saffron is still like $1800 a pound and 6+ dollars a gram...

Prices of Ganja will never tank like some of you think ...

6 hours of being high from weed... hell no... unless your 14 years old smoking BHO for the first time... Bombest herb doesn't even keep me stoned for an hour

^^ only from the too young to have smoked in the '70's crowd. :)

many man-made indoor strains have potency issues including duration of high and tolerance buildup issues

no point in arguing. try golden tiger. up to 6 hour high effects for me during the day and always at least 3+ hrs. and no tolerance build up issues. extremely potent. landraces baby. not all landraces, but some landraces. yes, ss does have the iranian indica landrace so he is familiar with some landraces.

i'm now getting pretty good yields from od guerrilla grows:

^ never watered, cared for. outdoors in the middle of nowhere. think hundreds of thousands of these and you see the impact correct genetics and proper outdoor growing technique will have on the market.

^^ how it's done. transplanting to outdoors is now obsolete for the large scale commercial grows.

Legal pot will cost money... They will regulate the crap out of it like they do any business sector. You might be allowed to grow primo pot in your backyard, for personal use, best case scenario. But selling that legally? No way.
Think licenses, approved materials from equipment to soil and feeds, insurance, packaging, lab tests, tons of paperwork, etc etc.
A huge milk cow for whoever is pulling the strings.

Then the price of primo bud will be further determined by question and demand... Will there be big players focusing on what might be a niche market? Or will they churn out dirt cheap ok quality buds making higher quality a luxury product?
What about the huge huge surface now used for hash production, when weed becomes legal.
Imagine the tons of weed they could export!

It's gonna be a global market!!! Other countries that are able to grow clean MJ will export to USA! Smoking high grade is not the only market, there will be other uses for high grade! If USA wants to Mickey Mouse around its doesn't matter other countries are moving forward!

Idiit I agree totally!! We had far more PHD?'s in MJ back then better weed but it was also easier, the pest & disease issues didn't really hit the veg & fruit farmers until bout 10 years ago, its been getting worse every year! I have genetics similar to GT but I had to rework because modern day smokers are too caught up on cosmetics.

sprinkl I watched my stuff go for 25$ a gram in the ghetto! I had a hooker friend that would take a pound break it up, it was gone in a few hours! After a week of this I got scared and stopped because the whole neighborhood knew who I was. If the ghetto will pay what they cannot afford I assure you the wealthy will pay whatever we ask!! The upperclass world wide has gotten so wealthy over the 10 years they don't care what anything cost! No fucking way am I gonna end up like the poor high end coffee farmer who makes less than high school kids @ Starbucks!

bag appeal is everything in some markets. i've found that gt gets a pass; ppl hear meao thai, malawi, see the big fairly dense nugs (after cure) and give it a try. they usually complain too potent but with respect.

^ try college grads@starbucks. :)

look. we all have a skill that pays. this web site has really helped me up my game. i don't have to go work for slave wages. nice.

the ghetto is a fantastic market for good weed that doesn't have great bag appeal. od grows for me are almost all profit, no real investment $costs to recoup. bringing that per gram cost down to the public moves weight. just have to have to set up distribution so the supplier is safe from the street thugs and the poo poo.

in SoCal...it doesn't matter if you have a 24 week 1 hitter quitter super Thai Sativa

If it looks like stringy airy old school hippy weed.... you wont find too many people eager to cash u out for 20+elbows ... maybe 1 or 2

Indoor dank...aka OG Kush and its closest family members will always dominate the consumers pallet until its removed from its throne... many years and counting... no one is even close to doing that...

People love dense...colors....bling....smell....and taste all of them = OG KUSH

I have some of the rarest genetics on the face of the planet... I still prefer my OG Kush #1 over anything else I puff on...

90% of OG Kush is grown like crap...str8 doo doo.... when you grow it right... you cannot grow enough!!! people all over the country cannot supply enough of it to the streets aka consumers...

Best customers are those with $$$$$... they wont nickel and dime you on everything ... I love my Newport Coast scene

why do people think this shit?? do you grow in the woods on someone else's property?? you should see my expense sheets for running my moderately sized outdoor garden, only 99 plants... think 50k a year at least in investments and infrastructure. and then another 50k a year in labor alone.

i have a 8 person crew right now for takedown and 4 hand trimmers. they are costing me at least 1500 a day, sometimes up to 2k a day. thats gonna go on for around 2 weeks at least, with a smaller crew working the better part of 6 weeks.

not trying to single you out, maybe you just dont know better. most people who say things like this have never run a commercial scale garden.

i can show you some costs of running a 30 acre vineyard as well at over 100k in grow and pest management, labor for pruning and harvest, infrastructure, just to recoup a 160k gross revenue harvest.. labor is the most expensive cost out there unless you want to handpick and trim a 99 plant harvest all by yourself…ALL AGRICULTURE COSTS MONEY. no way around it.

^^ that's my quote. it's the truth. yes, i grow on commercially owned property that is undeveloped, not some regular guy's personal property.

trimming is the biggest cost if i get big. i do my own at present.

^ i believe that's a true statement. bag appeal is almost impossible to match outdoors of what you guys run.

1). the game is going to change. a major grow will be tens/hundreds/thousands of acres. outdoor grown landraces will have their niche and there will always be a niche for your great indoor product.

2). the present outdoor strains for commercial grow could use substantial improvement in the bag appeal department. head over to my albums and see that i'm working on that problem. not there yet but making considerable headway. i've seen outdoor grown bud that has considerable bag appeal. the best outdoor grown landraces rock when it comes to performance.

3). i believe from reading the different threads that outdoor grown strains are already having a major impact on the market and i strongly suspect it has just a small taste of what's to come.

well, you pretty much summed it up. "If i get big"…you haven't grown big so you dont know the costs involved. so to say "no investments" to recoup is just insanely wrong. go into the growing big outdoor plants thread and ask everybody how they are doing spending no money. 30k on soil alone, with another 20k projected for 2015 (good farmers always add more soil), 5k on water tanks, 5k on the irrigation system, 5k on bamboo and posts, 5k on tractor rental costs for dirt work, 5k on the drying facilities, 5k on trim machines, shit just there I'm already over the 50k of costs i spent this year and thats not including all of it. 2015 costs should be lower right since i already bought all this shit, but theres always more shit to invest in. greenhouse kits (10-40k), tissue culture lab, extraction systems
and ovens (20k), more veg space, more drying space, upgrades to trimmer facilities, need 5k to install ACs next year so my crew dont get heat strokes, farm house needs a new roof and gutters, haha man it doesn't stop.

1) do you even realize how much it costs in labor to farm that many acres? ask all the central valley farmers about the labor shortage lately. there is such a shortage of migrant labor that their hourly wage has risen, the vineyard is currently paying 12-15 an hr plus benefits. a agricultural operation of any kind whether its marijuana or walnuts will have a huge bill, and marijuana is not mechanically harvestable, still need hands to buck down branches into the trim machines. and go check out what a mechanical harvesting machine costs alfalfa and hay farmers, 6 figures for a machine alone not including maintenance. farming is expensive as fuck, and requires insane amounts of investment and risk.

3) pretty much the only thing you said that makes any sense…yes full open sun CA outdoor operations drastically change the entire US market. yes we can produce herb for cheaper than all the warehouses in CO and WA can, our growing season is longer and sunnier and thats why CA grown OD will always be the market standard in the US.

but hey what do i know!! im just a small time farmer!

$12-15dollars an hour to pull vines sucks ass. And here it cost $25K just to set wires and post for a vineyard. Then you have several years of growing till you get a small harvest. Vineyards are friking expensive.

Yes0n.... , the pic's content along with the quality of the light makes this one of my favorite shots ever. You're in a lovely part of the state. Well Done, Man.

I am in nego with "Others" from another country (European) who want to work together in the Triangle. I will know soon - It will necessitate a return to NorCal.. Stoked.

If not, no worries. I like it here, esp once I move to the true great white North..!

Learned a lot in the last couple years, made something outta nothing, obtained that same lifestyle as in the good years, with lower ticket prices, of course.
Made it work in a relatively cutthroat and very competitive place (that I know my way around).

I also found a true holy grail cut people love, makes great concentrates, and has extreme bag appeal.
It has never shown even one spot of PM. Never, I'm befuddled by that. Maybe Norcal OD will bring it out. hjaha

The "Others" have some extremely medicinal strains as well already tested and dialed-in.

It is a different Em Tri these days.

Although one can freelance certain skills that help people. Other than that, still no "traditional" work available. Except kissing the arses of Tourists for pennies one way or another. Crazy dysfunctional Employers the norm, if you can climb, scratch, kill the herd and obtain that exalted job that makes ya grovel, and keeps ya away from your pets, the surf, friends, lovers and garden for too many (or any) hours each week. Time is our only true commodity..!!!!

haha true, well the flip side is that is doenst all come back at once. i might not see some of those profits until mid 2015 depending on how long you wait to unload, etc.

also even though the money "might" come back, its still alot of up front risk and at some points it feels like I'm pissing money into the wind. if the cops happen to show up and raid the place, or a big load gets lost on the freeway, or a customer gets pulled over and has money/packs seized (which has happened) then some of those profits never make it back.

our yields are also short this season, 100% over 2013 but also 100% short of what we should have pulled off that hillside. due to our late season soil lockout issues our yield has suffered, certain strains like cherry pie did not stack or swell as much as previous season.

this entire summer has been month to month, bill to bill, with almost no income coming in due to warehouse delays, no light-dep crops, and shutting down certain brokering pipelines….right now i feel like I'm making barely enough to get by and constantly digging into savings. almost all my money is getting reinvested into the various projects we got going….5k this week alone on 3x commercial Quest dehueys, 3k power bill, had to buy beds/mattresses and shit for the extra workers another thousand bucks, propane, food, rubber maids,…plus the work truck needs 2400 dollar worth of repairs…..fucking VAPORIZING money over here! definately no "poppin bottles" over here right now, i do want that SUV though!! just gimme a month or so to get out of the red...
