Fonzee - yeah it does look nice for sure!

blimey - tbh im relieved to be doing a reasonable job to give justice to Mr.G's CB, and yes it will be interesting to see the difference between the elites and my own selections.

Fire On High - good question as to which is better for yield - more or less tops. i suspect it doesnt effect the total weight too much as long as each bud has a little space - and they tend to expand to fill the space as long as there arent too many big gaps.

i think 12 colas - 4x3 is about ideal for my screens but every plant is different and grows different. the ECSD puts out sideshoots more readily than the SD/OD. the skill in scrogging consistently is to go with the flow of what the plant wants to grow like and help it do it's thing. i do quite a bit of tinkering about sometimes - pulling branches right back under and re-routing them to fill gaps, wiring them so they lean towards any spaces and dont crowd each other.

---

in other news i made the Cherryjuana (Herijuana x Cherry Bomb) cross yesterday and it's pretty clear that the pollen has taken on the heri (which is in my other cab). :dance013:
im hoping to send some pollen to a guys i know who has more heris to flower, but whatever happens i should have some seeds made here :dance013:

hey schwagg - yeah i have lots of crosses ive made that still need growing out... the Cherryjuana should really be a winner - two ibl's crossed together. as soon as ive grown out thsi fantastic batch of elits ive come by - which will take this round and the next - i'll be testing out some of these crosses.

the Cherry Bomb has some great traits too - like very little pre-flower stretch, vigor etc that should make some nice crosses.

i took a bit of a risk with the elites in that i didnt mum up the all the cuts - this round i put them all into flower the took cuts to make mums out of - luckily they have all rooted i think, perhaps one of the Sour D's not yet but looks like it's on the way.

guanito :) cheers mate!

here is my ghetto clone setup. a half seed tray with a dome. i use the seed trays with drainage holes in the bottom and tape up all but the holes right in each corner - 4 in all.

clones are rooted in jiffy peat pucks (i used to use coco pucks but i think the cuts grow better after rooting in the peat) the chem D rooted in a bout 10 days.

the tray is kept in a small cab - literally the size of the tray with a single cfl warm white bulb above. i change the wattage of the bulb to regulate temperature 70-75F (you can see the fishtank thermometer inside)- from about 9 watts to 23 watts depending on ambients. ventilation in the cab is just two 1" holes in the base of the back panel and two in the top - so warm air rises and goes out the top holes drawing cooler air into the bottom. very simple but effective. i mist the clones once or twice a day.

sounds good herb... i PM'ed you earlier.

Mr Farmer - thanks for the kind words, how long? well ive been growing for 20 years ar so but not continuously - there have been gaps of a few years here and there. i dont see why anyone couldnt get to 'this point' after a year of scrogging different strains. it becomes a very instinctive process where you look at each plant and what needs doing is obvious. tbh you also need a bit of luck which ive had with this latest cab. this modular scrog method takes out a lot the the 'variables' that can trip you up in a grow. each plant is kept within it's allotted area. the method probably flatters me, as does the organic soil mix i use which plants are generally always happy in. i also spent a long time planning the cab and setup and thinking through how it would work and that probably helped.
i've also been a professional gardener/garden designer for 10 years or so and that puts the whole growing weed and cannabis plant into perspective, all in all its a pretty easy plant to grow and i really appreciate the 'control' you get from growing indoors.

the two diesels are looking great and budding up. little more stretch going on too. i swapped my red t5's back to the UV tubes and they will stay for the rest of the grow.

the CB's are starting to smell - very much a pez type smell. in the UK we get little purple sweets called parma violets and they smell a bit like that...

Looking good there VG  I love your KISS method to root cuttings. About all I do differently is put a heating pad on low under my cuttings. I might check on them once a day, if that. Rarely loose one, and most root in 7-10 days. I agree with your assessment of growing. Cannabis is a very forgiving plant. The best advice I ever got as a new grower was, "Don't mind fuck it Man. There's a reason it's called 'weed'. It'll grow." LOL :ying:

Beautiful VG! I like checking your thread and finding new pictures and info.

Do you think that by moving the light to 8" away from the bulb you sacrifice yield or increase quality? I remember you liked to keep the light a couple of inches closer (6") before in order to maximize yield.

hey SB - sounds good. my little cab is so small that the cfl bulb keeps it warm enough without a heat pad. heated pads and propagators are great but they really need a thermostat or you run the risk of cooking your seeds/cuttings

D9, i use my hand span from thumb to forefinger to quickly judge if the tops are far enough from the light - and having measured that it is about 7", and i m trying to keep them just a little further than that. what you find is that, up to about 8-9" away, the further you get from the shade the more light you get at the edges (and less in the middle) many people keep their lights closer but you find that you get a sweet spot in the centre at the expense of irradiating the whole canopy more evenly

sacko! - do you mean planting the peat pucks into soil? yeah i find that works just great... thanks for stopping by mate - isnyt it about time you updated your thread?? been waiting to see the new round in bud...

mad - yeah the widger is a great tool - but i find the pucks are good for visually being able to see the roots. once a few are through the edge its time to pot them up...

just about to post new pics....
