I'm not sure the site you speak of but if it's mail order weed, I'm sure it's untrustworthy and shady as hell. If there were legit mail order weed sites out there, everyone would be ordering. Unless of course you were just talking about seeds, which are completely safe to order.

Yes I was predicting the near future by saying without prohibition you would have no more need to grow a tropical cannabis any more than you do a pineapple. I see a future where cannabis from anywhere on the globe can be purchased as easily as buying a book on Amazon. Of course you will have your local homegrown but also an array of online options as well. It’s only logical.

Hello Red :)

interesting article, I didn't realize people in Colombia were already acting on the medical cannabis legislation. Pretty cool!

btw, do you mean an Indian from Cauca? because as you know, we are not all from Cauca, from every single one of us indeed came from the Cuca :D :yoinks:

peace!

Well I meant to post about this event that actually happened to me last week when I went to a meeting in the north of the city. As I was wading through the people on the sidewalk I came up on a little kiosk with a big banner say “marijuana”. I thought I mis read it but no there was this young Native Indian guy and his young wife a little baby strapped to her. They were from the valle de Cauca and made “extracts” from hybrid cannabis that they grew. I didn’t get a lot of information but he had an oil that said 35% THC on the vial (12,000COP). I was in a hurry and thought about snapping a picture but had to go and there were a lot of people all around. So I told the guy I’d be back to buy some oil but two hours later I returned to find him gone. Apparently some native Colombian Indians are allowed by law to cultivate process and market cannabis and have been for the past two years. However the guy I talked to said the plants they grow are not pure Colombian and are Afghan hybrids, the details I don’t know but it’s just another crippy I’m sure. The end of July is when the Colombian government is going to really hash out cannabis regulations and I have a feeling that like Jamaica, Colombia is going to get a jump on production and marketing.

I love your pictures, I remember you growing up in the Andes. The good old days when you could find the classic strains in Colombia. Thanks for the pics!

Bogota bud

Bogota bud

The coastal green (my name) came from an unusually bright green batch of buds I got directly from coast in the Santa Marta Mountains.

attachment.php

I almost threw this plant away but decided to keep it at the last moment. It was a very hardy plant and grew quickly with only soil, rain water and sunshine. The cured finished flowers produced the effect we seek in the plant. Much more vibrant and clean than the effect from the seeded bud she came from.

Hi Red,

You're killing me every time you post pictures of the Coastal Green. I love the look of that plant. Your descriptions of the high just reinforce it.

Keep up the good work,

Guzman is one of a growing group of Colombian entrepreneurs taking a big risk to treat patients with cannabis in a country where marijuana is practically a synonym for illicit drugs — and illicit drugs usually mean conflict. According to the country’s constitution, the cultivation and consumption of weed is legal for medicinal purposes, though its Ministry of Health and Social Protection hasn’t put out regulations on how the health industry can prescribe treatments, says Camilo García, a lawyer for medical marijuana patients who is also the executive director of the Colombian Cannabis Research Center. (A government official wasn’t available for comment.) Could these entrepreneurs be the brave few to blaze a new trail for Colombia’s drug trade, in which medical marijuana products will bypass drug trafficking?

Thanks ThaiBliss, this plant did remind me of having some strange Thai characteristics.

Colombian coastal green around 4 weeks

Punto Rojo male around 4 weeks

She was one of five seeds from the green bud that I planted together. The others didn’t make it for one reason or the other and I even almost disregarded this one too. The plant didn’t impress me too much in the beginning, it had funky leaves and very slow growth compared to the Punto Rojo male the same age. Soon the little coastal green plant would be pushed down the cannabis hierarchy, off by herself in a corner. I was distracted by the other Colombians (PR and SMG) as well as my new “imported” seeds to even notice the little CG.

Golden days

Golden days

Grown along with the purple coastal green was this other tasty variety from the highest coastal mountain range in the world. A classic “Gold”. I did nothing to the plant to make it this color. The cured taste is like sandalwood incense mixed with fine blond Lebanese hashish. The effect somewhat slow coming on but hits with a beautiful burst of creative motivation. The superb taste and moderate potency gives this bud great all day “smokeablity”.

Half breed

Half breed

Taking the long flowering SMG mother (NLD) and pollenating her with a super-fast flowering Dutch Afghan (WLD) a hybrid was created. The offspring (3 females) grew strong and fast finishing quick under the intense Colombian sunshine.

attachment.php

The finished flowers were an exotic treat for me. Although the pure Colombian effect was gone and new effect was created. A rich, full bodied effect transformed in to euphoric bliss, good night time medicine. Very pleasant but not as clear and focused as the SMG, however longer lasting and deeper felt. This is what I imagine the Indians are growing in Cauca or something similar. There’s nothing at all wrong with it, in fact it’s excellent top shelf smoke by any standard but it is not pure Colombian nor any type of representation of one. It is a new type all its own and grown out under this equatorial sun her effect is a tropical treat.

Red Rider - First of all, great picture of the Colombian Gold bud. Beautifully grown also. Wow!

attachment.php

About the Coastal Green - I think it looks very much like Thai, but also a bit like the Bushman's 1960's Jamaican Lambsbread, which has purple in it also. I believe I may have finally found a female from the seeds I have of it. If it continues to progress nicely, I'll post some pictures of it for comparison to Coastal Green, if you don't mind.

For now, I'll take the liberty of posting a Punto Rojo that is starting to flower for me, since I believe Punto Rojo is your favorite. It is a brutally hot summer here so far, which is causing me trouble. I hope it continues to do reasonably well.

Hey thanks ThaiBliss, the gold came out pretty good. I feel for you in the heat (in the 60s F. here at the moment) but I think the plants would like it to a point. Your Punto looks well on her way, are you thinking she will finish in December or sooner? Alas I can't find any local Punto Rojo, the only chance I have of growing her now is with imported Punto Rojo seeds (how ironic) and their mixed with Mexican. But I'm involved in another project of my own working with some of the black I've collected.
I think you only have a couple more days and you're legal there!!!!

It is growing indoors, of course. I think I've seen it listed at about 22 weeks, so late November to early December sounds about right. It will be cool again by then. LOL

Legal!
:yay:

I've got a medical card, I'm a grower for 3 patients, so I have plants out in the glorious sun, and I have been going to dispensaries to shop around for bud and plants. How great! It pretty much feels legal already except you can't smoke it out in public. The only change for me is an extra 4 plants to my plant count.

My understanding is that when the state issues commercial licenses next year, it will be by canopy size, square footage. This is excellent news for breeders. I will be able to grow hundreds or thousands in a relatively small area outdoors, cull hundreds based on ripening time, and have dozens or hundreds left for testing of the high. To top it off, the state has designated three counties, one of which I live in, to restrict hemp cultivation so that those strains don't pollute drug strain genetics. Paradise!

If your family wants to move back to the states, you should move here. The legalization rules here seem the best that I'm aware of. Too bad the climate is not the best for exotic strains. The San Diego area of California might be the best in the country for exotics.

One candidate for president in 2016 is vowing to roll it all back, but I don't think it will happen. It is becoming culturally acceptable.

Sounds like Colombia is following a similar pattern of progression there, just some years behind.

Best,

ThaiBliss

Yes sir I'm really excited for you and for the whole state & country. Your plants can now take full advantage of the summers there and you won't have to stress about legal issues. Win win, and the Punto Rojo showing sex, man good times for sure. Might have to have a short holiday around Christmas, ja ja ja. I really think if more folks up there get a taste for long flowering NLD your flowers are going to be the next big step with legalization. But looking real good ThaiBliss and you know I'm rooting for you! Here's another coastal green/purple for you.

Update 6/28/15

Update 6/28/15

Interesting night last night, Ray (my Colombian friend from Denver) called wanting some really good crippy for his visiting cousin. Well I lost my phone last week (causing a train wreck of lost calls) a whole other story but anyway I went to call George on my old cell phone that still had his number in it and for the first time in 10 years George didn’t pick up. I called all day yesterday but no connection. Ray called and I told him no go with George but I knew some other folks if he wanted to go to the University with me. Ray wasn’t into that and said he would call later.

attachment.php

I was really concerned about George but thought to just wait it out. Then about an hour later Ray calls saying he found this gringo living in La Candelaria that can help us out with so smoke. Ray just wants a little bit and says we will split it (what we buy) but it’s supposed to be really dank to quote Ray. I really didn’t want to go out on a Saturday night to La Candelaria to meet new “dope” people but Ray didn’t want to go alone and I was low so I said I’d go. La Candelaria isn’t far from my neighborhood but still takes about 15 – 20 minutes to get to and Ray and I took a bus close to the address and then took a cab directly where the dude lived. Rainy cold, dark and in the oldest part of the city, we called to confirm our location and a door opened and a Colombian guy ushered into the house. Ray was speaking to him in Spanish about the weed and Carlos invited us in for coffee.

attachment.php

It was a bar that was closed and shut down and we went to the back where there was like a little lounge. Ray and Carlos are talking and a young fellow comes in and says hi, the American. Turns out dude (can’t remember his name now) is from SF and has been living in La Candelaria for the past 4 years. He’s been growing on the rooftop there for 3 years using local crippy seed. He seems on the ball about growing but a little confused about genetics and growing conditions. Then two younger Colombian guys come in and join us, turns out they too dabble in cultivation. One of the guys has a finca outside of Bogota where here grows, again crippy seed. Carlos the older Colombian guy our host breaks out what he said to be the best quality flake (they always say it’s the best) and they partake but I’m not interested instead waiting to see the bud. Carlos a little drunk too insists that I at least taste a little of his counties finest and I licked the end of my finger and stuck it in the pile on the table then putting the coated finger directly back in my mouth. My whole mouth and front of my face numb like being at the dentist too long when the young American guy gets our weed.

attachment.php

I start telling everyone about my project of collecting and reproducing the pure original Colombian strains in Colombia. None of them knew anything about the old strains except Carlos but he couldn’t seem to remember Colombian weed before the late 90s. I went into detail about how special those old strains were back in the day and could be again. I explained to them about my theory about super potent high THC cannabis is great for medicine but the true spirt of cannabis was in the long flowering tropical NLD. I think maybe they got it but topic changed as soon as we hit the gringo’s homegrown crippy. The guy did an incredible job growing this caliber of weed in Bogota. Has a very ivory soap smell and taste that is absolutely delicious and a super richly euphoric clean effect, very potent. This weed made Georges “special” crippy look like mids and this guy (the gringo) had so much he only wanted 1,000 pesos a gram. A fifth of what George charges. I came home with a three month supply and some new grow friends

Are you talking about Christie? No way he would ever become president. I don't think he should even waste his time throwing his hat in the ring. As far as I know, most 2016 presidential candidates I've listened to say let the states make the decision. Paul would probably legalize but again, I don't think he has the votes. It's going to be an interesting election for sure.
