We( icmag crew) were the 1 who started calling it the brightside cut not brightside himself.
Whenever I read this thread it always occurs to me why there aren’t more UK based cuts that are gaining ground. Maybe I’m just totally out of the loop and there’s plenty of unique flowers that have been grown and selected on UK soil?
One things for sure - we’ll still be using genetics from either; mainland Europe, or from over the pond, for a good while yet.
From what I remember there were a great deal of cuts that were bandied around 10 or so years ago that I just don’t hear so much about. Kentish Cream, Blue Meanie, Kali Shnapple (not sure I’ve got that name right), The G as hazy just mentioned. Probably a load more that I fail to remember.. Weren’t all of the above pretty unique to the island? Maybe they were just imports?
Maybe someone could educate me on some new UK elites that aren’t just cuttings of US bred varieties? (No offence to the American brothers/sisters, your plants are great).
Bit off topic but I’m always surprised at cheese and it’s close siblings (whether they are or not) being at the top of the pile in regards to what’s on offer. I’ve tried a few of the offerings mentioned in this thread and I get it, they fecking stink, but they’re far from being at the top of my list. The Blues on the other hand was much nicer (also mentioned here).
Maybe the attachment is just because this was the first UK cutting that really gained international prominence?
Anyway, rambling now.. hopefully not incoherently.
