Well, part conspiracy (or, probably more accurately, people don't want to catch shit/get their hands dirty). George Soros donated a few million to "vote yes on 19" messaging, the dude who founded Men's Warehouse just donated another mil - the money's there, but no one wants to risk taking it.

Even youtube has banned pro prop-19 messaging (which blows my mind, because they're owned by Google, and I know a bunch of Google employees, all of whom cheef HARD).

Last I heard, NORML, MPP & the rest of the pro-19 lobby reached out to John Stewart & Steven Colbert as individuals, trying to leverage their pull with Comedy Central to get the ads run.

At this point, I think some of the anti-19 shit is actually helping the pro-19 cause! Did anyone hear the Cali Chamber of Commerce ad that suggests if 19 passes, you'll be coming out of surgery to see your nurse is stoned off her ass? [Most] people are too sophisticated/not dumb enough to fall for that kind of fear-mongering... at least I hope so.

Soros actually loves weed - he's been the major backer for MPP and has given big undisclosed donations to national NORML. I think most people in the "upper crust" are into weed, Soros was just one of the first to realize that he has enough dough flow to not give a fuck what anyone thinks about him

I know a little bit abound soros I did not know he's into weed but I do know he's a major player in the currency markets who knows what his next move will be he knows way more about economics than I ever will. I could see why the mens wherehouse guy would be down with 19 get a hemp field and just grow his own fabric and cut the cotton guys out .The thing about 19 is everyone on both sides has a angle you just have to be able to read between the lines to see it . Baca sounded frustrated and stoned when trying to explain his rational for 19 not being "legal". He knows he cant out and out say Federal law trumps state law because it will quickly be pointed out that a state can choose to make something legal and not enforce federal laws. Funny stuff. Reminded me of Barney Fife.

Just did it, my yes vote is in the mail. As imperfect as prop 19 is, It is way better than the status quo, let's just say no to prohibition and the war on drugs. Let cannabis be the gift from god that I believe it is, and let everyone in CA grow it without having to get a note. We have waited too long for this, lets do it! YES on 19 !
