Trump thread part 2 (Or anything else we want to talk about that's ridiculous in politics today)

Being from the US and seeing it from an outside perspective is still disheartening though, I'm definitely not cheering it on, but the America I grew up in doesn't seem to exist any more and I'm only in my late 30's.

I do think it's just part of history, every great civilization ends up crumbling under it's own hubris, we've just never had world ending weapons to go along with that, which is pretty scary really.

I think the facts and players/personalities we're witnessing now were here back 30, 40, 50, and even 60 years ago.

I believe they invested more effort back then to making it appear to be more of a Ward Cleaver movie, but the dirty was still going on behind the scenes.

Now they simply don't put the same energy into masking their twistedness, as they know that the People lack the self-discipline and cohesion it would require to rein it in.

And the weapons have become more serious as time has passed.

The spiritual development and wisdom of a newborn, and the weapons of advanced space aliens. What could go wrong?

Yeah. This Fourth Turning is pretty wild, ain't it?:whee:

While it may look bad now, I guarantee you on the other side America will be better and stronger than it was. It's just going to take another 20-30 years.

I do hope your right. I mean there was a lot more awareness about certain negative aspects of the US government after the Bush/Cheney administration and we got Obama after that, whatever people think of his presidency, it was pretty progressive of the US to vote in a younger black man, especially considering how racist the country has proven itself to be in the last couple years.

I tend to sit more on the cynical side, but then it is a nicer feeling to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed. I have been pretty disappointed with how those opposing Trump keep making the same dumb mistakes over and over though, there were so many better options than Biden or even Hillary at that, but they stuck with establishment over real progress. It's not looking great for 2024, but again, I hope I'm wrong.

Obama entered under the peace banner while expanding GW's wars from 3 or 4 to 7. In the end I viewed it as more Beltway and partisan sleight of hand. And clearly being another who was largely owned by Wall St.

I never did figure out what his 'amazing achievements' were that would warrant a Nobel Peace prize shortly after entering the Oval Office.

Yes, it was a statement to racists, but it also riled them sufficiently that it became a peripheral rallying cry for many Trumpers.

His big achievements were bailing out Wall Street and Obamacare.
The bailing out of Wall St involved both GW's and Obama's administrations, neither one of which pursued what should've been prosecutions for fraud, and Obama made damned sure they'd get minimal resistance from the insurance lobby by giving then a plan that would make them big money, avoiding single-payer or properly socialized healthcare like it was a sexually transmitted disease... implementing, ultimately, a plan very much like the one Mitt Romney had implemented.

Pretending to be our friend when maybe that wasn't always the case.

He also permitted the CIA's murderous drone missile program in Pakistan.

And yet he's got GDP higher then Trump ever got it, unemployment lower then Trump ever got it, has the country with the lowest inflation rate anywhere in the world, is bring billions of dollars in infrastructure projects to states that badly need it, did more for improving the scheduling of cannabis then any President before him (although still far short of what should have been done).
all true....
Managed to visit two active warfronts in the same year (which is two more then Commander Bone Spurs ever did). All of which is pretty good for someone you claim can barely walk or talk.
yep 2 warzones visited.. trump didn't visit any cause... THERE WERE NONE... how did sleepy do getting us out of affie... ask the '13' families who lost love-ones, how much equipment was left behind... north korea was not lobbing missiles over the sea of japan, iran didn't lob shit 49 times into our bases... ohhh they did lob some, n we shoved a missile up the generals ass.... putin didn't invade ukraine... but he did invade Crimea... ohhh wait that was under the other scumbag obama...

wow... there is an awful lot of people coming over the border to an empire that is no-more...
Leaving one banana republic for a better one hardly makes the better one Nirvana. Not by a long shot, especially considering the nationalism and racism they are apt to face here.

Not to mention that in re. to places like Guatemala, US policies and playing of favorites in those locations contributed directly to the later exodus.

No, really.

Your logic, zach, has sometimes been referred to as 'negative relativism', and it's a losing path toward anything related to improvement of the status quo.

I have to say Obamacare wasn't all bad. It definitely wasn’t good, but not pure horseshit.

Due to the preventative care coverage, my insurance paid for 25 chiropractic/therapeutic massage a year with zero copay.

You may say “big deal”. But for someone like me, a non opiate user who worked some of the most demanding and dangerous jobs, collecting some nice injuries along the way. I needed a way to treat pain without opiates regularly:

That shit is the devil.

I did not leave anything out. Everything you wrote after your first sentence is noise in your head.
Well you left the first sentence out so there is that. Everything else I wrote granted it was just my opinion but I think a fairly fair one directed at anyone who thinks it's okay to force a 10 year old to go full term for any reason but most especially for a pregnancy resultinging from rape.

Before Obamacare my insurance had a $500 max out of pocket per year. Now my employer is lucky to find us a plan we can afford with an $11,000 per year copay. And I work for a Fortune 500 company!

Healthcare in this country costs far more than it needs to. And Obamacare made it far worse much faster.
