Trump thread part 2 (Or anything else we want to talk about that's ridiculous in politics today)

I bet the democrats would be tempted to just let Trump destroy what's left of the republican party.
no. our democracy depends on having at least two functional competing parties. there are no circumstances in which a single party is good for a nation. the Chump "wing" is not as large as he, or many of us, think it is. he may get their nomination simply because of the large number of aspirants to his "throne" though. he has zero chance of being elected again in my honest opinion. unless prisons hold elections for some odd reason...

Certainly.

I recall John Kerry conceding the election to W and then saying that we needed to be more unified as a country.

I was a cook then, and, upon hearing that speech, proceeded to grab the bottle of sherry and walked into the freezer and drank and cried and considered our nation lost.

We need more than two parties and the ones that are already here are vested against losing votes.

But we can not be more confused with focus. The fact that the people yell civil war before they utter revolution is proof enough.

Vaccines and lies about elections being more important than the very society we live in being torn apart by ourselves is proof enough.

If more people have more faith in the Constitution then they will be the vanguard towards the true potential of our nation.

Let's see what it takes to get a half dozen parties.

Civil war?

Revolution....?

We don't have to be violent....

I think.

It's kinda tough to call that looking at our history.

cheap fuck...

In a development that should surprise exactly no one, it turns out that former President Donald Trump reportedly ditched a restaurant full of his supporters without paying after promising he’d get “food for everyone!” Shortly after his Miami arraignment on Tuesday afternoon, a pitstop was made at a Little Havana eatery called Versailles Café. Patrons there cheered him on, prayed for him, and sang him “Happy Birthday” (a day early, but who’s counting?). But an unnamed source with knowledge of the situation told the Miami New Times on Thursday that Trump had lingered for about 10 minutes—not nearly enough time for anyone to order anything before he finished shaking hands and whisked himself out of the joint. The New York Times reported on Tuesday that the former president didn’t dine at Versailles, preferring to have some McDonald’s on a private plane back to New Jersey.

Republicans are once again showing that the cruelty is the point.

i don't think they are intentionally cruel; but that is the inevitable end result when your only concern is lowering your own taxes...if they (or their friends) didn't have to pay for it, they'd be okay with it, if not trying to get in line for free food themselves. got a church/food bank nearby that hands out frozen chicken weekly regardless of your circumstances. it would piss you off to see some of the cars that pull in...

delusional don at it again

Former President Donald Trump descended upon Truth Social on Thursday evening to largely reiterate his talking points from his Tuesday night speech in New Jersey—but did note that he still expects, at some point, to be given back everything federal authorities seized in their raid on Mar-a-Lago. In a typical all-caps screed, Trump reasoned that it should be clear to all how he had been “totally exonerated” of the 37 federal charges related to his mishandling of classified materials at the Florida estate. Rattling off his laundry list of enemies—“corrupt Joe Biden, the DOJ, deranged Jack Smith, and their radical left, Marxist thugs”—he asked when they planned “to drop all charges against me, apologize, and return everything that was illegally taken (Fourth Amendment) from my home? This was nothing other than election interference!!!”

He's going to be screaming "Election Interference!!" from inside his cell.

He keeps this crap up and somebody may decide he's a danger to the country and ban him from social media and give him a pretty ankle bracelet to wear. Take away his passports. Ground his plane. Remand him to custody. You know, do all the things that would prevent him from actually running his campaign.

i said that months ago. now, i'd be okay if he flew the coop & went to live with Un or Putin. the North Korean people would probably butcher and eat his fat ass if he went outside. in Russia, he'd probably fall down a flight or three of steps, or stumble and go out of a window, lol. gotta be scary to see reality setting in...

From all the reporting I've heard there is nothing on the law books that prevents him from being President just because he is locked up. We even almost had precedent for it once back in the 1920's with Eugene V. Debs and again in 1992 with Lyndon LaRouche both of which ran for President from behind bars. Fortunately neither of them were elected so we never had to deal with how a convict would serve as President. I agree with you that we do need more then one party but I doubt the prospect of it not being good for the country would necessarily stop the democrats from seeing if it were possible. There are more then just the two parties though and so it would never truely happen one of the other parties would take the place of the republican party or the few sane establishment Republicans would reform a new version of the Republican party that would be more like what most of us remember the old Republican party being. You're correct though that the Chump wing isn't nearly as big as many seem to think it is and with spokes people like MTG and Boebert routinuely embarrassing themselves and the party it's getting smaller all the time.

Speaking of Reality, I say we should be considering how the Trump administration handled the case of Reality Winner, a former intelligence contractor who served more than four years in prison for leaking a classified report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. She had just one count of mishandling a classified document and her reason for doing what she did was to get information out to the American people that she felt was being kept hidden from them. She served almost 5 years and is still restricted to her home state of Texas until her probation ends in 2024.

One side has reasonable, nuanced ideas and goals they want to achieve. The other side wants to rule and don't care how they do it as long as they are the ones in power. If you can't tell the difference between the 2, I can't help you.
I can't tell the difference between the two. I don't divide humanity into the good and the bad 'side'. I don't do this because it leads to feeling superior to another 'side'. You can substitute 'side' for 'race', 'religion', 'social caste', etc... and perhaps you can start to see where I am coming from. Or you can smugly sit there and feel superior to your fellow man, but that doesn't sound very reasonable to me.

A country with greatness would be a country with the best educated people who went to the best school system in the world. The country would have the best infrastructure in the world with modern, up to date medical, education, highway, rail, and air systems. The peoples tax money would pay for all of this including new, well equipped hospitals.

This was the way it was in the US in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. When we put a man on the moon we wowed the rest of the world. That all ended when Regan (Ronald Rayguns) stopped taxing the rich who were paying up to 70% on massive incomes. Republicans gerrymandered voting districts to give their voters more effective power to assist the few in controlling the many. The rich acquired an increasingly bigger piece of the pie. Publicly funded hospitals were sold to private companies. Decent companies who offered penchants stopped. Public schools that were once the best went to shit because the rich sent their kids to private schools. Medical care that used to be affordable in taxpayer funded hospitals is now unaffordable and the once great infrastructure crumbled. Under republican manipulation the rich were able to donate more money to politicians than the masses and they continued reap more benefits.

So, it's not that all politicians are bad and they are all screwing us out of our utopia. It's more like one party is fighting to win back pieces of what we once had while the the other is manipulating the "have nots" to grab every last bit and escort us into a total authoritarian regime where the government forces the little people to submit and allow the rich and the government to take everything. This. is the way it is in Russia and North Korea. Regarding the "have nots", these are people who were once educated and capable of critical thinking and contributing to society, but succumbed to repetitive propaganda with hopes and aspirations of being included and receiving a few crumbs that fall off the big table.

If it's any consolation, the end game of the scenario above is that the rich go dog eat dog consuming each other and it ends up with a hand full of oligarchs kissing the ass of their dictator and occasionally he decides to relieve one of them from all their billions. Then he either kills them or puts them in prison.
