So...in the states it's pretty obvious that the climate is not a scientific debate but a political one(I'm aware there are exceptions)
I am curious how the debate is framed in other countries? Is it strictly partisan? Maybe someone on here can give me a glimpse of how it is interpreted in other countries?

In Australia it's pretty much a political debate 2, at least at a federal level. A couple of states, South Australia the most obvious, seem to be going it alone and setting up there own sustainable energy sources, and the advent of renewable storage batteries like Tesla has certainly thrown a cat among the pigeons. It's becoming increasingly hard for the conservatives to push the “coal is good” mantra, but they're doing their best, like trying to start up Adani, potentially the biggest coal mine in Australia, but now it seems some of the banks are going green and won't finance it. The whole deal is really suss. Interesting times. Beyond the practical considerations of what it all means on a global environmental scale, the question I find the most interesting is why anyone would want to live in a dirty polluted world, but it seems many do.

the scientific debate is essentially over and it has been established that humans activities are contributing to the rate of climate change we are seeing.

Even the Chinese government has acknowledged this fact.

The only people who deny it are people who will financially benefit from reduced government regulations on polluting businesses and those who have been manipulated by said people.

and there is no Navy base in Nebraska!

There will always be nice places to live, if you're rich enough to buy your way in... If you're diversified world wide like Trump, you already have.

I'm always astounded that people can't pick up on the insincerity of Trump & Repub politicians in general. Trump the supposed populist has chosen the wealthiest cabinet in History, including Jeff Sessions, an old fashioned southern ball breaking authoritarian raised on the rhetoric of segregation, a form of soft fascism. He knows all about keeping down the coloreds & the hippy scum, bet on that. And he's reaching out to like-minded cop shops-

Not to mention that they're all hot to trot to bust illegals' balls- you know, like 10% of greater LA, cuz it's supposed to bring jobs back to the Rust Belt, or something.

Meanwhile, they're angling to put the bone to millions of Americans who depend on the ACA & other social programs so that they can cut billionaire taxes...

It's bizarre. So like 3-4 weeks ago the Canadian primeminister and mexicos president shook hands! A deal was made! GOTTA LOVE CANADA! Mexico does! By the next weekend a few outlet were running a story about how Canadians are gonna be vacationing in Mexico even more than did already and how Mexicos well to do would be vacationing in Canada instead of Texas. The interviewed a Texas resort owner and he was upset. Saying that he could always count on their patronage but didn't know how ends were gonna meet this year..

A week later Trump hits Canada with a terrif out of the blue! Everyone was scratching thier head? Why would he...?

Cut to Trump the other day. he announces that Canada called him and so did Mexico, "I have a great relationship with Canada and a great relationship with Mexico so they ask "president Trump, can we please renagptiate NAFTA? I said ok but if I don't get a good deal for us I'll pull out. They were greatful."

Guess who knew he was gonna do exactly that... haha guess how they were gonna prove it! By just sitting by the phone and waiting while a news crew was filming!haha

Mexico ran it. Ur Canada was scared and chose to save that for a rainy day. Mexico agreed and stopped running it by the morn. I read a lot of papers. Mexico shows everything. Dead bodies, weather ladies tits! They don't care about offending thier population. Probably. Ecause they cant.

But trump don't care. He said it during his campaign. Right in the mike to the people who gave him the go ahead!!i" I can shoot somebody on 4th ave and you'd still vote for me".

Guess what the crowd said?

Seems that over the last 15 years or so the public opinion and media pressure (probably the driver) has gone through several cycles where most folk came around and accepted the likelihood of human caused climate change, and then there was a big push back and the deniers gained the upper hand, then back favoring the climate change view. And now we've had a really big push back and the deniers are back in force. No I don't have links, LOL. It's just an impression I've gotten.

I think for many it's a really difficult notion to accept because of the cognitive dissonance that would result. Once you conclude that it's a real thing, then you're left facing the fact that the people you've been getting your news from have been lying to you all these years.

I went through a similar soul searching four years ago after spending many months reading about the JFK assassination. The hit was the easy part. The cover up has been going on now for over fifty years, and our press have been intimately complicit in the effort. But the lead up to the second Iraq war helped prepare me for this understanding.

Humans are contributing to the plastic waste in the oceans, that's a fact.Other planets in our solar system having the same problem with their climate and we don't live over there.Since the sunspot activity decreased the magnetic shield of the earth has become weaker, so far more influence from space weather like gamma radiation which has an affect on our planet's weather.Other fact is that our solar system is traveling through space, so other parts of the galaxy like gas clouds can have an affect on our solar system and the weather.

I've read that the FBI has had a multiyear investigation underway examining Russian and East European organized crime. After six bankruptcies, American banks wouldn't loan Donald Trump so much as a nickel, so he was forced to seek money in Eastern Europe and Russia. So the FBI would have been looking at Trump as part of the aforementioned investigation. Any involvement of Trump's people with Russian campaign financing would've been stepping under the lens of a microscope that was already in place.

Trump's mob ties are common knowledge in New York. Mob involvement was just a fact of life for anyone dealing in real estate there in the 70's and 80's. Trump Tower is an unconventional design where instead of the usual steel structure for high-rises, the building was constructed using massive amounts of concrete... Concrete purchased from a mob owned construction firm. It's amazing that somebody with such a past would willingly put himself under the microscope by running for president.

Now Bill Palmer is reporting that New York State is preparing a racketeering case against the Trump family. This is especially important because a presidential pardon can only apply to federal charges.

New York Attorney General’s RICO case will aim to “impoverish” Donald Trump and his family
By Bill Palmer
Updated: 1:05 am EDT Mon May 1, 2017

Over the weekend multiple sources on opposite sides of the political aisle confirmed that the FBI’s federal investigation into Donald Trump and Russia has led to two grand juries currently underway. Now one of those sources is also expounding on separate state-level legal action being carried out by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman against Donald Trump.

The news of the federal grand juries came separately from Democratic insider Claude Taylor an Republican insider Rick Wilson (link). One of those federal grand juries involves RICO racketeering charges (link), while the other focuses on the Foreign Agent Registration Act. But today Taylor has clarified that this is separate from the state-level RICO charges being pursued against Trump. And the state case is expected to be a doozy.

“My information is that while all this is Federal, AG Schneiderman is going to be presenting a devastating State RICO case that will among other things literally impoverish Trump, Don jr, Eric, Ivanka and Jared” (link), Taylor has revealed. RICO refers to the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, and is most commonly used to take down the highest ranking members of organized crime rings. RICO allows for fines up to “twice the proceeds of the offense,” meaning that if the State can prove its case, it can seize every dollar Trump has ever illegally obtained and beyond. If his fortune is as dependent on illegal gains as is widely suspected, such fines would indeed serve to wipe out Trump and his family financially.

As Palmer Report has previously reported (link), authorities recently arrested ten alleged mafia henchmen in New York whose crime family has ties to convicted Russian mafia figure Felix Sater, who in turn has financial ties to Donald Trump. This was ostensibly with the intention of motivating them to flip on Trump.

Damn, I didn't know we had weather stations all through the solar system. I'm always the last to know. Just joking, but you're skating on really thin ice presenting supposition as fact. Check the link by Skeptical Science-Getting skeptical about global warming skepticism.

Ha! Not quite THAT removed from the conversation...but sometimes it's better to listen and ask questions than make statements no?

Yes Sir ! And I will say that I fall into the "I just don't know" category. But it amazes me that just about every prediction from Al and company have fallen flat over the years...but some how they all got rich? But then others remind me that 'Big Oil" is Devil....great debate for sure :)

I forgot to mention that Australia has had an excellent uptake of rooftop solar and now with the coming of storage batteries like the Tesla, it's become possible to go off grid altogether, or at least cut back big time on electricity from that grid. The future is looking grim for the coal fired power stations as more people move off grid or cut back their use, the people left on will have to contend with more rising electricity costs, as someone has to pay for the upkeep of all this infrastructure. So more people will move to solar and eventually we'll have some sort of tipping point and coal will be finished. Solar power is now cheaper in Australia than fossil fuels.

My knowledge of space is very limited but what I know is solid for a basic foundation I think? I'm self taught so knowing we're to begin was tough. I also wanted to maintain as high a standard. Information needed to be verified and validated by a mother fkn WIZARD!

So that why my knowledge of space is as limited as it is! I just cared to much!!

So it's not much ... but it's been enough to get people who know NOTHING believe I know EVERYTHING!

And thats all I need!!!

Plus its been double checked by someone who can kill a wizard with MIND BILLETS!!!

Everything I know so far!

I couldn't agree more. How many people in this thread, and nobody could even answer the question of what is the biggest factor in warming........ How can one pretend to know if warming will occur if you don't even know what contributes to it?

I must have missed this question. Anyway, why don't you tell us what the answer is?

OK. Being the most abundant greenhouse gas in the atmosphere doesn't mean that water vapor is the determining factor driving changes in atmospheric heating. Increased CO2 can explain the changes. It's changes we're looking at here. Increases in water vapor require increases in ocean surface evaporation, which requires increases in ocean and/or atmospheric temperatures. It's changes in atmospheric CO2 content which provides the nudge to generate increased water vapor. That big V8 makes a truck go faster but it requires the gentle nudge of someone's foot on the accelerator.

As I already stated yesterday;

Human activity has increased atmospheric CO2 levels, which in turn absorb radiant heat from the earth. And so our atmosphere has warmed, which in turn warms the oceans. This results in increased evaporation from ocean surfaces. Since atmospheric H2O is such a powerful greenhouse gas, this increase in water vapor captures radiant heat from Earth surfaces and heats the earth big league.

It's a positive feedback loop which contributes to runaway heating. Another positive feedback effect is that the melting of ocean surface sea ice allows incoming sunlight to be absorbed by the dark ocean surface instead of being reflected back out to space. This warms the polar ocean waters which then melt more sea ice (and allow more evaporation).

This last year has shown many heat records. The warming of the arctic regions is unprecedented. Satellite imagery shows the lowest extent of sea ice ever recorded in both the Arctic and Antarctic oceans.

OK, you posted while I was working on my post. So are you saying that recent changes in solar intensity are the cause of the observed warming of Earth's oceans and atmosphere?

Yes, I have heard of this Galileo fellow. :)

I am aware of the fact that the sun heats Earth's surface. :)

Your premise requires a recent increase in solar emissions. You have provided no evidence of such.

What a waste of this morning. I'll go do something important now, like taking the dog for a walk. It looks like a beautiful day outside.

Well, you might have to take what I have said into context in order to understand it...........

That fact that you think water only comes from ocean evaporation baffles me........

I am done with babying this along...... but no way shape or form does co2 explain the heating...... Why are the 90 models I posted all incorrect then? Maybe it's because they are not tracking the largest greenhouse gas. Then you ask, how can water develop in the atmosphere other than evaporation? Great question, follow that, and find what actually predicts the models......H20. In time, you guys will learn the truth. Just like Bengazi and everything else you guys deny. Willful ignorace is bliss I guess. Just call me more names so you guys feel better about your selves in the morning. :tiphat:

As for finding solar activity, it would have been easier for you to do a google search than write your response. ALl the info is out there. I showed 90 models backing this up, yet you claim co2 predicts these models better? How, when all 90 were wrong? Where is your proof? You don't have any, nor will you ever. Then you claim I have no proof, even though I posted charts proving these things and cause you are too lame to do a Google search or understand the info I laid out, instead you just say no proof......... Like trying to teach a 3rd grader algebra. Reread my links, find the real info.

its a waste of energy crusader

hazeybulldog is suffering from something callled the Dunning–Kruger effect.

Dunning-Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which low-ability individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly assessing their ability as much higher than it really is. Psychologists David Dunning and Justin Kruger attributed this bias to a metacognitive incapacity, on the part of those with low ability, to recognize their ineptitude and evaluate their competence accurately.

You have to be the biggest douche in the world......... Feel better now for attacking me because of something I believe? I thought that was against the rules you bigot? One thread, you are claiming fairness. This thread, you insult and destroy. That makes you, a contradicting douche bag, that has zero principles. Typical liberal.
