and how is Nasa having 1 root_nameserver "E" (ns.nasa,gov) any reason for them trying to get into my computer? I understand that some information is exchanged between the most unlikely of sources, but why try to access my computer?? and each time youve posted that Verite i've read it back over and again. but still questions are left unanswered.......

by the way the dude that called me from ICANN told me that NASA SHOULD NOT BE ATTEMPTING TO ACCESS MY COMP...so dont you think i should be somewhat worried??

Just be happy your security measures stopped the intrusion and let it go. Plus theres nothing saying that the IP wasnt spoofed and it was someone else trying to hack you. Its amazing how many people run cable and DSL modems directly to their PCs with *no* firewall rules in place and *every* port open that you could imagine. Your experience is a testament to why everyone (esp. people in questionable online hobbies) needs firewalls, both hardware and software.

ok SERIOUS update....so i kinda freaked out and called the prez of ICANN that night that it happened left him a message....got a message back today while i was at work...

Basically they are just a link....kinda like torrent search engines, dont really do anything just link users to users. Well it turns out that the IP adress i quoted which was the one that tried to F**K with my comp was NASA...(I.P. 129168.1.101 check it out yourself if you dont believe me.) also they told me that their sister company IANA (check them out too if your doubtfull) was involed and if it linked back to IANA it was a spoofed or faked IP....

WTF why would a government funded SPACE PROGRAM of a foriegn government( U.S.A., FUCK YOU REBULICANS) be trying to access a P.C. ....especially as mine hasnt even been up and running a full year....

IF you dont beleive me thats cool, but depending on the respons i get from NASA, i will be going to a local MAJOR paper, as 1. i have proof on my phone msg and call display, and the records on my system.....
2. they have better resources than i do and more $$
3. i think they would gobble up a story of NASA trying to hack their neighbours computers...sounds like a scandal....

Alright, to clear some things up. 129168.1.101 is not an ip address, 129.168.1.101 is, and yes it is a NASA address. however, the fact that the address ends in .168.1.101 leads me to believe you really saw 192.168.1.101 which is a computer LAN address on almost all networks.

Most standard LAN networks the router ip is 192.168.1.1 and the computers range anywhere from 192.168.1.100-254. assuming you have 2 computers on your network, you can be *.100 or *.101. It depends what computer synchs with the router first.

Calm down, its ok, NASA is not trying to access your computer =)
