What could it be?

What could it be?

I saw this on FB, I have no idea where it's grown but looks interesting (could be hemp).

Good question, my theory is simple, straight forward and in my eyes quite obvious. It’s all about latitude and altitude, the closer to the equator the better. Let’s face it, the sun shines the brightest at the equator, it’s the most intense light source we have. Now you take into account altitude, every thousand feet up the light intensifies. So I’m sure you see where I’m going with this, El Dorado is indeed in Colombia. High altitude equatorial long flowering narrow leaf drug strain, dirt grown, sun ripened, finished with care. And just for fun, hand run dry sift.

I’m getting carried away again but yeah man it’s the sun.

no doubt!

the mountains of colombia will always produce the best cannabis... I love california, and with our long veg season and mediterranean autumn we can produce loads of really good cannabis but we dont have the same sun as the equator or long enough autumn to ripen cerain varieties... so places like colombia will always have the upper hand in terms of quality (when the right genetics are properly done, what cali has over other places is the culture and the development of our cannabis scene) but most californians wont consent to the fact that we dont have the best herb, its mostly ego and ignorance driven and I look forward to the day when we can cultivate and import/export all around the world.

here is some stash curing, this shit would thrive in the equatoral sun... I didnt even do this justice imo.

untrimmed ( I took these untrimmed pics just for you rr ;8^D)...

Infinitesimal- love the buds! The last 2 pics remind me of little skeleton hands flipping the middle finger- can you see it? :)

IMHO California does and has produced some of the finest cannabis in the world (All the PNW too). Respect. However in the new world, variety should be the norm. I want a "choice" of fine cannabis (and extracts) from around the globe. Authentic highest quality regional varieties from the best growers and exotic locations. Legal. And by all means anyone wanting to grow their own long flowering NLD do so and enjoy your own version. Colombian like many others is just one of the finest weeds we need, no more special than a Californian or a Texan (I have a hankering to try some Ozark dry sift).

Beautiful flowers Infinitesimal, thanks for putting them up in here. I like better trimmed too, the structure is incredible.

for sure different cultivars thrive at this latitude than yours and so the different locals are invaluable but all things being the same you cant really beat the combo of elevation and the equatoral/tropical sun, like you said.

Sweet spot 101

Sweet spot 101

That’s exactly my thinking, that Colombia has just the right “micro climate’s” to produce truly spectacular long flowering NLD plants. I’ve actually found two micro climates very close to Bogota that I want to experiment in. The first is south west of the city going down a huge valley that drops in altitude over a thousand feet from Bogota to a sweet spot at 2000 meters. The climate there reminds me of the east coast of Kauai but not as wet. This valley has an assortment of little fincas perfect for growing flowers (which they do already). Here is where I would want to grow tropical fruity cannabis (ganja) for flower smoking.

The other climate I’m interested in is north east of the city about two hours in Boyacá on a high and dry mesa (2500+ meters). There’s an area there that is right on the fringe of being a desert but still gets reasonable rainfall. The sunlight there was so intense I couldn’t see without shades on. And much more sunny days there without long monsoon rains seasons. Here I want to grow only for hashish, no pretty manicured buds, in fact no buds will leave this farm. I just want to set the seed and let it grow till ripe, cut it down let it dry for a few months. Then beat the hell out of it over screens and finally hand work it to perfection, smash it into a brick and slap a seal on it and UPS to your door.

There’s so many micro climates here that seem to me offer many possibilities for growing unique outdoor cannabis. I can’t be the only one here thinking about this.

I might start a thread devoted to pictures of wild hemp. It grows all over the place where I live. It's not true hemp like back in WWII. It has changed over the years as it has become accustomed to the Midwest environment. The structure of the plant has slightly changed over the years.

I don't think it's hemp, lol.

Of course you can start another one but I believe there's a few threads on here already. Hemp pics are ok and somewhat interesting, but after a few times trying to get high with them, might as well just be any other plant. Kind of like breast implants, looks incredible but feels like nothing.

LOL I would have to disagree with you over breast implants looking incredible. But you're right about Hemp being boring.

hola red :)

the plant in the pic may not be hemp just because of what the caption says; if the caption was added by the people growing it, it is surely not hemp. if it was added by someone who just found the picture on-line, who knows what it is.

"organic grows destined for our ancestral natural medicine"

wouldn't it be awesome that the genome dna cannabis project that Sam is involved with, throws results saying that Colombia is indeed a native place of cannabis? :yoinks: but I am dreaming of course...

You know really it would be cool to see pictures of the feral hemp in your area. I've only seen it live once back in the 70s in South Dakota. It really looked fantastic with great buds and plant structure. So yeah man I'd love to see some hemp shots.

Yeah I cultivated feral hemp when I was a teenager. I took one of the plants I found growing on a roadside, planted it near my house, and got lucky it was a female. I even tried to smoke it because the buds looked really nice. Some of the buds even turned purple. It grosses me out to think I was stupid enough to smoke some of that shit. haha

I smoked lots of feral roadside hemp in central Minnesota in my teens. Horrible taste, headache, frustration are all I remember. Of course it wasn't dried or cured properly, GREEN.

I've had one plant that reminded me of it taste wise: CBD shark, also almost not weed :/.

hehe I'm glad I'm not the only one to try that. Welcome to the club my friend. I wonder what roadside hemp would taste like if it was cured for like a year. I'm sure it would be loaded with CBD. I don't recommend anyone go out of there way to try smoking wild hemp though. lol

Sometimes it concerns me when seed companies print "HEMP SEEDS" on the back of their breeder packs. They will print something like "Hemp seeds are illegal in some countries" on the package. In my opinion, the term "Hemp" should not be used to refer to drug cultivar varieties of cannabis.

Ha. I got some good hemp stories. one specific plant I found by itself isolated, grew it to perfection outdoors. looked like trichome covered frosty goodness. nice medicinal smell like white widow or something. when properly dried n cured, tasted like dog shit, and didn't get u high at all.

also a couple good stories about stopping by the fields before I knew they had 0 thc get u high value, n loaded up big trash bags full. to think of the legal trouble we thought we could have got in for useless get high value. lol im sure a lot of people have done this same thing. I wonder though now knowing they have little thc, how much trouble u could get in. I mean these crops are leftover from when the govt was encouraging people to grow hemp. How could they throw u in jail for something they promoted?
