VerdantGreen's 104 watt micro grow with custom HG LED (ScrOG)

well marley it can be hard to generalise but your sats should stop stretching in a week or two at the outside. remember that when the screens are full you can take up some stretch as they grow upwards and a few inches of growth above the screen can be great for yield.

when thay have stopped stretching, if the growth is very congested then dont be scare to cut a few of the weaker stems/sideshoots off completely if they are trying to grow in the same space.

cheers

VG

Thanks VG I appreciate the response. I love the flexibility of the mod. scrog, I suppose I just need to start taking advantage of it. Being able to adjust each individual pot's height is a great tool especially when growing different strains. This is why I loved your mod. scrogs to begin with!

hey scroger ill try and get some pics but its just a box that the ducting goes into and out of with a couple of tube heaters
if you made the box big enough it could double as a drying compartment too when you didnt need the heat ;)

the other important thing when trying to heat the intake air is to have it coming in slower - to warm up better. the ruck temp controlled fans from greens are the ticket for that (UK)

marley - no worries - they can overgrow the screen sometimes but if you are lucky they will top out before they grow too tall off it. some of mine get to a foot above the screen and are fine - need a bit of wiring to keep the buds in the right place.

hi all, managed to grab a quick pic of haze6 this morning. around 8 weeks and it is starting to yellow a bit. i am hesitant to feed it and have been advised not to. i did put a little hoof and horn in the soil mix for slow release nitrogen (1g / litre) so that should help a little. i love this plant.

haze 3 is coming along nicely too, pretty sure it has stopped stretching now too. i'll get a pic when i can.

Hiya VG,
Why are you hesitant to feed her ? Is the worry that a nitrogen hit would run the risk of the plant returning to veg? I think I read something about that somewhere.
She'll be a propper gnarly one come the end!
Peace.

hey daoboxer, i doubt it would return to veg but from what i have been told and read, haze and tropical sativas ripen better when under very low N - and feeding N late on can result in the buds just keep foxtailing and getting very airy. like i said there shod be a little slow release N in the soil and i will probably give some molasses ( 1 teaspoon / gallon ) just to feed the microherd and help it process what is in the soil. i guess the molasses will give a few nutrients too - mainly cal/mag and P

Ok, I see. As an aside, do you think that only sensi plants would display this behavior, as an attempt to keep going long enough to produce some seed (given availability of excess nitrogen)?
Either way, looking great. Haze6 looks a lovely plant.

hey dao, haze is very 'hardcore' sativa and its quite hard to grow them indoors. i think the low N just helps them finish or otherwise they would keep flowering. - perhaps as you say because they havent been pollinated.

almost forgot - here is haze 3 from yesterday - i think this has stopped stretching now but i think the buds will be much smaller than haze6 in the end. they are starting to get some tric coverage though...

Oh my that Haze bud is beautiful. Very nice looking grow VG. Maybe once I get some more scrog experience I'll try and grow a haze. Some of my fav smoke.

How much foliage do you cut off in your scrogs? Your Hazes look like they have a bunch, similar to my sativa's I'm running. I've been doing light trims but not real sure how much/little I should be taking off (above the scrog).

thanks stonedar! - clearly it will yield shit but who cares if it's good hazy smoke ;)

marley i dont really cut off any leaves - perhaps just a few that are sitting right over another budsite. some people advocate that kind of thing but i'm not one of them im afraid.
usualy they can be tucked out of the way or inder the screen.
if you do have to remove leaves then try and take the older ones as they lose their photosynthetic efficiency as they age.

thumbs up for the pink pistils! looking fine as always. i'm sure you've covered this many times over, but do you feed during flower? i know you have your own soil mix i'm just wondering if the soil does it all or if you augment it during the flowering period to feed them?

i know that the heavy sativa is pretty lanky, but with a heavy indica father, maybe some colorful hairs and dense nugget could be had... this is dependent on how it burns as well!

thanks superpedro!

hazydreams, i dont really feed during flower as the soil mix is made to be 'complete'. i generally just add water that is pHed to 6 with citric acid (my tapwater has pH9) the citric acid also helps break down the soft rock phosphate in the soil mix and proved P.
also i use big pots, 3-4 gallons of soil.

having said that, because i run new genetics all the time (strains i havent grown before) i keep an eye on the plants and if they start to fade early or look hungry i use either biobizz bloom or home-made comfrey extract to feed them. sometimes with heavy yield indicas i will give them a few feeds anyway. i also give them molasses 1 teaspoon/gallon in mid - late flower 2-3 times. ive given these hazes molasses a couple times.

i think i posted my soil mix a few pages back in the thread, if you cant find it then ask and i'll dig it out again.

----

im still thinking the hazes might finish earlier than i was first expecting, probably the 10/14 day/night will have speeded them up.

Hi VerdantGreen,

I must admit: I used to make fun of people who asked questions about LED several years ago but i see now that LED is definitely growable nowadays :) Great work, your hazes look amazing. Nice phenotypes you got there :D I wish I had something like your haze 6, mine looks like your #3 :), guess I have to get another pack ;)

garuda - yeah haze 6 will certainly be a winner if it smokes well - but ive read a few times that the best hazes are the ones that take the longest to finish. also they apparently get stronger as they get older so the second run might be more potent... i think i can smell 'potency' in buds and i would say haze6 smells potent to me. we will see ;)

rastaidd, g0v - thanks guys.

bloodlock, youve given me an idea.

you can all weigh in if you like and state when you think the two hazes will finish.

haze6 (the fat one) is at 9 weeks in the pic

haze3 (the skinny one) is at 8 weeks.

my guess is 12 weeks for haze 6 and 15 weeks for haze3. prize for the winner. did i tell you i made some seeds with each of them??? ;) you can see the odd bud on the left of haze 6 (the upper one) it is full of seeds.....
