I really just can't believe this thread anymore :biglaugh:

Didn't anyone see the video he gave to Kim Jong Un?? It's ridiculous...

It really does look like a trailer from the start of Tropic Thunder. :yoinks:

sure i saw it and i was hard pressed not to lose my jaw on the floor at the thought that this was supposedly a tool of diplomacy. it's either very clever or really laughable, really depends how the north Koreans see it, maybe they did see something to aim for in that video, or maybe they though what a fucking stupid foreign devil, who knows, but the thing is, what are the other options then negotiating? easy to criticize, but what is your solution? and why would the North Koreans listen to your solution? maybe Trumps sheer un predictability was part of even making talks possible?

Yeah, it was kind of stupid, but did make some valid points. They could work with us and achieve greatness like South Korea or stick with China and remain broke or try to fight us and become extinct.

Clearly Kim made the smart decision. I would also imagine the video wasn't the only thing that went down. Definitely seemed like a commercial though. Lol

But was it really that bad?? Kim has agreed to denuclearization, that was pretty much my only concern.

The groups you talk about are an insignificant percentage of the voting public. In November just remember post #915.

That's what y'all said before Trump won the presidency, that the Trump supporters were insignificant.....

Just remember this post in November.

And yes I have seen Idiocracy, reminds me of the people who believed Hillary Clinton would win because well, she was ahead in the polls.

Well Captain, We'll see in November.

I don't agree with you, but you definitely made me laugh.

Sounds like one side of this divide thinks that's everything is all good now. Finalized. Must be the case. Award the Nobel peace prize and all. I mean, who wouldn't believe Kim after one half hour meeting?

not sure why you'd say that when Trump himself said, who knows what will happen and he might be here in 6 months saying it's all failed, so really no one thinks its all done and dusted, but i continue to think talking is better then conflict.

I imagine, since trump is so good at making these deals, the nuclear drawdown is going to begin by next week or so? And Kim is, I'm sure, happy to get rid of his entire nuclear arsenal and capability, and allow us to inspect whenever wherever we want. These are, after all, the terms he announced he would accept no less than. And I'm sure he will keep his word. So, obviously, this will be "much better" than the Iran deal. Can't wait.

I doubt anyone here thinks this is a done deal and N. Korea is no longer a threat. Just like Iran.

lets be honest, neither NK or Iran is a threat to the US, not really. neither country has ever invaded any neighbors or attacked any other nations. you don't like them, but they don't pose a threat and Iran doesn't even have nukes, while NK would only use them if attacked.

despite that, talk is better then saber rattling. maybe it won't work out, but i see no other choice then to at least try negotiations. but for sure nothing is settled, things could all blow up again worse then before, only time will tell.

Is it really giving something away if you don't really want it anymore? It is time for SK to row its' own military boat. We don't need to have all the military bases and personnel over there. SK is much more advanced than NK this time around. They can protect themselves. The USA can save the money from all that and bring people home.

This gives us the perfect time to exit. The USA protected you. Now you are all grown up and can do it yourself. NK and SK can now make friends with each other.

So basically Trump gave them nothing but it looks like a huge sacrifice on the USA's part.

Art of the deal baby. Art of the deal! Got something for nothing. In fact we will be saving billions of dollars. Saving billions of dollars is the same as being paid billions of dollars. Trump gets a denuclearization deal done with NK and the USA gets paid billions. Obama gets a deal done with Iran but it costs the USA 3/4 of a billion dollars.

personally, I think I like the Iranian people. Only met Iranian Americans but what little I know of the culture, aside from their govt, seems pretty fukn ok to me. And I'm 100% in favor of talks with NK...I just think trump telling us to sleep better cuz it's a done deal is funny. I also don't believe the USA is the only country that should be, or is, worried about a fukn crazy pos like Kim having nukes. No, I don't believe USA should be the world's police force, but if a nation has the power to stop a madman from unleashing nukes, should they? Whole nuther convo. Not to mention, long as we have 'papers' w S Korea, they are our allies and we are beholden to fulfill our part of the bargain. Til the obligation ends. And assuming Kim won't use nukes unless attacked is a pretty dangerous assumption I think

Valid points. Maybe it is time to cut the cord. What else are we giving up, strategically, if we do? I don't know. Pretty good spot to have some presence, providing the whole world doesn't decideit's time for peace.

I believe it was 150 billion. I wonder how Japan feels about a potential exit of American troops. NK has harassed Japan quite a bit over the years. With Japan not having a military leaves us little choice but to maintain their security.

There it is! First point I have seen from you that I agree with! Maybe I am mellowing with age? I don't know what the 150 billion is, but the Japan point is a very good one.

I understand Trump is trying to take a different angle.... which is fair enough, i just can't help thinking Kim would see it laughable and condescending.

The approach, i can understand..... the execution.... omg :yoinks:
