OMG 😱. That’s amateur hour 🤦🏻‍♂️. I can see why think builders are not considered skilled

I never claimed to be a builder. I designed and built it to code myself. You said I've never had a toolbelt implying that I had no knowledge of construction. I proved you wrong. That was just something I planned out in about an hour. If I wanted to look into the dynamics of constructing an entire house and designing my own I could it would just take longer. And yes I could figure out the specs for a Hip and Valley roof with a couple hours of study. I'm a fast learner. Plenty of information and examples online.

It's much more complicated than a simple awning but it's just angles. If you understand the geometry and the math it's not difficult.

Construction is an admirable trade. It's hard work. I did one of the more physically demanding jobs being a Hod Carrier but I also worked in other aspects of construction for a small amount of time. I decided I would rather use my brain rather than end up tearing my body up like all the older guys I worked with had. So I got into technology.

My point exactly. You don’t give a shit about American workers. Only what will affect you. You think you’re so smart but you’re about to have some foreigners come do it for cheaper.
If your job was that skilled, you couldn’t be replaced.

You’re about to reap what you sowed. Let me know how it feels to have your job threatened. By the way, your picture is proof that it’s not as easy as watching a YouTube video.

I've been in IT for 25 years. I've worked alongside those with H1-B Visas. I'm semi-retired working on projects from time to time and working as an IT consultant for some long time clients when needed. I'm not worried about being replaced.

And just what did I reap? You make no sense. You're critique of the diagram I posted shows that YOU don't know nearly as much about Hip and Valley roofs as you make it seem. In fact I've probably learned more than you know in just a few minutes of research. You don't design anything. You follow plans that were drawn up by people like me with knowledge of the math and geometry required to design a structure. You're just a grunt on the jobsite.

Really these days you can watch a few YouTube videos and you'll do alright. A while back I ended up seeing a guy on YouTube that started a handyman business with no real life experience, he just learned from YouTube and he's doing alright he's definitely a little bit of a hack, but he does better than some.

As long as you're not stupid or really weak you can build a house yourself, it's pretty simple even electrical work, doesn't get much easier than electricity, just dangerous if you don't know what you're doing, I find myself triple checking occasionally to make sure it's not hot. Lol, fire extinguisher not too far away just in case too. I hate plumbing but it's fairly simple too.

Problem is it's too simple, that's why the Mexicans are taking over. We have electricians that can't speak English. Lol

Not hard to see who musk really is. He's already bought and paid for the candidate he's endorsing in another country. He needs a German trump to keep those pesky workers from unionizing and demanding decent wages.

Elon Musk doubles down on AfD support and urges people not to liken party's leader to Hitler

Elon Musk has doubled down on his support for Germany's hard-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in an opinion piece for Welt am Sonntag newspaper, calling it the "last spark of hope" for the country and urges people not to liken the party's leader to Adolf Hitler.

If you can read a blueprint which is easy then you can build a house. Once the foundation is in place it's up up and away.

While I'm not a proponent of lower paid workers replacing higher paid workers in any industry, the construction industry is much different than the high tech industry. Much of the labor savings in construction benefit the home buyer with lower housing prices. At a time when housing prices are causing home ownership to become nothing but a dream for many Americans many are looking for any relief they can get.

Replacing high tech workers with H-1B Visas does not offer any benefit to the average American. Any savings goes to shareholders like musk and increased salaries for the top executives.

The comparison some are trying to make is apples and oranges. Very dissimilar situations. One provides financial benefit to those that need it while one only provides benefit to a few that don't. It nothing but greed. It doesn't lower the cost of the product for the consumer.

Lower waged construction workers doesn't lower the price of housing, it makes more money for the owners of those construction companies. They're not offering a lower price for construction because they don't pay their workers as much.

Tech and trades doesn't matter all the savings goes to the top, same with farmers, have you seen them farmers who employ immigrants to pick fruit?? Multi millionaires, they could afford to pay Americans $15-20 an hour to pick these fruits, but the owner would not be a millionaire, he'd be doing well, just no mansion. Look at Tyson, General Mills, they own vast majority of foods we buy prices keep going up, wages stay low, they're making record profits. I've talked to people who worked for General Mills they don't want to keep the higher paid guys that have been there for years, they want fresh cheap labor starting from the bottom. They hire pedophiles straight out of prison for $15 an hour. Lol

Tech is no different, they're all crooks, they all want cheaper labor and they always charge higher prices.

It was just a coding error. trump was programmed with the wrong data. He's now been updated.

2016

At a 2016 primary debate, however, Trump called the H-1B visa program “very bad” and “unfair” for U.S. workers.

“First of all, I think and I know the H-1B very well. And it’s something that I frankly use and I shouldn’t be allowed to use it. We shouldn’t have it,” he said.

Trump backs H-1B visas, aligning with Musk on immigration

President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday threw his weight behind H-1B visas, taking the side of Elon Musk in the squabble among conservatives over the program that allows foreigners with technical skills to temporarily work in the United States.

“I’ve always liked the visas. I have always been in favor of the visas,” He added: “I have many H-1B visas on my properties. I’ve been a believer in H-1B. I have used it many times. It’s a great program.”

does this apply to the millions of unskilled illegal immigrants that is the subject of debate?

What debate are you talking about? trump bent to musk's will on the H-1B issue. That's what we've been discussing. In 2016 trump said he was against them. In 2024 after President musk said he'd go to war over them trump says he's always liked them. He loves them now. In fact he thinks we need even more.

i think he wants the whole country to suffer and become one giant portland , and that will make him content .

Maybe. One thing for sure is he thinks skilled labor are not smart so they deserve to have there jobs taken by lower paid migrants. Only the smart people deserve to have good jobs

and raise the minimum wage for the tax paying low skilled man so he loses any chance of a job, and then goes onto the state system as he has no opportunity , and then pretend said potential worker is not interested in the job and give the job to the illegal migrant instead , who has no rites and undercut the minimum wage they impose on the legal citizen .
