you may be right that it does limit the amount that is passed out through your mask, BUT it also collects other airborne particles; it collects them in a certain place you don't want them to be.

one thing i've notice with masks, is that most of the air that is exhaled goes right up into your eyes (ever hear anyone complain about foggy glasses?). so you are wearing a petri dish full of who knows what from the air and from everything you touch before adjusting the mask out of your eyes or back over your nose. then you are blowing all of those things right up into your eyes and breathing them in.

there have been several scientific studies proving that the flu (i know it's not the same, but is it that much different?) was actually contracted MORE by people who wore masks in a medical situation. the one study i saw that proved people were less likely to get the flu from masks included someone properly fitting the mask on the participants.
If you’re blowing virus up into your eyes. You’re already exposed . Wear a mask and stop spreading hearsay.

Places where the compliance has been high are fine, and all but back to normal.
An approach based in Public Health works and works well.
It is the sole approach which does work.

Current rates of infection are as high as they have been.
This is the most important time to be mindful that we are dealing with a pandemic that has the potential to damage our society in a number of ways.
The potential for a vaccine is welcome and wonderful news, but it may take quite a while to get it to people.
The fewer infections between now and then the better. Masks and social distancing.

Nah,
Ur a broken record.
Public health can get bent

Conclusions: Healthcare personnel may encounter increased concentrations of influenza virus when in close proximity to patients. Occupations that require contact with patients are at an increased risk for influenza exposure, which may occur throughout the influenza season. Filtering facepiece respirators may become contaminated with influenza when used during patient care.

now i'll wait for someone to chime in and say "BUT the COVIS AINT NO FLU!"

I’ll just say I’m not a healthcare worker.

Of course they may.
They are playing the odds. The odds are better with a mask. Even better when they have a fresh supply.

Thanks for the link though. It beats yelling names back and forth.

So dumb dumbs who can't work out how to put a mask on their own face, don't get the benefits of wearing a mask. So you say you won't wear a mask off the back of that?

i never said i don't wear a mask. i said there are studies that prove that it works and studies that prove they don't work and can in fact be worse. it's like anything in the medical system: every doctor has a different opinion and many are exact opposites. to only tell a one-sided story is misleading and not beneficial to anyone.

i don't know about calling people dumb dumbs when you were the one who went out in public while you were sick (i know you liked the post but it was actually sarcastic ;)).

When you put all those educated opinions together , you get closer to the truth.

Masks are not infallible. I don’t think anybody here believes that they are. It’s important to use them correctly, therefore it is important to know and address the shortcomings.

BTW: The link you provided was addressing respirators. Still I think your point is valid, just not strong enough a reason not to wear a mask. Again, it’s all about playing the odds. I’ll follow the lead of the health professionals actually working in the field. The ones hovering over the patients.

Thanks for posting.

That is managed with a protocol of replacing them between patients.

Man, I had a cold, not corona. We all have to buy food. Plus I was wearing a mask and gloves.

the problem is that those who have been fitted or know enough about properly donning medical equipment such as n95's are safer, because they know the procedures and risks of improperly using it. the vast majority of the public has never been fitted or even has a sufficient mask, doesn't know about sanitizing their hands before and after each time they touch their mask, and risks contaminating whatever old pair of underwear they made into a face covering. this is actually what dr. fauci said back in march during his interview about not wearing masks (schmootz i think is the word they used).

Yet another day of record infection rates.

no shit. we've wandered back & forth between 45 to 130 cases daily...until yesterday. over 440 new cases in 4 county area, and 6 deaths in this county alone. if this virus is going to "magically disappear", i wish it would hurry the fuck up...wait, which talking head was it that said "you watch. this virus will disappear right after the election." i guess the conspiracy du jour will be that the virus aint real, and Pfizer is going to sell us each two shots of a placebo that will protect us from a disease that does not exist, and nearly a quarter of a million "fake" deaths in this country alone has been hidden by a HUGE network of co-conspirators! nearly everyone in the world is in on it, but only chumps fans are woke and see it...:shucks::D

Ya, it’s so bad out here that the dead are piling up in the streets.. they’ve even given up on the mass graves.
It’s horrific.
Hopefully some child somewhere will survive and the human race will continue on
