i'll get back to you on that mad, just got back from a week away and it's been really hot here. i left capillary matting to watter the plants but it was all dry when i got back. the bubba was the only plant in flowerin either of my cabs and was wilted when i looked a minute ago - but i think it may just live, some leaves were crispy but the buds felt ok still. i'll get a better look tomorrow.

all my mums and vegging plants have made it though - just.

and the house didnt burn down so im happy with that

GREAT SUCCESS! good to hear it wasnt a total loss man!

VerdantGreen, been reading an old thread of yours about using "topsoil in the mix". I'm planning on starting building a soil mix so I was wondering if you'd care to share how you got on with the shop bought loam in the mix.

If you are still using it that answers its effectiveness but I was curious how it is to water aeration and drainage wise. I mean that's the reason why most gardeners recommend not using topsoil in containers isn't it. Also, if you are still using it what have you done to recondition each time. After that thread back in 2009 (I think) I can't find any mention of how it performed.

Cheers

right, the bubba lives, just some crispy leaves - although it kind of looks ripe already at 5 weeks so maybe the yield will suffer a bit...

cheesebuds - thanks mate :tiphat:

hazydreams - yeah, the airpots are not so good for a wick system so i may nave to try a dripper or something next time.

Supernatural - still using the topsoil. your observations are correct about it being 'heavy' but it is just part of a mix and the perlite etc mitigate the possible disadvantages. i quite like the way it holds some water and have always found that pure peat based compost with no soil dry out too quickly for my methods. i add soil to my tomato pot mix as well.

bootz - good to see you mate!

ill get some pics of the bubba as soon as i can - kids still off school. ;)

Thanks for your reply. I have stacks of peat based compost from previous years I will mix in but I'd rather find alternatives. I was interested in soil/loam for its organic properties in sustaining a herd as much as anything really.

Kids off school is a bit difficult. Have a teenager here who thankfully doesn't recognise the look of a certain plant amongst others in the garden but bringing her in to a hidden cabinet each night is something that requires careful planning. He'd think nothing of it otherwise but start taking pictures and he'd get suspicious.

To be clear, it is the plant that I bring in to a cab each night, not the lad.

What's the background to the pre-98 Bubba?

I wanna hear about the Chem smoke report too when you have the time. Another great run for you, do you ever fail?

hey guys, the chem d is a very potent, and so far i think i like it best out of the chem and diesel based cuts ive been growing recently - but they are all strong, cricket bat to the head type smokes and its harder to tell the subtle qualities of the high. time will tell.

here is the bubba at just under 6 weeks. looking pretty ready to me. maybe the near death experience made her finish a bit early :D
few mites in there but nothing to worry about at this stage. yield wise it looks similar to the deep chunk i scrogged, perhaps a bit more.

cheers g0v, the bubba finally got chopped yesterday, i guess at around 7-8 weeks. looked pretty much the same as above.

nothing in the cab atm, im waiting to see how my temps are with the hps in my bigger cab during the hot weather, also i have changed the light cycle so the lights run at night.

cheers for now

Hey VG,

Sweet thread! Quick question for you... How much hotter does your custom light run compared to the 63w model? Also, would you compare it to the new penetrator pro 63w considering they have the same power draw other than 3w vs 1w leds? Sorry to bring up an old thread, but you are rocking these micro leds so hard that you have inspired me to build a ngb style led cab with 2 of these things. 18in x 12in per chamber with the 63w for veg and possibly the 104w for flower... oh yeah

Me again. lol. Just noticed that you are using 90 degree lenses instead of the standard 60 degrees. Is this to prevent light saturation in your small cab?

hi all, i havent been flowering plants in this cabinet over the warmer months because its been a bit too hot - not so much in the cab, but the ventilation is 'plumbed' into my bigger cab and mum cab so the combination of all at the same time ends up too hot in the summer!

ive got a bubba kush that im vegging up to flower in here and also a Bubba x DC seedling which i hope will be a male and then i'll back-cross it to the bubba clone.

pics soon

nearly ready to flip - here is a bubba kush that ive been vegging up and LSTing ready to fill half the cab.

in the other half i'm running a bubba x Deep chunk cross which i made last time - there will be much rejoicing if this turns out to be male as i really want to do a back-cross to the bubba ( i only got 1 seed so otherwise i'll have to do the cross to DC again.

and also i have 3 Cherryjuana seedlings which is another cross i made - Herijuana x Mr Greengenes cherry bomb (which is am old-school maui wowie ibl) . looking forward to growing some out, i sent a few to a friend for a test grow and he was quite impressed with them - so hoping for a girl here.
i also sent 10 packs of the cherryjuana to the server fund a while back.

cheers :tiphat:
