how's this for potency?

my SADP x S1 male had me high for nearly 24 hours when I ate some cannabutter cookies, and toast.

he also was early flowering, and pretty vigorous.

everything is opinion, and unless you are an experienced breeder (i'm totally not) your opinion doesn't carry much weight. If you have only seen 10 males in your lifetime do you really know what "good resin" or high vigor is? compared to what, the other 9? So I wont go there as my opinion is basically worthless.

but the high was no opinion, it was what it was: nearly a total day high. I woke up stoned and it went on so long after that I was getting annoyed, I am the kind of guy that likes to hit the hay and wake up sober I guess lol.


so, while i dont know a good male from a crap male, i do know that any male that got me this high off a few cookies (i still have about a pound of cookie dough left too) is a good male.

My criteria I guess in the future will be this: How does the male grow? Nice? Healthy? GOOD! Now lets eat the bugger and see how high I get!

By my own empirical data (A central concept in science and the scientific method is that all evidence must be empirical, or empirically based, that is, dependent on evidence or consequences that are observable by the senses.) I have observed this phenomenon in the breeding of weed.

resiny males occure
resiny males more often than not pass on their terpene profiles
taste and aroma are associated with terpines.
more simply stated, if you happen to find a male plant with resin that you like, is a very good starting point for making good seed.

let me see, so in a sentance. If you use something "like" this or that thing that you like, there is more of a chance you will like what you get, specially when you use two things you like.

lets say a male has resin and it is a flavor you like and it is that way because both of its parents had a recessive trait for good and plenty resin production which is the worst case senerio. The best case would be both parents were dominant for it, the male could dominate crosses. at least the male that you have would also at least be recessive for the tasty stuff, because it's there looking at you. so if you know that your female is choice she is showing expression for great resin and flavor but also she could have a recessive trait for low resin production from a bad cross somewhere in it's sorted past from blind breeding or some such. but she looks to all the world like Hubba Hubba, but the good genes of the male are there to save the day because you know the male is at least recessive for the trait of resin production and the female is showing so she is also at least recessive for it. so.... like breeds like
it just does and ive seen it with my own eyes.

But who's to say "resin/sap = potency" though? I've never seen it "documented", just a few folks mentioned that's how they selected.
And by "resin" are you lumping in trichomes too?

right on heirloom, sounds like you have a great and potent male there. keep it in flower long enuff and I bet he shows visible trichomes. testing by eating is a very good way of determining potency, if you breed that male to a female that also gets you high when you eat it, the seeds of it should also produce plants that will get you high when you eat them.
