its shit like this that will put trump into office, way to go america bunch of freetards

Hey man I hate Trump too but I think he would actually be against something like this. Don't talk down to America like that it's not cool. We are a country of well over 300 million. Please don't paint us all with a broad brush.

My question is how would they even know if someone is collecting rain water in the first place? It's not like they can just walk onto your property and check for rain barrels attached to your gutters.

They may start putting a surcharge on new rain barrels.

Maybe the do-gooders will rat you all out. :moon:

i'd think it would be lot like growing on the sly
if you tell no one, no one(else) knows
but if someone else knows, you could be ratted out

We already pay it here on the water bill. Exactly as it is being discussed here, calculated to the area of the land each person holds (but just for the proprieties that are racorded to a water service). And we also pay the sewer tax for each liter of water we use out the main water pipe.

So yeah, most probably, a tax on the air we breathe isn't that far away.

Ya I'm being screwed there too. You don't even want to know what my quarterly water/sewer bill is for a small multi family.

Can see this one be referred to as a rat tax.
If you see something, say something ,lol . The Nancy Regan line of "just say no" works out better here.

Some trivia for you. Colorado just made it legal for collecting rain water in a rain barrel. Colorado has had a strange set of water laws forever since it is so arid here. The senior (oldest in history) water rights holders had the first draw of the water in a dry period. The junior water rights holders often got no water because it was all spoken for. The theory on rainwater goes that if you catch rainwater, you are diverting water before it gets to the senior water rights holder. I told you it was strange!

I just read that the senate stopped this. It did not pass.

It is still illegal to collect rainwater from your own fucking roof. That's some bullshit.

ina word, GS... drones. Local governments can now have 'close air support' at relatively low cost and gain a few more empire building, employees to flyem.

we loose our freedoms in many ways most = more taxes or fines or another word for take money from the public in the name of law and order..

EDIT: and the media will make most of 'them' believe its a good idea; as long as it make more money for the govt at all or any levels.

In southern Nevada the state water engineer want to install meters, at the expense of home/well owners, on all private domestic wells. He wants to limit private well draws to .5 acre foot of water per year. If you use more than the .5 acre foot you pay a huge fine. Currently, private well owners are legally entitled to 2 acre foot per year for their use. It would be a very well estimated guess that 99% of well owners use way less than the .5 acre foot per year. But there are those of use that have livestock, gardens, etc and we still don't use the full 2 acre foot per year.
BUT---under their new meter plan, if you think you need more than the .5 acre foot they want to limit us to you can PURCHASE addition water in .5 acre foot increments from some new government agency. Go figure. The only reason they haven't done this yet is because private well owners have a law which declares they have the right to 2 acre foot and they haven't yet figured out how to get around it.
The water rights laws clearly state if you hold water rights it's a use it or loose it law. The State engineer will not call for proof of beneficial use. Why? Because he's sided with the large water rights holders, several of whom are large property developers with huge water rights, who have not provided proof of beneficial use in years. He will not take their water rights so it's easier to fuck the private well owner.

are you guys sure this is a fact? considering the sources for these "news", I'd doubt it.

And as Trout suggested already, some states will actually encourage you to collect your own water.

if you see "news" like these from "naturalnews" or "veteranstoday" you know it is most likely false or incidents taken way out of context to increase shock-value, and the gullible eat it right up.

just do a simple google search about about how legal it is to collect rain water in your area and you'll see that there are rules and regulations in some places due to past abuses.

There was some guy that dug channels and dams in his property to collect rain water, effectively cutting off the flow of water out of his property. So only this guy has rights to that water? what about the wild-life and natural ponds that depend on that flow of water?
so the dude got sent to jail for 30 days and fined and his dams had to go. Then people started saying collecting rain water was illegal LOL.... when in fact, rain collection systems to collect water from your roof or parking lot were not illegal at all, yet up to this day, people keep saying it is illegal.

if you saw the move: The Short, about the housing bubble collaps, the last screen of the move asks 'what do you see as the next bubble?' the answer was WATER.

sooner or later they figure out a way to tax it dearly or control it somehow... more important than oil!

I can see that if someone had a large rain catchment system, but I was thinking more along the lines of a few barrels by the side of the house attached to the gutters. I'm no expert but I don't think that would show up on google earth.
