For the record.. a mandate isn’t a recommendation it’s an order.
I know the orders vary state to state, country to country..
But a mandate is an order with the threat of violence behind it.

Also, I think people of every age matter.
I just think the policy should be to voluntarily isolate those who are most affected by the virus (the old and Infirm)
Finance their isolation...
But to try to isolate the entire population because some older people
could catch the virus and die... is not only a dangerous policy that causes famine and financial destruction the world over.. it doesn’t even work.
If it did work, wouldn’t California be doing better than florida in regards to covid?

Florida - 19,627 deaths from COVID
California has double the population, so Florida hasn’t really done better in that case?

Florida has a much older population than California so in that regard they are more susceptible to death which would skew the death rate somewhat
Also,
Florida is completely open vs California being completely shut down (unless you work in the essential movie industry)...

Florida’s hospitals are not overwhelmed.. nobody is dying in the street for lack of a hospital bed.
The apocalypse that was predicted never came to pass.
Over and over again, the DATA proves arbitrary lockdowns and mask mandates are ineffective policies to mitigate viral spread.

True enough. I did my best to figure it out through a process of elimination. The only other scenario is a brief visit to a market. The timing, considering incubation, 2 blood tests and where I wore a mask made me conclude I picked up a floater from a passing bicyclist.
I never visit, no deliveries but it is still conjecture.

Our local hospitals have zero icu availability. We are in a relatively close proximity to each other. I am sure your local hospitals are similarly situated. We have been locked down for 9 months, lockdowns don't work. Covid19 is spread within households.

Florida and New York have a similar population. Should we compare those deaths?

I am supportive of mask use in public. I due to family that is in a very fragile medical state have been pretty strict with limiting exposure. My Grandmother who is 89 and has a litany of medical conditions, kicked Covid-19 in a week. It really comes down to physicians learning what works.

Public health practices up until this moment in history, have consistently been to quarantine those in high risk categories. We have drastically diverged from those practices. Just saying public health practices is misinformation also. The biggest failure in this entire fiasco, is that NO SOURCE HAS BEEN FREE OF IDEOLOGY, NONE, NOT LEFT, NOT RIGHT, NOT CENTER IF THST EVEN EXIST ANYMORE.

It's convenient that an ideological group have insisted on policies that ensure the elimination of independent small businesses in favor of large corporate businesses. How on earth anyone believes Walmart is safe but, restaurants are not is not rooted in any scientific method. Walmart should have been the first place shutdown if you actually believe in what you preach.

Just curious, why those on the left have such a distain for small business owners, and employees, while being completely silent about the massive transfer of wealth away from the middle class, to massive corporations?

We live in a society which has not been able to implement public health practices. That is the result of a lot of money spent by the Rockefeller medicine people who have spent a fortune to buy out the politicians of each party. You never miss an opportunity to insert your favorite propaganda in your every post. It is as if your every post is a Powell Memo tribute. You are convincing me that you care far more for a party than a country, I hope that can change with the passage of time.


I delight in doing business with mom and pops and have avoided big box outfits like the plague since I have been a kid. Can count the number of times in my life, that I have been in a walmart on one hand with fingers left over.
One of the things I loved most about the LA area is the massive number of small business here, and it sickens me that they were treated as poorly by the out going administration who left them to languish as they hooked up their chosen friends.

It would have helped to have had a decent supply of quality masks - which we still lack, nearly a year after it was known they would be needed. Recall being told capitalism always rises to meet any demand. We are all waiting for that.

I don't know what this Powell memo you constantly refer to is.I just use simple logic. You quarantine those who are at risk. Standard procedure as long as modern medicine has existed.

Most of the bailouts were authored by, Pelosi co. I agree small businesses were left the languish, by state governors and mayors. I don't recall a federal mandate closing small businesses, especially since it would be unconstitutional.

Democrat mayors, and Governors have delighted in pushing mandates they immediately violate. While destroying small businesses en mass. The ideological bent is glaringly obvious.

You are in the Valley, I am sure you have seen the video of a bar owner whose outdoor area is unsafe, while a movie production with less social distancing is allowed in the same parking lot. Ideology reigns over facts. Small business is unsafe, corporate business is safe. California is well on its way to being entirely corporate.

Yeah, we are very grateful grandma is doing better, she was very lucky to be placed in a facility that knows how to treat Covid19. Ironically I did a internship rotation at the same facility, 20 years ago. While I would never move back to Tucson, they have some world class medical facilities.
