Agreed.... it also wouldn't hurt to wear a mask while going to a guerilla grow.. Just in case somebody has a game camera out and is watching. you could climb it was for mosquitoes, but you really don't owe anyone an explanation. And hopefully you would never encounter anyone in the first place.

Dude your trying to grow pot there and you don't think people are hunting there just because it says no hunting. Not a chance. That's good an bad news. The good news is it was probably left there during hunting season the bad news is he may be back in October.

You didn't show us the tip of the arrow. Is it a hunting or target tip? Not sure it makes a big difference but its nice to know. If its a target tip then to me there's more concern because he may be out there in the spring. Hunting tip more likely from the last hunting season.

You said its state property with no hunting allowed. It makes perfect sense to me because I have friends who are bow hunters and they can hunt anywhere vs gun owners. What else you going to use to hunt on "no hunting" property.

Its good hunting in the entrance and exits of swamps but generally not right inside the swamp because there's no where to set up a tree stand. Look for deer trails its early enough you should be able to find them easily.

If there is a bow hunter on this forum maybe they could tell us how far from that spot would a hunter be sitting to take the shot? I am assuming if this is semi-dense area we are looking at 10-30 yards max but not sure. Use the arrow as the radius of a circle and look all around a 30 yard radius for other clues.

Most bow hunters are using tree stands and they usually have to cut down some brush and/or tree limbs when they set up the stand. Even a casual glance of the arrow off a 1/4 limb will cause the arrow to change flight.

Before you freak out you need more investigative work and yes I would be freaking out too but you need to find out more info even if you decide to abort.

I have not actually seen the tip of the arrow yet, when the arrow was first spotted i was called over by my friend and instantly went into that "o-shit" mode. From that second i told them not to touch the arrow and allow me to take a couple of pictures of the arrow so i could post them here in hopes that somebody would be able to us figure out what type of arrow it is and what to do about it. I do not know anything about hunting, let alone bow hunting. Honestly, i didn't think it was still hunting season till yesterday a friend mentioned me that turkey hunting season is still in till the end of may. I'm debating to go grab the arrow just to figure out what the tip of the arrow is. I agree with u to, i should do more of an investigation before i decide to about. We have decided to set up trail cams in the area to try to see if we can catch someone walking around in there.

Just don't spend too much time on the area, and always use different paths to get to your spot. You don't want to make a worn trail easy for folks to follow.

This actually has me thinking about doing a guerrilla....

Looks like a stray. I've lost a couple arrows in the past while sighting my bow.
See if you can go in the direction it came from and look around maybe? I dunno I'd be more worried about getting hit with a random arrow.

Yesterday, i was describing to my friend(who hunts) about the grow location and to see if he could give me any feedback on a hunters POV. Now what i told him is that we r growing in a huge swamp and in the middle is a mesa. The mesa is sand about about 12 ft above the swamp and its roughly a 60ft x 60ft area. He replied by telling me about "swamp bucks" and how they go to areas like and that is why a hunter would go there possibly. It seems like every time u solve one problem another arises.... haha

Thank you to everyone that has posted feedback every bit has greatly helped

Just walk out in circles until you find boot prints. Humans have a very heavy heel toe foot fall and are very easy to track. Where I walk my dogs I see my own prints I know are a month old and still look good enough to see.

We posted at the same time. If that area is as you said people will go to great lengths to hunt an area like that. It is where the old bucks go hogs too to get away from people.

I pack 3 to 5 miles down a god forsaken canyon just to have am area I love to myself because that is where the bucks and bears go. Ftw I do not hunt bears. I just like watching them.

Even if it was a stray, which it really to me looks like it is, it's still a sign that hunters are potentially gonna get uncomfortably close to your grow. Set up a cam, if for nothing else then do it for your own peace of mind. Nothing worse than stressing all season wondering if your spot has been compromised.

I'm setting up a cam in a spot I'm re-using just for that reason. Small investment to save a lot of worry.

if a hunter shot near the spot,I think the arrow would be at a higher angle.it looks like a stray.or he found the spot and shot from far away as he was leaving.

You wouldn't believe where man. I have trail can pics of a 350# chocolate bear that has lived in the same canyon asong as I have been there. Smart bear. Lives in a lime stone quarry.

bottom line is, someone was within an arrows shot distance from your spot. That could be too close for some people looking for total security.

if the arrow fletching was only a couple of inches from being buried with the length of the arrow it was shot into the ground from en elevated position (treestand) and that means someone goes to that area...you can clearly see much more of your surroundings from up in the treestands my friend-

also this means that the hunter may or may not have trail-cams of his own out in the general areas, so always wear a mask when entering and leaving, no matter what

also hunters tend to move cameras around and hide them better than you would think

This is golden advice for everyone.wear a mask, even if it is a hat with mosquito netting. Theyhave trail cameras now that will instantly send a photo to a phone or someones email.. I like to leave things out in the woods that people will find, that way I can see if they disappear and it lets me know someone was out there.

first pic is of the tip of the arrow and it had 3 points from the side pop out but i broke one off trying to get it outta the dirt it was stuck in the ground about 2-3 inch deep

the second pic is of the arrow color difference, the top part was facing the sky and has a slight color change and the darker side was facing the ground and i think it has not had much UV damage to the color

third pic is just another shot of the arrows side that was facing the ground

forth pic is of the angle i found it shot in. after those couple of tree in the back is where it drops off and go into the thicket and swamp i took this shot before digging it up
