Well, part conspiracy (or, probably more accurately, people don't want to catch shit/get their hands dirty). George Soros donated a few million to "vote yes on 19" messaging, the dude who founded Men's Warehouse just donated another mil - the money's there, but no one wants to risk taking it.
Even youtube has banned pro prop-19 messaging (which blows my mind, because they're owned by Google, and I know a bunch of Google employees, all of whom cheef HARD).
Last I heard, NORML, MPP & the rest of the pro-19 lobby reached out to John Stewart & Steven Colbert as individuals, trying to leverage their pull with Comedy Central to get the ads run.
At this point, I think some of the anti-19 shit is actually helping the pro-19 cause! Did anyone hear the Cali Chamber of Commerce ad that suggests if 19 passes, you'll be coming out of surgery to see your nurse is stoned off her ass? [Most] people are too sophisticated/not dumb enough to fall for that kind of fear-mongering... at least I hope so.
