then add in broadhead tip whatever....not cheap...yeehaw..carbon fibre rules just picked up 20 myself...bullets are a lot cheaper...folks using archery to poach are hard to spook..they are silent and camoed out ..that arrow looks to have lost one blade that pops out..if it had hit tree and lost blade it wouldn't stick in soil like that..i have several of them tips and hit trees..arrow tends to tumble after hitting tree ..your area sounds like prime poaching grounds...yeehaw

Heh! Somehow I'm back on this site!

Anyway to the op, you can always plant late; you won't get as much per plant but if you plant a few extra that will bump up your yield.

Advantages of planting late is the plants are not exposed to being ripped for as long, and also they don't grow as tall so are easier to hide in the undergrowth.

If you are just growing for your own stash then late planting will still give you way more that you can smoke in a year.

Outdoor season has just finished here and some of mine I planted at the start of the last month of summer, and they still ended up about 3 foot or more with big colas, and they were only about 4 inch seedlings when they went in.

If your spot where you found the arrow is low maintenance, meaning you will not have to visit often to water, then go for it, put them in.
You have nothing to lose.
It wont be like you had to cart in heavy loads of water in a backpack twice a week all through the hot summer, only to have them ripped.

By the way the strains I grew were C-Plus F2's, F3's and some Northern Lights Special (KC Brains) x Darkstar (THSeeds) crossed with C-Plus.
The last ones molded pretty badly but the C-Plus got no mold; a pretty mold resistant strain is C-Plus.
There were some nice Blueberry Pheno's amongst the C-Plus F2's.

I had photo's but deleted them due to a security scare.

Yep newer arrow for sure . But it does look like it was shot there but maybe from a lot closer distance than you might like. My guess is within 40 yds . I shoot my bow a lot at 3 d competitions and such and have learned what an arrow looks like when it missses the target haha . Its a cheaper arrow from wal mart or something , not an expensive hunting arrow like a serious bowhunter would be using . I would be sketched out about finding it for sure and probably would not use that particular spot .

This is a great analysis. Bow hunters are a unique breed. Some of them love to hunt no trespassing/hunting land. Dude that's where the big bucks are. I cant speak for every bow hunter but generally they don't poach out of season. They are looking for trophy's. They want antlers not meat. So your chances of getting spotted in the spring and summer are smaller very small in my opinion.

I don't agree with pulling up plants with out some evidence. I get along just great with hunters they just don't know it. You have to choose your harvest day based on hunting season. Some bow hunters want to be out that first day. It tapers off from there.

In my neck of the woods bow season starts in October. I wait for a week day after the first day of hunting season. The fanatics are out on Oct 1 the rest show up the following weekend then it tapers off.

Take a day off of work on a weekday after the start of bow season to harvest. This gives you the best odds. Dude as guerrilla its always a crap shoot and to me anyways uprooting plants is not good odds.

What a cool thread. I gotta do it outdoors sometime. I imagine you have to go somewhat big to make all the time humping worthwhile. But what a rush to get back to home base with some trees, eh?

Yes, I wouldn't plant 1 or 3 plants at one spot like a lot of people do.
I mean if I'm going to grow reasonable numbers of plants, say at least 50, then it would be a lot of time spent walking around to 15 or more different spots.
If I have to travel a long way to a spot then all that time travelling has to be worth it, there has to be at least 30 plants at that spot.

But if the land you grow on is conducive to big trees of at least a pound then 3 plants would be ok.
However in my experience most guerrilla grown plants don't achieve that size.
This is not just my plants, but all the other guerrilla grows I have stumbled across out there as well.
And ones that do usually have a lot of sativa in them, which means they are ready to harvest later than more indica plants.
I personally like early flowering varieties for guerrilla as they are ready a lot earlier, less time they have to spend out there at risk of getting ripped or found by leo.

sounds like you might not have found a good spot to me poachers or maybe some one doing what your doing and letting you know its their spot .either way if they are poaching chance are they are hungry and will rip you if they can .I would go out in larger and larger circles around the area before I wasted a summer on a bummer .see whats there before you drop the plants in the holes .if you find other old spots or camping spots you not as alone as being a sly grower requires to be successful .trash is a dead give away so are foot prints cut branches scout it out so your dealing with facts and not conjecture good luck solving your mystery arrows source

Are you vegetarian?
If not, maybe now would be a good time to think about starting hunting.
Bow hunting is an excellent way to spend quality time with nature and to hone your observation skills. It is a true sport when compared to the next...
Rifle hunting isn't as much of a challenge, imo, but it still requires observation skills & patience.

As far as the found arrow goes, consider it evidence that somebody has been near within the past season/year. Hunters don't leave heir arrows unless they cannot be found. Even if the shaft of an arrow is ruined, a broadhead can typically be reused. Add that broadheads of the type you found can cost as much as the shafts and you'll note that even the Wal Mart cheapies can be pricey.

I like the test plot ideas. Id go that route for this season & find another location or two.

3 plot minimum to ensure a harvest of some type.
1 for you
1 for the critters
1 for the rippers
