Thanks for the info! I'm planning a small grow this year. Do you see any reason 50 gallon mounds wouldn't work? Im using coots mix for the mounds and my native soil has fairly good drainage.

I like the idea of mounds because of how easy they would be and like you said you can always make them bigger later.

Or do you think smart pots would be better?

It might be hard getting a mound with the proper height/width ratio using only 50 gallons, couldn't hurt trying tho. If you're growing full season you're probably going to want more soil - 100 is exponentially greater than 50 in this case FWIW.
