Back in the age of Paper Magazines, there was a fascinating article about 15 years ago, about a scientific expedition to Norway, to dig up a gravesite containing the remains of 1918 flu victims/ patients.

to obtain samples for US AMRIID, the US gov. bio labs.

i guess if i collected viruses, i'd want a sample of the 1918 flu too ? /sarc.

guess i'll stick to collecting rocks and coins and tools. And animal droppings ! :rtfo:
They were quite successful in their efforts to recreate the virus.

Good thing that wasn’t the US. The coppers would have shot her seven times in the back. Oh wait, she’s white... never mind.

I'm not up to date on the laws there. Is free speech illegal?. If we had incitement laws here Trump would be locked up years ago.

We have a holiday in front of us. Each holiday we have had this summer has been followed two weeks later with a spike in infections and deaths.

Would sure be nice to see those numbers decrease for a change.

that seems hugely...sorry....yuuuugely unlikely...more likely another spike in cases and all the kids forced back to school will start another spike...

you think schools should stay closed? for ever, or what? this virus is staying with us, it will become as common as the flue, in a few years it will not kill any more then a normal flue season. there is no going back, we have to learn to accept that its here to stay, every one of us will have to fight it off sooner or later. hiding in your mask is only delaying the inevitable. the good news is that your chances of surviving it are very good at this stage, in fact most likely you already have some immunity and won't even get symptoms. but yes cases will go up, but the death count will not. it has already stabilized.

schools being closed is making the children's lives hell, but worse then that its being done for no good scientifically backed reason. just look at the stats about 15 and under. teachers can practice distancing and wear masks, just like sales people and every other fucker has to wear them now. not opening them is totally selfish and probably motivated by politics, as eu nations have opened up schools ages ago.

If they were giving out dogs with rabies in a random school chosen by raffle tickets each week, would you still say the same thing. Those of us with young relatives don't want to have no contact with them, nor can we risk our lives by having contact with them. Teachers of young children are not virologists. They don't understand much of anything. I just spoke to the child in our family online, and they are all hugging each other to say hello again, and the teachers are fine with it. The kids will mostly be fine, but that doesn't stop the psychological impact that some will have to deal with when they kill their parents, grandparents and extended families. Class sizes should never have reached the size they are, but to allow kids to play together, hug each other, and then go home to their families is criminal willful endangerment of public safety. Whoever is making these decisions should be charged with manslaughter for each death that results. Remote learning should be the standard by now.

As I posted previously, I am generally in agreement with this. I am not really aware of school structures in various European countries but in America they are only training grounds for being compliant members of society. This is the intention but in reality discrimination and bullying are practiced. Walking through those doors kids enter a big social rivalry. Very few children once in school remain kind. Many students with true intelligence are belittled, stifled and become introverted with low self esteem.

To parents it is a convenient babysitter.

The covid virus is providing an opportunity to change this archaic educational system to one which combines small groups and computerized standardized curriculae. Getting an education should not include a social competition soap opera.

bro, its been going on here for months and months and no child has yet made their parents sick. Swiss health care system is very exact, they track and trace the cases. kids are not vectors, even when they have it, they do not spread it.

time has shown that the length of time you breath a sick persons air is whats important for transmission. a quick hug is not enough. even our covid tracing app will only keep trace of people that you are in close proximity to for at least 10 minutes. even hand shaking is not generally the way this thing transmits. if this thing wasn't so political everyone would understand that by now.

our health ministry gave the all clear for kids to hug their grandparents again months and months and months ago and nothing happened. you guys have to go by the newest information, don't stay stuck in the early days in your head, this is a whole new different situation. even the doctors know how to keep the worst cases alive much better now.

my mum and dad been hugging the kids again for many months now. and they have been going to school in normal size 20 kid classes again too for many months.

dude, kids already spend way too much time behind a screen, schooling must not increase that time in any significant way, it's unhealthy and kills brain cells. go out in the forest and hold classes, yes to smaller groups and all the rest, but no to doing it on a screen, thats just so counterproductive i can't believe people would seriously think its a solution. it will ruin a whole generation if we don't get them back to school, yes there is bullying, but thats life, kids have to learn to socialize and form co-operatives. they need to be with other kids too, its part of growing up. all this safe space nonsense is just ruining young people, making them weak spoilt cry babies that think the world owes them everything.

Many think we should just learn to live with it, let everyone get sick and let god sort it out or it's some kind of gov control to keep us locked away. There more cornered with some conspiracy nonsense and not liking being told to ware a mask than what's best for public safety.. At least wait until there's a vaccine to help protect the most vulnerable.

Classes are double that size here. And of course an infected human with a contagious virus is contagious. Kids aren't magic, and a virus doesn't consider itself in a neutral zone when its in a kid. Kids spread it, I don't know what your govt is telling you, but we are old enough to look to scientists for science and politicians for bullshit.

That's untrue.. This is what the CDC says about it.

CDC warns that all people with Covid-19, including those with mild cases of the disease and children, "can still pass this virus onto others who may be at higher risk, including older adults and people who have serious underlying medical conditions."

believe what you like, i believe my own eyes. kids are not giving it to people, why or how is irrelevant, its been months now, if the schools were gonna cause a flare up it would have happened by now.

but like i said its not gonna spare anyone in the end, i mean who do you know who never suffered a flue? well soon it will be the same with corona. whether schools are open or not.

if a person is not coughing and sneezing on people and directly sharing air for at least 10 minutes it won't transmit.
