Tyrone's Arboretum and Cannabinoid Oasis

Hey Tyrone, hope its not too off topic, since youre experimenting with different cannabinoid combinations, have you ever tried hhc?
Hey Jaques, I have dabbled a bit. It seems to be a great legal alternative to D9 in my very limited experience.

I have had some edibles that were pleasant feeling in low doses. I am quite sensitive to D9, so HHC is fairly similar in that respect.

I also had a disposable vape that was interesting. I took a light puff and waited about 30 min, but felt nothing. I then took a large puff and got uncomfortably high. I ended up giving it to a friend who has been thoroughly enjoying it. It can induce a lot of coughing due to the density of the hits you can get, but the vapor itself not overly harsh if that makes sense.

I would like to play with it a bit more to see if the HHC relationship to CBD and CBG is similar to that of D9THC. I think that might make HHC a bit more tolerable for me.

But with all that said, I like it even though it may end up being a bit too similar to THC for me to want to continue using it.

Wow, thanks a lot for the reply Tyrone!
I had some yesterday and am not quite sure if i like it or not yet, i will need to do more testing :)
Here in europe where i live it popped up just recently in some vending machines that usually carry CBD and GBG buds or hash.
It came as hash, advertised to have 20% HHC wich is fairly low and i like that fact.
I rolled a small ammount of that hash into a super thin stick and put it in a small handrolled cig. Smoke was ok.
Ive seen pens and dabbable stuff but they were highly concentrated of course and not my cup of tea.
Now, when youre making HHC from THC or CBD you always end up with 2 different kinds of HHC, one that is more prone to bind to receptors and one less prone.
I guess the ratio between those in the final mix also will have influence on the effect for sure.
All i can say so far is that the onset of effects seemed to be very delayed, like at least 30 minutes till it was really on.
And the quality of effects was not really complex, nicely activating, not tyring, no brain fog at all but kinda one dimensional and short lived. Like 90ies RnB where you have people singing over the same 4 bar loop for minutes, wich can be nice but not all day every day.
Also i got the red eye and slight munchies and it left a good feeling after it wore off too so no real comedown on this.
These 2 grams of hash will probably last me forever, although what i am really concerned about is purity of the product, since its kinda grey market stuff. I bet it will be illegal before i can toke it all up haha.

Awesome that you have vending machines with these products in your area. Where do they usually place them? Is there any age restriction?

I wonder what the "hashish" base is. Maybe a CBD hemp pressed kif? Did it taste/smell like cannabis resin? Do you have any pics of the hash? The closest thing I can find is on cannahealthamsterdam.com that is 41.7% CBD and 20% HHC.

Have they prohibited other cannabinoids like D8 in your area? I feel like there are so many now that it will be impossible for governments to keep up. Either they'll find a catch-all way to ban them all, or maybe they'll eventually stop trying to control the way people choose to alter their consciousness. It is sad how badly prohibition has backfired, but they just keep doubling down on it.

The state of the garden isn't great. Dealt with some nutritional issues and caught a thrip infestation very early. The Maddog2020 CBG (top-right) and White Dog CBG (bottom-left) have been struggling the most with nutrition. They are much hempier plants with more feral qualities. I am not a fan so far. I have contemplated putting them in the compost bin and moving on, but at this point I am resigned to flower them out before I completely write them off. Luckily they're starting to green back up and as soon as they are healthy I'll flip.

I have been hacking everything back in hopes that it would give the Cali Kush (middle) some extra light, but it just won't stretch. Next time around I'm not going to supercrop it and see if that will help.

The Sour Tangie CBG #3 (top-left) is just chugging along. It has really brittle stems, unfortunately. I have snapped 2 tops almost clean-off, save for a few threads of celluslose. Luckily it was just enough hanging on to throw a zip-tie splint on and keep it alive.

The Ceasefire F2 (bottom-right) is starting to rev up growth now. I love the look of the leaves.

I also harvested the Sour Tangie CBG #4. It was deep in senescence and no longer taking up nutrients. This plant is extremely funky putrid dankness. This tiny thing can be smelled from quite a distance outdoors. Despite how poorly she flowered, I am ecstatic that I have finally found a CBG variety with terps. While the MD2020 and WD varieties have some as well, but they are not nearly as pleasant as the ST#4. And on top of all that, this lady has more funk than a lot of popular Type I varieties out there. That bodes very well for her siblings. Can't wait to see what #3 does indoors.

i'm in the EU so theres a 0.3 Thc limit on everything. vending machines are usually outside of tobacco stores but i've seen some at gas stations aswell. hhc might be a loophole at the moment. looks indeed like some cbd flowers kief base, they also offer oils and dabbable stuff for pens and pre filled pens. its a german company, so its imported. they claim that its derived from high thc plants grown under license somewhere in europe, but neither the outer packaging nor the actual container were sealed in any way so it makes it look a bit dodgy to me... it smells medium strong and is pretty sticky but theres almost no taste at all. wont buy it again i guess. also seems to have a quick tolerance buildup. i'm probably throwing it away even,... Heck, it doesn't look half-bad, honestly. But if you think it's a too sketchy, best to be safe than sorry. Especially since it wasn't sealed. That is a shame. It doesn't appear easy to get alt cannabinoids in the EU. Best place I've found is https://www.pharmabinoid.eu/ but they are strictly isolates/distillates and have a fairly high MOQ. But they might be able to work with you, or refer you to a reseller if you send them a note.

I have heard that the tolerance buildup of HHC is similar to THC in small to moderate doses, but if you are consuming higher doses it can build up more quickly. That is anecdotal, though.
Wishing you a stress free flowering cycle and am happy to hear you found something that excites you.
The Ceasefire looks indeed very beautiful, what type of plant is it?
Thank you! I am wishing the same. This may be my last hydro grow. Finally have everything I need for living soil.

The Ceasefire F2 was made by a talented bay area private breeder. This is my first time growing it out, so I am going to refer to my notes for this and I hope BW will correct me if I get anything wrong.

P1's are: Guava Jelly (2:1 CBD) x Syrian Landrace (RSC)

Within the F1 generation 3 phenotypes (that I'm aware of) were selected from for F2s:
  • Ceasefire F2 'H' (High resin, Fruity Mint/Pine, NLD)
  • Ceasefire F2 'D' (Fruitiest, Grape/Berry, WLD)
  • Ceasefire F2 'E' (Bright fruit, intermediate expression)
I'm running 'E' right now. It should come out to be a relatively balanced 1:1 variety, but I am hoping to get it to a lab to find out. So far it's a great looking plant, has a bright herbal/floral stem rub and seems quite vigorous.

That's essentially it, there was more phenos in there but those were the best three plants. The Syrian line was really varied in expression, and breeds that way as well. Glad to see they're looking healthy, love the leaf shape. E had the favorite aroma, bright mixed fruit (not really berry or grape), with some creamyness after it's been in glass a bit. You may get some colors in there in late flower as well.

Thanks BW! I am looking forward to sampling it.

Plants are doing better now. I gave up on the White Dog CBG. I am not growing any more varieties from that breeder. So far everything I have grown from them has been a waste of time and detracted from anything it touches. Clone and mom went into the compost heap. Seeds have been disposed of.

Here we are 2 days into flower

Loving the Ceasefire F2's vigor. I am really starting to notice the lighter greens coming through from the Syrian parent now. It has a strong contrast against its Afghan-descended roommate. Just after this picture was taken, the two side shoots were pinched and bent to leave room for the central top. It just keeps getting dwarfed. You can see the central top better in the picture above.

Mad Dog 2020 CBG is looking a bit crusty still, but has bounced back enough. I am going to give it a good prune and very light defoliation in a week to focus its energy a bit.
MD1 2Fa.jpg

The Cali Kush is just existing on its own time. It reminds me of a cat. No matter what I do to try and have an influence, it constantly reminds me that I do not call the shots here. Good thing this is the best smelling plant in the tent and it happens to be covered from top to bottom in resin.

And finally, we have the Sour Tangie CBG #3. I broke her neck AGAIN! This time it was a few cm above the last break which was still in the process of healing. I carefully loosened the upper zip tie, slid it up and tightened it back down. Again, the plant didn't skip a beat. Frustrating to have such fragile branches, but it is quite resilient when faced with my clumsiness.

I have been traveling a lot and have not really been able to tend to these much. But they're still moving along. This is day 22F. PH got well into the 4's for a bit and the lights were a bit too strong. They seem to be recovering a bit now. Hopefully they'll finish out ok.

Cali Kush looks like she's going to end up with lots of purple bud leaves.
CK 22Fc.jpg

She's stretched a little... finally. Not much, but it's something.
CK 22Fg.jpg

The Ceasefire F2 is still struggling a bit, but improving. Smells nice so far.
22F.jpg

Maddog2020 CBG is looking a little crusty, small, and weedy.
MD 22Fb.jpg

Sour Tangie CBG #3 got hit the worst with the tip burn, but seems to be pretty resilient.
ST3 22Fb.jpg

That's about it. I'm going to back off the feed and the lights. I'd rather let them yellow a bit than burn.

I do love how low-maintenance the Cali Kush has been. Slowest plant I've ever grown, but it hasn't skipped a beat otherwise.

That sounds awesome, I only had a few seeds any so maybe i’ll reach out. Im 90% certain it will be my next grow.

btw someone did a write up on kwazulu and they took some nice pics of a purple pheno.

What I got from world seed as Kwazulu is anything but compact

I got two outside in the home stretch one is really stretchy ,frosty as can be ,and flopping all over. The other stands all on it own not as frosty and has a indica like structure.i got a few cutting of the frosty one vegging .I will post a few pictures as soon as the monsoon-like rain left over from Ian are over

Id love to see em, but yeah, i’m convinced WOS is using an inhouse indica on their pure sativas, I did however find the effects I was looking for in the kwazulu, cant smoke that before bed

Just got back from another extended bit of travel and I'm just happy they're still alive. My departure was really hectic and I didn't have enough time to get them situated. I've been gone for almost the entire past 6 weeks, save for a couple days. After the last post I reduced the EC but it looks like I went too far. It's funny seeing the different plant responses, and it makes me thankful that the Cali Kush is nearly idiot proof.

So here we are at the end of week 5 and I am sure the yield will be nothing, but I have a decent perspective on these plants now.
