I barely believe the numbers they have now...

Imo if ur in a nursing home and near death... than dying of COVID isn’t much different than dying of pneumonia..
And guess where the majority of covid deaths come from..

You seem to have missed the fact that covid *induces* pneumonia - one of its chief ways of killing people

If Y’all don’t see any issue with predicting 6 million COVID deaths in the USA, then ur dumber than I thought.
No one *here* made up the push for herd immunity, or that it would “require” 60% of the Population to get infected...no one *here* decided there was only a 1% fatality rate.

That’s all taken at face value from and by the “masks are bullshit” crew - all anyone did was work the very simple math on those numbers. Try it yourself, see what YOU come up with.

It’s not a prediction. It’s numbers you think are significant, yes? 60% infection rate for herd immunity? Only 1% fatal? Work it out.

but next to that we also have human nature, if the deaths start to raise again, everyone will start being more disciplined with phisical distancing and wearing masks in closed spaces. you remember the empty streets in spring? thats what will slow things down again.

its the attitude of people that matters, not so much the masks. if a train wagon is full to the brim with masked people you will still get some air coming out the sides of the mask being shared by those around you. not saying dont wear it, but saying it alone wont save you if you act stupidly and go clubbing, protesting, etc.

so yes those 2 things will stop those crazy numbers being realized, wait 1 more thing too, we know how to keep the hard cases alive better now too.

so we just have to survive till the vulnerable can start getting vaccinated.

in conclusion 6 million dead in the US before this is over seems not to be based on logic, but is more about shocking people back in to compliance. the powers that be are saying; we had a lovely summer break, but now its time to batten down the hatches again.

i really feel for places that never really lifted their lockdowns, but here the summer was almot normal appart from the missing concerts and festivals, which so far are supposed to be restarting any time now, although they might well change course depending on developments.

i just saw that Israel has declared a second full lock down. you can't go more then 500 meters from your house and only for essential supplies. man what a time we are living in eh?

the thing about masks is they have become a powerful symbol of taking this serious. people are totally panicky if you are not wearing a mask in places you are supposed to. its best to go along with it. too many prominent; "its all a hoax" people have ended up in intensive care for covid. better take it seriously, just don't become unhealthily afraid or over focused on it. i stopped reading whats going on in other countries every day. i focus on the local news, they actually made a point of saying that although case numbers are going up again, hospitalizations and death rates are hardly effected. it really seems those getting it now are somehow surviving at much better rates.

Yes, this is because the very ill and infirm have already died.
To healthy people COVID isn’t much more than the flu

A face mask filters LARGER particles. Yes, minuscule COVID nano particles can be passed through the mask, but not enough to have full blown COVID. It's not 100%, but far, far better than no mask at all.

No, my science facts are NOT religion. Working with State Dept of Health with data analysis of Contact tracing, I can tell you Masks, Hand Washing, Avoiding crowds, Cleanliness are, indeed SCIENCE BASED, not religion.

And having worked in healthcare for 40 years before HA... another 20 years intertwined, then teaching healthcare for 14 years, SCIENCE was indeed part of training/teaching/didactics, et.al. <<<<<< I'd be real careful about following "science" as if it were a religion.

I was also hearing on npr that deaths in all categories seem to have gone up. Due to covid many people who would have received care and survived their heart attack or whatever stayed home and died. At home deaths are at record amounts this year.
