He did win the electoral college by a wide margin. Vote totals don't matter in our POTUS elections. They must win specific states that have a huge impact on the electoral college. We don't elect POTUS who has the most votes.

Exactly. And when you look at those 4 states that got Biden to 306, 40,000 votes between those 4 states separated Joe Biden from Donald Trump - 20,000 votes more and WI goes to Trump. 12,000 more, Georgia goes to Trump. Remember the "most perfect phone call" to Brad Raffenspurger? Remember the Fake Electors scheme? They only needed the 4 states to pull that bullshit off and get Trump to 270.

Biden didn't win the electoral college "resoundingly".

If you look at the vote totals for each state, Biden won by a mere 40,000 votes across Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Arizona. It was a squeeker. Full stop.

But in 2022, the youth vote turned out and HOLY SHIT. Same thing is going to happen in 2024 and beyond. The youth of this country are far more civically engaged than the previous generations, including my own. And I'm am extremely grateful and proud of them.

And THANK FSM that they're not afraid of the word "socialism".
That's not what I'm talking about, when you talk about winning the Electoral votes all that matters is the number of electors you win for each state whether you won the popular vote in that state by 1, by 40,000 or by 400,000. Traditionally in the past, the person who wins the Electoral College vote only wins by a handful of votes, Biden won by 74 which is a resounding electoral victory. Just so we're clear though, I'd much rather see the Electoral College done away with. It was created for an older time when the dynamics in the country were very different. Things have changed now. The Electoral College is obsolete.

I agree whole heartedly about the youth vote and am so glad they didn't end up as apathetic as previous generations of the youth vote. I can't say that I blame them either, I mean they've sat next to their friends in school and seen them slaughtered by crazed gunmen and then watched as politicians did nothing and got away with it by saying nothing they can do would matter. That's BS and the young people know it. Sure there's nothing that can be done that will guarentee no mass murderers in school ever again. Unless of course you take everyone's guns but the youth are smart enough to know that's not going to happen either but they're not going to sit quietly by while absolutely nothing gets done because the gun lobby lines the pockets of politicians. They're going to do what needs to be done which is to demand change and then hold their representatives accountable at the ballot box when they don't listen.

Nah we were just looking at the same thing two different ways and I restated my view in more detail. You weren't wrong on your point though as far as votes from voters it was close. The only thing I would add is that in the case of Wisconsin, the GOP has been getting away with murder there (figuratively, not literally) which if the reporting I've heard is correct, has given Wisconsin the dubious distinction of being the most heavily gerrymandered state in the country which has helped the GOP in elections. That's about to change though now that their Sumpreme court just reverted to a democratic majority. Hopefully they'll be able to put the districts back in to a more resonable, accurate configuration?

I think they're getting lawsuits filed in short order to get rid of these maps. They should be in a much better state come 2024, and the Dems may finally retake the state. Much to the dismay of the Koch Brothers, the Uline Family, Ron Johnson and Ole Googly Eyed Scott Walker

40% of the population controls 75% of the legislature.

Unbelievable. Decade after decade we spend a major chunk of our national budget on military to deal with Russia, and then one sleazy con man manipulates millions of gullibles to cover his debt to Putin and we're on the verge of civil war.

Are we really though? I mean I know that's what you hear when the media covers Trump supporters but the reality is that while very vocal those supporters only represent a fraction of the republican party. Even if the Republican party all supported Trump, which they don't, they only represent a minority of the electorate. Added to that when Trump supporters understand clearly that Trump is calling for violence, instead of turning out in droves, they stay away in droves. The most active participants in the violence on the 6th were those Militia groups that while claiming to support Trump, were really there pushing their own agenda and using other Trump Supporters as cannon fodder.

If it ever actually came to civil war most of Trump's supporters would cut and run once they realize that they were all wrong in thinking most Dems don't have guns, but that they aren't afraid to use them, they would mostly fold and go home. The few crazies left would be easy target practice.

Trump promised death and destruction if he got arrested, that there would be carnage like the country has never scene. Yet when it happened only a couple hundred turned out and they remained peaceful.

When we see politicians labeling judges as renegade and passing legislation that would enable them to eject judges then the basis of the constitution having three separate branches of government is broken. The judicial system proved this concept worked as Chump attempted to corrupt our election system and courts one after another, shot him down. States banning abortion and threatening their citizens as well as neighboring states for cooperating is one more front where the constitution is threatened.

It seems just a matter of time before the republican party shreds the constitution creating the split that becomes civil war. It may not be violent, but it is well under way.

From what I saw, there were more people supporting his arrest and reporters than there were his supporters.

I think there are several "Civil" wars right now. One is between the Left and the Right due to the ones at the Top pitting those underneath them against each other with culture war nonsense while they run away literally with the Banks.

The other one, and far more entertaining, is the Right vs. The Extreme Right. And how they are fellating and debasing each other in order to win support amongst an ever decreasing but extremely vocal populace. This latest row between MTG and Laura Loomer is rather funny.
