Dark French Roast coffee, through a Melita drip filter (unbleached). 'Nother cup to go.
Coffee rarely provides me with the clean uplifting stress-free acceleration that some stimulants do, but it's a lot more affordable, and less problematic where judgments and the law are concerned. So, unless in a serious pinch, I settle for sub-par, socially acceptable coffee...
The Hemperor by New Belgium Brewing. Made with hemp and hops, almost an IPA. 7% abv.
I was in a hurry, and saw it in the cooler, with intermittently failing eye-sight at times, exacerbated by the hurried errands I was engaged in, I grabbed a six-pack; $11.99 plus local alcohol tax.
I'd examined the bottle and package to see if there were any claims re. CBD content. But none that stood out.
When I got it home, and took a bit more time to examine the packaging, I saw the notes that declared something to the effect of "no traceable amounts of THC or CBD."
I wondered, how do they get the hemp extract to taste like cannabis-sourced chlorophyll with hops added, yet no CBD?? And what's the POINT??!!
So, at a local cost of $11.99/6-pack, plus alcohol tax, I don't think I'll be buying any more of it. My curiosity is satisfied, and I can get much better tasting beer at 7% abv, or higher, without the green cannabis brownie flavoring. You know... the flavor that most of us began using canna butter, rather than whole green trim in our baked goods recipes, in an effort to avoid such things!!
Now, if they change their product line in the future, and infuse serious amounts of CBD into it, maybe I'll reconsider.
The Hemperor, by New Belgium Brewing in Colorado. still 7% abv.
While it is a disappointment, re. the original reasons I initially purchased it, it's not something that inherently evokes a sense of nausea (my wife may disagree with that), and I'm too cheap to dispose of it by throwing it out... So drinking it every now and again, until the original 6-pack is gone, seems to be my plan. And today seemed like a good day to swill down some almost-IPA, with heavy hints of chlorophyll.
A bottle of oban was the finest scotch I've had, really an eye opener on how good scotch can be.
I will be going a different direction and making it an old crow night. I actually like the taste generally, but it is rather rough around the edges, 18 bucks for a 1.75 makes it acceptable.
