Airports aren't exactly relevant to COVID statistics anymore, as air travel has been minimal (if ongoing at all) for basically 6 months.
Now, inasmuch as the virus was already present in Sweden (as it was everywhere else) and spreading (as it was everywhere else), they are a perfectly fine counter-example for people to point to.
Sweden's death rate could have been much lower had they done what everyone did. They have a much lower population at only 9m. We could also have lost fewer lives had Trump not lied about it.
We had and still have multiple essential airline traffic. Multiple points of entry.
While exponential spread now outweighs external input not only were we megadosed in the beginning, the resistance to following a health protocol has been immense. Large protest gatherings, irresponsible campaigning.

? Not sure how you came to that conclusion. All I'm using is common scene. If you don't do anything you will have more deaths. Any that think you would still have the same death rate if you used PPE and social distancing is nuts. How would they compare if nothing was ever done. No way to quantify the death impact from Trumps lies. Using common sense if people knew how deadly it is and he was honest decisions made would be different saving lives in that process. .
