There was no mention of Putin taking Crimea...
You are correct. A lot happened well before.
Justification is by nature a subjective exercise, but there can be little question that the activities described in this exposé constitute, from the Kremlin’s perspective, a dire provocation and would be seen as such by the United States if the situation were reversed and a rival superpower established such bases in Mexico. This perception is an inseparable part of the military and political context that shaped this war’s outbreak. It can be dismissed as paranoid, but if so it is a paranoia common to all security establishments.

It is unclear what concrete U.S. interests these joint intelligence activities served. They certainly did not facilitate de-escalation between Moscow and Kyiv or promote regional stability, goals ostensibly shared by the Obama and Trump administrations. On the other hand, it is quite easy to see how Kyiv’s deepening relationship with the CIA needlessly fed into Moscow’s worst security fears and precipitated its conclusion — whether justified or not — that it must act decisively in the face of an implacable conflict with the West over Ukraine.

Well now we've done it.

More proof that americans hate democracy, rule of the people for americans translate only into ”you people do as we say or we will topple your government and bomb you, kill you and rape you”.

Lets see how much longer your ukropian poxy squad last.

Thank you, buzz, a wee bit of clarity amidst all of the pro-nationalist horseshit and ignorance of history is nice for a change.

And the video of our puppet regime in Ukraine bombing their own citizens a decade ago, with US-supplied bombs, was an excellent bit of video.

I could only watch it while logged out, however, due to the ignore function.

I've been at this forum off and on for over 16 years, through 4 memberships, always under the same handle, and up until last year, never had anyone on ignore that I can recall.

Now I have a decent list of folks on ignore.

It occurred to me the other day that there are two basic defined groups of individuals on my ignore list; shameless self-aggrandizing egotist wannabe hippies, and extreme right anti-semite quasi-nazis.

I recall a time 50 years ago when neither of those 2 groups was well represented in the weed markets or cultivation circles. I miss those times.

It is a decent article, but I will offer criticism as it for example speaks about a ”Euromaidan Revolution” which is simply a eufemism for the coup d’etat. It gives impression of a ”three way partnership” established by ”the pro-Western government” with so called western intelligence. Well I will simply tell you that ukranian neo-nazi groups received training on nato bases as early as 2006 in their preparations for aggression against South Ossetia.

As for toppling the elected ukranian government, training again on bases in eastern Europe, started at least a year before the coup. Back to your article,

Kyiv routinely pushed this relationship’s boundaries, violating the Obama administration’s red lines around lethal operations by carrying out assassinations of high-profile Russian fighters on territory controlled by Russian-aligned separatists. The Kyiv-CIA partnership deepened under the Trump administration, yet again putting the lie to the baseless idea that former President Trump was somehow amenable to Russia’s interests while in office.

So here the author seek to whitewash the Obama administration by talking about supposed ”red lines”, which is simply bs, but he also rightly levels the notion that Trump somehow had a policy different from Obama or Biden for that matter but no, its the same policy.

An interesting policy document from famous american think tank.
