’s not hemp or ruderalis, I’ve grown both of those. Leaves are not serrated, so if related to cannabis it’s not in the recent past.

Some plants are a real problem depending on how ingested.

Comfrey for instance, can be applied externally but if eaten can cause liver damage because of pyrollizidine alkaloids that can damage liver and lungs and cause cancer.

I am going to feed it until it seeds so I can haz great guerrilla camo.

I have ruled out the 'Salsola' genus. Though a number of those specie would also provide great camo. The leaves and the branching together are throwing me off.

When Phylos gives me my prize for rediscovering the original Mexican Ruderalis I am never coming back. Never!

This is not the plant but since I brought up the Salsola genus check out the Salsola tetrandra Forssk

Lots of other gems in Salsola for camo

I suspect the plant to be 'waterhemp'

Amaranthus tuberculatus, commonly known as roughfruit amaranth, rough-fruited water-hemp, or tall waterhemp, is a species of flowering plant.

There is another plant nearby that is for a fact waterhemp so I think the unidentified plant might be of the same family.

Not yet ruling out some old-world pheno of true hemp.

I got my money on the plant in question being:

AMARANTHUS CANNABINUS

But still not ruling out traditional hemp due to it's more related characteristics to hemp than even this plant.

Thoughts?

I was not lying about having a topped head of it drying on my desk after hand-rubbing it for a sniff.

This allowed it to dry very fast over night and after taking a lighter to the plant matter and blowing out the flame to smell the smoke there is a very distinct skunk and classical marijuana smell. Maybe I am confusing this with some type of wild sage or the amaranthus cannabinus. Very aromatic and nice smell nonetheless. Reminds me of a crappy bag of weed smell from the days of grade school. Overall skunky and "marijuana" scent.

Burning a larger quantity of it with a hotter coal produced a very similar smell to Durban poison. Frankincense, jasmine, and cedar. Full of wonderful oils. Seriously I would want this burning in a hot sauna to relax

If the plant is in fact "waterhemp, aka pigweed," then a few interesting points:

The entire plant is edible, eaten as spinach for example.
Medical value used in tea,
Glyphosate (Monsanto) can not kill it, this only makes it stronger.

Unless someone knows precisely what this is I will continue speculation and continue feeding the plant to seed just for future seedstock sake, guerrilla camo etc
