Why do the most popular varieties come from American breeders?

It's not all chips and beer here though. We have the ignorant here too and sometimes they end up running the country.

My best friend is American. We have awesome debates at his cabin (cottage for canadians). But honestly, I haven't *ever run across a stereotypical "murican". And I travel a lot. Much more than most. I've met Americans everywhere from California (coachella & desert trip) to NYC. Central and South America and across Asia. Nothing but good vibes and friendly people, and certainly welcoming. One even thanked me for taking in all the people redirected to Newfoundland during 9/11 when air space was closed. I said "I don't live...." "Doesn't matter. Thank you anyway." That's the America I've experienced.

Trump is right about one thing. The media is evil. They want to outdo each other with terrible stories just to make more money.
Television is like that, “conservative” talk radio is like that, Alex Jones is like that. I have no particular fondness for CNN, I think they’re mostly harmless, but I wouldn’t listen to Wolf Blitzer any more than I would listen to Tucker Carlson (for different reasons, true).

If they don’t cite actual news gathering and fact-checking and public records, then it’s just more noise. Check up on the sources of the people you rely on, make sure it’s not another circle-jerk before you join in.

Aussies & Kiwis are, by my estimation, some of the friendliest folks around, so they get treated nice. although they DO get pissed if you mistake one for the other because of their accents, LOL! the "typical idiot American" normally does not travel any further than the closest beach (Myrtle), Gatlinburg, or Disney World in their lifetime; which i am thankful for. it is all we can do to live down the embarrassment they cause us here in THIS country by throwing trash out the car window, emptying their ashtray at red lights, driving 45 mph in the fast lane on the interstate etc...
The relationship between NZ and Australia seems to be a lot like the relationship between USA and Canada.

Sort of a Laurel & Hardy kind of relationship, with USA and Australia in the respective Hardy roles...

One could make the argument that the popular varieties come from American breeders as america has dictated popular culture for a long time. Those are some long reaching tentacles. Our weed celebrities are the weed celebs of the world and people are lookin at snoop dog for guidance (lol we all gonna die). While the cannabis connoisseurs of the internet might turn their nose up at what the mass market puts out, obviously it is selling. The breeders in any given country arent better than others, it is just that the US based ones have a better mouthpiece for their marketing.

I expressed shock recently at the enormous amount of unused concentrate being burned off all around me at a gathering recently.

One would’ve thought I’d shit in the canna berries...they were shocked that I would suggest that they offer up less than their best to their friends. Okay, but that’s a lot of medicine not helping to heal somebody.

I think it’s the same sort of self-absorption that you’re talking about, being out of touch

Yes, Nevil is Australian and so is Shantibaba. :tiphat:

G `day Trout

They are both from Western Australia .
Virtually a different country to the East Coast .

Nevil has dual citizenship through his Dutch parents .
That`s how he was able to avoid extradition to the USA . The Oz gov were ready to hand him over . Nevil got bail and fled back to Holland where he could not be extradited to the USA to face 5 life sentences by the FBI .

My basic understanding of extradition treaties is that it has to be a crime in both countries . Selling seeds in Holland was legal at the time .

Nevil`s state side distributors did get busted .We never hear about those martyrs .

Thanks for sharin

You're on the money there mate. The US takes everything popular from Canada then says it's theirs, just like Aussies take everything good from NZ and say it's theirs. They can keep Russell Crow though...

They can take a joke better than Americans though. ;)

Beasters,
that stuff was so gnarly and industrial that I used to wonder if the BC actually stood for Bogata Colombia and it was being shipped in with the coke.

Because people in California can grow "indoor strains" outdoors. The US weed market is thriving too, which means we have lots of professional growers, producing much larger amounts of bud overall.

Contrary to what you may have heard, quality of finished products is important to large producers too, not just backyard growers.

Edit: What's with the Xenophobia in the weed scene!? Grapefruit Diesel, Romulan, and Godbud are awesome, Thanks Canadia. Silver Haze, Jack, and White Widow are like childhood friends, thanks Netherlands!

Thanks Canada that Friesland indica and Freezeland (Friesland indica x Pluton2) are still around.Nothing is to be found in Holland from the day of the Super Sativa Club.

What is sold for Durban poison is probably Durban x Skunk, finish much later and is mold sensitive.
