the first UK cheese got chopped today at 9 weeks. here is a poor photo that cuts some of the buds off the bottom - too late to take any more now. it really does stink. i would probably run only one in the cab in future as i think it may be too much even for my phat filter!
picture.php

the other cheese will get chopped in another week or two.

only one of the 4 JTR is looking like it may be famale. 2 are pretty certainly males.

and here is a look at my very low tech cloning set up - simply a half size propagator with a 9watt warm white cfl above. i take the cuts, dip in clonex and pop into a jiffy coir pellet and they root in 1-2 weeks. i keep the temp as near to 70 as possible which usually means no extra heating, but if it gets really cold i put a heated mat or propagator base underneath.

nice one dondeago! - grown by your own hand always tastes best!

hey df - i'm hoping for 1g/watt or more but we'll see :)
scissor hash, im ashamed to say i dont really like it - too jittery for me
i just chopped and hung em - i'll trim them up when dry. supposed to be better this way and for me it is more convenient to not have to chop and trim at the same time.
as for the bud sampling i do have a joint i rolled yesterday that i'll try tonite.(good way of drying it out is to roll it up damp with tobacco and then let it sit for 24 hours)

got some new pics to come

ok, the JTR - out of 4 i have 3 males and one that is yet to show which i think, hope, pray is a girl. - this one. nice plant.
picture.php

the tallest, lankiest male has already been chopped and i am left with one very compact one, the smallest of the four, and one tall but fairly bushy one.
in the below pic the two males are on the left, the possible female on the right. i'm leaning towards the short male as a keeper as this was also the last to show (early showing males are supposedly less desirable)

photo was taken under hps. anyone have any tips for me on which to keep then please speak up :)

here is the cheese that is still left in the cab - 8 weeks - this one had 20% coco added to the soil mix (whearas the other one that was just harvested didnt) you can see that this one has yellowed up as a result and should make for some great smoke. it has also corned up or foxtailed a little more than the other. interesting to see how a small adjustment can make such a difference. i prefer them to go yellow and suck themselves dry of nutes by the end.
picture.php

and the Black Forrest at 10 weeks - foxtailing like mad now, the stems are bending under the weight of the buds. got a little dry bud off this to test later too.:joint:. i'm looking forward to getting some new plants in the cab as well.

nug - not the biggest one but a nice one :)

thanks sleepy!

hi magiccannabus - how about your buds that are the perfect distance from your lamp?(5-6 inches) they should be dense (my ethos is to get all my buds in that sweet spot :) )

if not it could be the genetics, or pot size, or environment. I havent been to your thread for a while so i should take a look :)

Oh the density is good, but the size is not like what you're getting. I may be switching to larger pots, as well as changing my mix a bit. I think they're getting too much nitrogen in flower, organic sequestering of nutrients or not. I'm thinking less manure composts in my soil for flower, and more clay, coir, and foods like Flower-Tone. I'm intrigued by your use of topsoil. I have had a lot of pest problems from topsoil though so I am scared to use it....

Temps are an issue too. For the first time in my life my grow is too cold. I need to start the furnace soon but I am too poor to run it yet. My new job isn't adding up to a lot yet.

i have a similar problem developing. i've put a couple of heated propagator bases in the airflow/ducting into my cab. my intake is from a ceiling level cupboard in my bedroom and i am thinking of buying a tube heater to heat that cupboard rather than having to heat my whole house just to keep the cab temps up.

the other thing to consider is heat mats under the pots. soil temp needs to be 65-70 and if you keep this right then the air temps can go lower.

hope this may help

well i'm pleased to say i got a female from the JTR :woohoo: - luckily it was a nice short pheno - im going to try and post pics of the plants with the screen just fitted. here it is - they always look a mess at this stage and i imagine that this has some stretch in it still. seed plants tend to stretch more than cuts too.
picture.php

here are the two males i had left. i kept the short one which smelled slightly more dank and clearly has better growth traits! - it's a pretty good match for the female too. hopwfully i will make some seeds with this. F2's would be interesting and probably very variable given thay this is a multi hybrid.

seriously thinking about putting a MH bulb in for the next week just to finish the cheese and BF - see if it generates more trichs and terpenes.

my CMH hasnt arrived yet :(

thanks ehonda- the cheese i harvested a week ago is getting towards the stage where i can properly give it a test drive. and the one pictured above is almost done. i'm looking forward to getting some new plants in. shame about only 1 female JTR from 4 but at least it was a nice compact pheno

Hey thanks for the above screen shot of your training. Just the kind of thing I need. I need to level out my canopy, but I can't do a scrog because i have to be able to turn my plants around looking for PM. Maybe individual screens is the way to go.
