Quick update on the plant which had problems while I was away.
After transplanting into soil with more drainage and giving her a solid watering she's sprung back to life and the leaf curl is slowly recovering.
Tiny bit of tip burn and I've attached a photo of the most wrinkled fan leaf.

I've manicured the bud from the last round after a week of cure. Smell and taste have certainly returned quickly!

Popped some more beans, gifted by a few friends. They broke soil yesterday and 10/10 are reaching for the lights.

Leaf droop still hasn't gone away completely on the lady back in veg, she's filled out well under 18/6 and certainly looks happier. I think I may have had a phosphorus deficiency or lockout as Mr. Sparkle suggested, my PH kept climbing until a decent flush. She's going to stay in veg for another 6+ weeks so plenty of time to monitor the issue, and plenty of backup to start over with if necessary!

Quick update. I have passed the remaining NL plants off to a friend to strip for clones and make some room in my cab.

Of the 10 seedlings I started off, I decided to keep 8 and have transplanted them into larger containers about a week ago.

5 of these are haze crosses and 3 are skunk crosses from a friend locally, he has been growing these strains for more than 15 years and I'm a big fan of the end product.

I'm running them under 96w of temporary CFL's in the top half of the cab while they're still small. I have a pair of 50w halogen GU10 bulbs next to the intake acting as a heater while the CMH bulbs are switched off.

For flower I've settled on 150w of CMH and 2x18.5w LED in the top half of the cab, 2x70w CMH and 2x24w CFL in the bottom half of the cab.

Medium is still 50/50 soil/perlite, nutes (when I need them) will be half strength 10-3-7 organic in veg and canna flores in flower as I feel it is a more complete nutrient than the organic I was using.

Going to veg for about 4-5 weeks and make some nice little bushes under CFL, then switch on the CMH's to 12/12 with 4 plants in each half of the cab and hope that half of them are female.

Looking good in there! I love the Bio Canna line. Their Bio Boost is fantastic, yet pricey.

Thanks man, they've taken off overnight so I might start nutes sooner than expected.
The 50/50 perlite/soil mix really doesn't hold water for long in these small pots, watered 36 hours ago and they're already reaching out for more.

Attached a photo of my little halogen 'heater', switched out one of the 50w halogens for an old inefficient 5w LED which puts out loads of heat.. wish I had another one.

Hope you get some more time to work on your cab soon dude, I'm excited about it!

I'm still getting upwards leaf curl on some fan leaves, so far I've ruled out heat stress, PH lockout, magnesium deficiency, nitrogen toxicity, overwatering, underwatering and low humidity.

I've moved the curling plants to the bottom half of the cab and given them their first water in a couple of days.
There's less airflow in the bottom cab so I'm hoping this will rule out windburn, any other suggestions?

Awesome I've been hanging out for some completed build pics!

The leaf curl hasn't spread or got any worse in the last few days, new growth doesn't seem to have slowed down either. One thing I hadn't considered was mites, I've had a look under 100x and can't find any grazers.

I might spray a little neem and give it a heat wave if I see any hints of insects, for now I'm just going to keep waiting and watching.

There's been some progression of leaf curl on the plants I moved to the bottom half of the cab, none occurring on any of the plants I've left in the top.

The plants with leaf curl have started to look a little chlorotic compared to the others, they've had very little nitrogen as I've been trying to rule out magnesium lockout.

They've just had a light neem and a feed of half strength nutes, I'm currently giving everything in the cab a wipe down with some peroxide and an antifungal/antibacterial disinfectant too.

Mr. Sparkle

looks like there moving along though, you caught it early or its currently very minor, whatever you changed seems to be working.

It just sorta looks to me like a couple compounding issues were present but nothing major, looked like maybe a tad warm from being in the top, coupled with a tiny bit of overwatering, which caused the leafs to curl up to try and get rid of the excess water, then the slight crinkle would be because somethings getting locked out not completely but just a little bit, which could happen if overwatering slightly and the ph is slightly out.

The neem and wipe down was probably not needed but hey Your attacking everything possible, if i was something else "probably not"

Dolimite lime is the answer to the ph if you don't really want to mess with it all the time, or notice its fluctuating quite abit, at 1-2tbsp a gallon of whatever your mix, it usually causes pretty stable ph levels that you don't have to look at, if you don't want too.

But other than that looks healthy and they are moving along, keep it up, when are you thinking of moving to the trays ?

I think you might be right with a cycle of over and underwatering, I've kept a close eye on the environmental conditions and PH this time round but the perlite heavy mix is hard to judge moisture by weight or feel. Maybe a probe is worth buying for peace of mind.

I'm currently undecided on when I'll transplant to trays due to a dilemma. I have room to run 4 plants in trays and currently have 8 plants of unknown sex (hoping for 4 females). Root growth slows pretty quickly after flip which sort of makes transplanting to a container that large pointless in 12/12.

I figure my options are;
- Flip soon, transplant into trays as soon as they show sex and hope it's worthwhile.
- Transplant 2 plants to a tray, let veg for another couple of weeks and then flip.. remove males once they show and hope the leftover root systems don't cause problems.
- Transplant into larger pots until these plants show preflowers (probably at least 3-4 weeks away) and then transplant the females into trays.
- Rig up a little 12/12 cab to sex these plants by clone

M

Mr. Sparkle

i'd wing it with option 2, unless your looking for max yield it will allow the roots to get a good purchase in the trays, and by the time your about to flip, you might have preflowers, and when you pluck the males which you shouldn't run into any troubles, you just train the surrounding plants to fill the space left behind, or could go super safe with option 3 but your waiting a bit and will be the same time as having a small 12/12 setup for some clones.

I say wing it, but that's just me.

I think I'm going to transplant tonight into individual containers of about 2 litres, veg for one more week and then flip. I've got a couple of feminized seeds I want to run next so kind of want to get these over and done with.

Colour is starting to come back a little after some nutrients, the upstairs plants are already bone dry so have had a mist of distilled water this afternoon, most of them are becoming rootbound so it's definitely transplant time.

While these are in flower I'll get my little veg cab running again to start these seeds in, I have some feminized nirvana NL and delicious seeds cheese candy staring at me from amongst my bagseed collection. My new 70w CMH bulb arrived today, hopefully my 150 will be here soon so I can have everything set up for 12/12 next Saturday.

I'm growing the Delicious [Cheese] Candy now in my filing cabinet. The breeder dropped the cheese part of the name. It's a great plant for a SOG. :yummy:

Looking good!

Can't wait for the watts to come in im really interested to see how these lights work and those are some nice looking plants, pretty branchy already for not being topped and being young :)

dont those bottles fall over all the time?

or arnt you as careless as i am? :(

I haven't knocked any over this round, but I used to start my outdoor plants in them and kicked a few then haha. I've just transplanted into some flat bottom containers for flower before things get too top heavy.
I was a little worried about using clear containers, but it didn't seem to slow things down at all or kill off roots.

Normally I would have topped and trained by now, but the structure on the plants I've left upstairs came out perfect just by keeping them close to the bulbs.

Will be interesting to see how they stretch, hoping for about a double in size which will fill the cab nicely.

New containers.

I'm going to save the large tray idea for either feminized seeds or clones so I can make the most of the amount of soil. I may try running a single large plant in each half of the cab next, think Blynx scrog cab x2.

I have an abundance of these 2L containers, they actually hold about 2.5L of soil. I've punched 9 holes in the bottom of each and filled with a 30/70 mix of perlite/soil.

Currently have them sitting on some pots to add about 8" of height, this brings them to around 18" from the CMH bulb and 14" from the LED. Should be able to comfortably accommodate 20" of stretch or roughly 2.5x the current plant height.
