Under such circumstances, who would advise anyone they cared for not to wear a mask ?
In places like Taiwan, where compliance with pubic health is high,
things are back to normal and they are having public ball games.

Clothing on your butt or clothing on your viral infected mouth. Both serve the same purpose.
I don’t think anyone claims a mask is 100% effective. Besides the physical distancing, it’s about the only thing that can be used to slow the crap coming out of your mouth as you go about your day.
Odd that some members here would likely pull someone from a burning car or building but can’t be bothered to wear a mask to keep a compromised individual from catching a potentially fatal virus.
3% mortality with COVID 19, lots of bad cases that don’t end up as a death as well. Lot of unknowns with a virus less than a year old.

South Korea has 30 COVID cases per 100,000 residents,
U.S. has 1,650 COVID cases per 100,000 residents.

Viruses are not equally contagious. You have to be tested to know for sure and if you're like me, the idea of someone shoving things up my nose has no appeal. You'd think there would be a better test by now? I'm not sure it's even been proven the virus can spread by means other than air. Wouldn't be ethical you know to try to infect a hundred young people in order to understand how it spreads. You'd think at some point someone would mention the death rate at so-and-so age, like maybe people would take it more seriously if it was framed like if you're over 70 you have a 10% chance of dying, but there seems to be disinterest by the relevant statisticians.
i would very much like to see these studies/ stats because apparently we read different publications.
seriously, please post the evidence that supports the weird claim that masks don't help curb the amount of sars-cov-2 being spewed out of our mouths and noses.

absolutely nobody claims the masks are perfectly effective at bringing infections to a desd hault.
the real way to figure it out like you're hinting at would be to have an alternate reality where we could look at the same cities with and without mask compliance, over and over to see the statistical layout.
