Anybody growing leeks right now? My nursery told me it was a late/cool season plant. Last couple years I grew them during the summer and they turned out great. I was bummed I couldn't get my hands on more.

Here are some chantreeles I recently picked.. It's been raining so much here.. I have dried some also. I am wanting to try to can a few. How are you canning yours? There is allotta boletes around right now, but I have never messed with these no I'm a little hesitant. I pick oysters ,lions mane chantreeles and reishi...
We had steak and baked chantreeles last night, was awesome.

The pic of the compost is my kudzu I been talking about ,very good stuff. I was doing a side by side experiment but one of the tomato plants got consumed by my cucumbers, but from what I saw its definitely worth adding.. I have been using nothing but teas using kudzu and worm casting to fertilize and the garden is doing awesome. I'll post a updated garden pic later

Hey all,

Had this plant gifted to me but have no idea what it is or how to care for it. Can anyone identify it for me?

It has very unique stems with red spots that have white hairs growing out of them, very long and spindly stems with 12" leaves at the end.

Here's my meager pepper, tomato, and eggplant patch.

Pulled my first Green Bell a couple days ago, got a Jalapeño today, and the Chili peppers are starting to flower finally so it looks like it will be a good pepper year. Tomatoes are a bit behind, and I'm wondering if I'll get ANYTHING from the german queen.

I won't bother posting anything about the lettuce, it's shooting it's load and bolting already thanks to the high temps this year. Same with most of my spices.

Okie dokie hokie pokes...growing mizuna mustard to seed for seeds & an attempt at mustard I guess! Also collecting bok choy and loving all the insects coming to the flowers. Not the leaf miners though

Next time I will plant a bed specifically for collecting seed so I can water it less once everything flowers.

Bout to have to start making juice ice cubes and chard kimchi. I have a surplus of greens! My basils are struggling due to not replanting quick enough and being waterlogged. Hopefully they'll come around!

I've had to mulch the shizzle out of everything. It's hot here just shy of 8k feet :/

Was worried about the Broccoli bolting in the last heat wave, but after it passed nice heads came on like these..............

These bush beans are called Super Crop. Hope they live up to the name. I harvested the dried pods off a neighbors garden last year for the seed to grow these.............

The leaf Lettuce is growing in the cool part of the garden with the Broccoli. Sick of eating salads.............

Heres various squash/melons/gourds. Have harvested alot of green yellow and crookneck Zucchini so far..............

My broccoli bolted. Its only recently it got really hot, but it bolted earlier than that....did a photoperiod/too much sun have to do with that?

Not sure sensi. Mine gets about 6-8 hours direct. Heat and to much sun screws broccoli up as you know. Not sure why mine did alright despite the heat and sun, although it is on the shadier side of the garden. kept the soil moist as well, thought frequent light waterings would keep the ground cool for them. The broccoli is waist high, I have given them 3 feedings of fish emulsion this season. Harvested 5 or 6 pounds so far.........

I thought I post some picks into this great thread .. Thnx BIo for starting. I won this hydro system a few years ago and thought I give it a try .It has a pot that rest on top of a bigger pot. It basically holds 5 gallons of water and a pump is at the bottom and continuously pumps it to the top were it trickles back down. It is filled with hydroton on top layer and rock wool croutons on bottom half .Seems to be working fine .some of the leaf damage was due to running out of water . I have to add about 5 gallons once a week .
I ate some of the jalapenos today but they weren't that hot .

Thing about jalapeños is they get hotter with less water. Hydro probably isn't the best thing for them, also might try adding phosphorus, buddy's dad would burry a matchbook in the roots.... His peppers were always hotter than hell!!!

i definitely have something going on,about half my bell peppers and a few of the chilis have big brown rotten spots on them,didnt think the beds would be perfect in the first year but im having fun its really nice to look around and see green here,it was nothing but sun blasted moonscape tan blankness before,but now theres plants and flowers and insects and bees and lizards and birds....just need to plant a goat bush and i bet i even get chupacabras!

lol,the local desert plant nursery people love me,i even have credit now! they got a big kick out of the trailer this week,i pulled a 10 gallon mexican firecracker bush home with a blue grama grass,a cactus and some more wildflowers,its funny how people react to that...

well yeah,no one likes chupacabras but if you grow chili you need them to pollinate! everyone around here knows that!

We put match heads in each hole that we planted peppers , they all look pretty healthy! First year trying this
