lol

yes well of course that won't be right now, almost all countries across the globe have racked up military spending over the last couple of years

those figures were for 2005

if the link I posted wauy back was too left wing for you, just find a right wing think tank and look at their figures, it won't be far off I assure you

What I'm saying is that I'm not so sure that figure for the US represents "% of our tax dollars"

It represents "% of government spending"

Which is different than our taxes.

it is the % of your total federal taxes which the government spends on the military, there is nothing tricky about it, just follow the link for further explanation

The wording states "% government spending"

I find it hard to believe that equates to "% federal taxes"

Sorry if I mislead anyone with my first posts in this thread, that was not my intention.

I realise I have issues I need to sort out. I'm in the process of resolving these.

Gelatinous - Wow, you've really brought this thread down. Being open minded and listening to what other people have to say can really make you see things in a new light, if you're willing. I guess they saying "Ignorance is bliss" could really apply to some of the people in this thread though.

Gangabiss - Sounds like you know what you want, and you're on your way to getting it. Good luck!

I'm currently in a community college, and I hate the idea of going to a University and paying 10x as much for an education where the proffessors care less about you. I will end up going there, only because there is so much more of a selection of classes there. I'm not going to college to get the piece of paper that says I did, I'm going there to learn things that will help me live my life the way I want. I feel like the people going to school with that objective are in the minority, and it's sad. So many people think if you don't go to college, you can't be successful. I say that's a load of bull. Maybe if you want to work in the corporate world and be like everyone else you need to go, but I don't want to be like everyone else. I want to enjoy my life and my job.

If you think like everyone else, and do what everyone else does, how can you expect to live a different life than everyone else? Be different.

Are you blind or just thick? Do you even read what I type or are you just in your own little world, imagining what you like to be true?

I've said multiple times that I don't mooch off my parents and I'm moving out in 2 months at which time I will be off welfare all together. DO YOU UNDERSTAND??

Sorry for the aggresiveness but that tends to happen to me when I'm backed into a corner by an idiot.

Fuck...
No need to get angry, I think I just misunderstood or somethin.

Thanks for the -k, but I think I just misunderstood.

I'm 100% open minded, and we're all just putting out our opinions.

I'm too confused at the moment to know what everyone's individual situation is, or what I've said to bring this thread "down," but I still stand by my opinion that if you're takin' welfare with no intention of getting a job or working, that's stealin'...

Well I guess what I'm saying is -

the rating of a healthcare system can be done in many ways, in regard to certain characteristics.

So the US may have high malpractice, yet it has great technology and low waiting lines.

So how one rates a healthcare system can vary greatly, resulting in very different interpretations of why one healthcare system is better than another.

It just depends on how heavily you weigh certain characteristics of a healthcare sys over other characteristics of a healthcare system.

One person may consider malpractice #s to have more importance than technology or waiting lines, or vice versa.

Why Work?

1. I like to drive DEPENDABLE vehicles
2. I like to be able to buy nice things for my wife and kids
3. I like to have money in the bank for accidents or unseen bills
4. I like to support myself and family, not mooch of the goverment
5. Working gives one a sense of accomplishment and responsibility.. which I see not much of with the under 25 crowd these days. To bad they don't realize they are tools used by the goverments to raise taxes of those who support your lazy ass.
6. I like to take vacations to places I havent been and not have to worry about where my next meal or mortgage payment is coming from.

I could go on and on. It's sad to see this shit on ICmag. All you people not wanting to work casue Daddy had it bad, or your just to fuggin lazy. Get over it and grow the hell up. Your an embaressment to your family.

Another reason Stoners get a bad rap. You dumb fucks are playing right into the anti MJ propaganda and cant even see it.

But Hell, I'm an old fucker that came from a family of proud American's that liked to work hard and play hard. And that is a thing of the past.

Thanks Red145,

Shit like this kills me, I just put my foot in my sons ass about a similiar attitude on working.

And M Jazz has a good point too. Everyone is using a "crutch" to get away from what they don't want to do these days.

Maybe I've misunderstood, but I don't plan on "working" for more than the next 6 years of my life (I'm 20.) I refuse to take a career that I see as work, if I don't want to wake up and do whatever I'm doing everyday, then it's not going to waste 3/4 of my life. I will do something I love, most likely make a lot of money doing it because I will be passionate about it, and love living my life. Screw the people that think "the system sucks, but you have to be part of it to succeed". I won't, and I will be better off than everyone that thinks they need to be part of that "system".

I've worked since I was legally able to, and I've been employed full time since I was a junior in High School. I've chosen jobs that I have a good time doing and pay well, and it hasn't been all that hard. Working for a family member who owns a foresting business, I got to be outside every day, worked from about 7am until 3pm, got the rest of the day/night to do whatever I wanted, and got paid good money to do it. Now I'm in school, delivering pizza. It's the best money you'll make in this town, easily. I work 30~ hours a week in a matter of 2 or 3 days, and the rest of the week I can do anything I want. It's all my time. I make about twice the money I need to pay bills and stuff, so it's not like I'm living the bum life.

I don't plan on doing this after I'm done with school, but I'll be doing something along those lines. So many people have ridiculed me, but I have no doubt in my mind that in 10 years, and most likely for the rest of my life, I'll be much better off then every one of the people that have doubted me.

Gangabiss - You know what you want to do, and you're on your way to doing it. That's so much more than many people can say, and I applaud you for that. So what if you're on welfare? If you've paid into the government, you have every right to take out of it. Now if you had never had a job and been on welfare your whole life I'd have a little different opinion, but that's not the case. Like I said before, good luck.

haha - you couldn't make this up bro!

is it not just a tad telling that that was top of your list?

the great thing about the change of attitude happening among the under 25s in affluent countries - from Tokyo to Berlin, London to LA etc - this massive disillusionment, is just how appropriate it is to our time:

can I advise you take the younger generations seriously for just a moment, if you can stomach it?

you ask why? I mean they are just kids right? lol - they have way more time to think than you do - and they see what's coming, they see where it's going, they see what they are set to inherit from your generation!

they've been raised in a very different context, so kids these days have a vastly more expansive perspective on life than your typical hard working status-obsessed middle-aged man - purblind, ignorant nose to the grindstone jobsworths

in 50 years time do you think people will be driving those same "dependable" cars you talk of?

and if not - what is so dependable about it? nothing brother, nothing whatever

the next 10 years are going to be a mad scramble to sustain a way of life and a culture that is on the way out no matter what

no wonder the plutocrats are shitting their pants in this mad rush for oil

ha I tell you mate, the stakes are changing fast - your way of life is on the way out, and faster than is likely comfortable for you to realise

and truth be told - I say - bring it on!
