After leaving a store, I often forget to take off my mask. So I must look like one of those. But once I turned 50, I didn't give a shit what anyone thought anyway. Even less so at 60.

But hey... keep looking cool. It's important.

As I’ve heard said...
In your teens and 20’s , you worry about what people think about you.
In your 30’s and 40’s, you don’t care what people think about you.
After that, you realise no fucker was thinking about you anyway.

Who wears a mask in a car with the windows rolled up by themselves?
a comfortably fitting mask might make sense
or immune compromised individuals that are really scared
excessive maybe, but some likely would be in deep shit if they catch it

or folks that think they might be symptom-free carriers that have family or friends that also ride with them/use the car. some folks want other people to go ahead, catch it and die if you are "weak" like they think.

I never worried much when I was in my teens. Pot cured all that. I found if I respected those I felt deserved respect, they respected me. It was all about the purple berries. Probably keep us both alive.

What do these superspreader events have in common? To understand how COVID-19 spreads, consider these three Vs:

Venue: Multiple people indoors, where social distancing is often harder
Ventilation: Staying in one place with limited fresh air
Vocalization: Lots of talking, yelling or singing, which can aerosolize the virus.

Well, we do need non-believers in the crowd, right?

Strike one,
U missed the context completely (which is a tough look for such an educated dude.)

we weren’t speaking of events..
We were discussing asymptomatic spread.. and the “science” behind people wearing masks in their car by themselves

Care to take another wack at it mr science?:dancer:

Pro tip.. read at least the most recent page on a thread before responding (otherwise u may miss the context again)

I see lots of people here in the local tesco diving out of the way to avoid me, bit extreme.

A short while later when exiting tesco some of those people would be stood up against the wall
With there masks of sucking on cigarettes.

I did think to myself I wonder which one will get them first...

Oh, what an active (incorrect) imagination you have, MO!!:kitty:

Talking in generalities as well as those asymptomatic.

You're on a roll today, boo koo responses....did you forget to take your Rx?

And CIA.... that's hilarious!!??? If you THOUGHT about what you wrote instead of hoof & mouth typing, you wouldn't have been banned numerous times.

Yeah, agree. Gypsy's cool....don't agree with him sometimes, but I don't agree with you either.:good:

if you say so. they keep getting sick, though...:D

Was referring to the obstinate folk on here, by you already knew that, eh? ;o). It's just a matter of time. However, it's everywhere, the deniers of common sense/common science.

Maybe MO, Boogie and others flaming the wearing of masks won't be affected. Hope both are healthy to ward off SARS-Corona 19.....unless they can secede from populace and go live & thrive on Gillian's Island....it's uninhabited now, I think.:D

Lab protocol 101; when placing on a mask do not remove the mask until exposure to potential contaminants is past.

We put a mask on before going into the first stop on a town trip. Before getting back into the car, the items picked up or purchased are wiped down, and the EXTERIOR of the mask and nitrile gloves are wiped down before the person re-enters the vehicle.

Their externally disinfected gloves and masks remain on them until the last stop, and the last interaction with persons not from our home, then they are removed, and disinfected internally, externally, etc., and allowed to sit out until the next use.

NEVER remove a mask until exposure to contaminants is past. Period.

It's this 'missing' bit of information or knowledge that permits persons who are not all that familiar (apparently) with lab-safety protocols to mock others, when the real issue is lack of information among those making such observations.

And no, we're not wearing N95s here. We wear food-grade silicone GVS Elipse P100s of 2 different configurations, and place a standard surgical mask over the exhale ports.

Replacement .3 micron filter packs for the masks run from $10 to $24, depending on mask type and source.

I have several links across the USA to folks whom I've found to be quite honorable and helpful in these pursuits, back when most folks couldn't even find them available anywhere in the USA. Good folks who charged no additional shipping other than actual USPS Priority Mail cost, and they even, a half-Continent away, make special trips to their post office in Indiana for me, at no extra charge, though they rarely ship via USPS as a matter of routine business; they send USPS Priority to me at cost..

If I'm wrong about the benefits of mask wearing, I've worn a mask, maybe looked a tad foolish, and pretty much endangered no one else.... other than maybe my ego.

If those who balk at masks are wrong, well.... then the outcome and liability are -far- from equal to those who MIGHT be improperly putting faith in masks..

All of this has been discussed with more than 1 of my Docs, whom I see quite regularly lately, and none of them have been critical of my thoughts or logic in this regard.

Some really hold steadfast to inaccuracies.

Outa' rep.

Years of putting concrete faith in bureaucracies, religions, and more, including some of the magical thinking I now engage in over family strife, paints us as a culture, not a species, but a culture, likely many cultures, that when faced with things outside of our control, will glom onto inaccuracies and superstitions, if for no other reason than it allows ourselves sometimes to con ourselves into feeling safe, secure, etc.

In that regard, there are many ways in comparison, that I often believe we have NOTHING on the 'fainting goats', where defense mechanisms that result in our own destruction are concerned.

I still contend that our comforts are slowly (or faster) killing us, by virtue of separating us from an ability to perceive needs in a more concrete manner.

We've gone nuts via excesses and fluff, and, ironically, information overload, that has led to shutting down our logical processing of information as often as not.

That's my curmudgeonly opinion now, and for a long while.
