Tories may revive minimum pot sentences!

read carefully, there are SOME loopholes in there... first time offenders, etc likely have a way out of this 6 month sentence. If they wanna stick me in prison, costing the taxpayers 300,000 a year for my half a dozen plants of personal, well. I guess I deserve it? LOL lookout I'm one bad ass girl~ I find it interesting how putting a woman in prison costs so much more. Why is that?

if it is realy for you only. 1 to 4 plants in mpbs is still tons, eliminate commercial organised growing, grow your own, increase quality, decrease gang wars.

as far as cartels go, some marijuana millionaires in my region started a gang from growing and now are worth over 1 billion as a organised unit. ive heard they drop 1000 kilos of cocaine every month in canada from columbia , money they only could have made growing beasters then exchanging in cali, then meeting a cartel connection thru those connects.
pot makes all organisations ,in bc especially, easy capital to finance much worse criminal activities, i never believed it when i was young, now its for real, d

"Bill C-15 will be re-introduced soon and the process will start from scratch.

The Conservatives have stated their intent to re-introduce this bill in it's original form (i.e. no amendments)
and they plan to introduce it in the Senate first, instead of the House of Commons.
(The bill will still have to pass through both Houses.)"

it still has to go through House. i didnt know they could introduce it into Senate first. i wonder why they are trying that? hopefully house just shoots it down anyways. i have a feeling they will not let it pass. wishful thinking?i dunno

yeah and there are two options, make it more illegal or let people decide what they wanna put in their bodies and we all know what path our politicians are likely to take. those gangs who aspire to have cartel connects are gonna be making a lot more money if c15 passes. anyways its not the substance thats the problem (theres studies that show cocaine has less harmful sides than alcohol or tobacco) its the environment and profit incentive created by laws made to give career-LEOs a steady paycheque

that would be so great here. bill c-15 would be at least tolerable if they legalized 5 plants totally ,no fine no jail no police intrusion.
i would still be opposed to it but feel better knowing theres a way for everyone to grow

i read about the netherlands and apparently they will still take ur plants if they find em

Latest update from Whyprohibition... not good news unfortunately but expected:

Bill C-15 is likely to be reintroduced this Thursday as bill S-10. The Bill is reported to include the same 9 months for 1 plant provisions and the same 18 months for making hashish provisions; it is expected to cost billions of dollars.

Sorry brother but the Liberals and NDP suppported this bill.

It really shows how truly political this issue really is no matter how much they claim its for a civil society.

It also shows the average mp ignorance of the issue, however given the majority are lawyers I can't see them cutting their own necks.

Lawyers should be banned from politics because of their inheritant conflict of interest.

im kind of shocked you support it DMT

i dont support it because due to the lack of access to the MMAR system. what are the regular 4 light small-time growers gonna do now???

violent criminals aka shiny shirters will benefit from this. people who can't get into the flawed and even unconstitutional MMAR system will be fucked. the only good i see coming out of this is people proactively getting into the fed MMAR program but i have a feeling thats a pipe dream. look @ the track record

+1. The compassion clubs stand to lose a lot from this legislation as they would be subject to these mandatory minimums due to the fact that they are "distributing narcotics". This means that patients will suffer. Furthermore, Crime will evolve and make accommodations for the new legislation, and the price of weed will go up. Very few of these shiny shirters will see the inside of a cell, and more and more will flock to the industry to fill the gaps. Rising prices means more money for criminals which means they will use more violence to protect their interests in the industry.

If mandatory minimums are instituted what do you all figure the price of an oz will be? Is $400 an oz for decent bud too high of an estimate? $300?

Fucking sad...

I was going to make a huge spiel about how the 6 or more plants thing is useless because plant numbers have no indication of possible production numbers.

I mean anyone who does even like half an hour of research on the topic would realize that 5 plants could produce anything from 5-5000 grams of bud.

There's micro growers who have 20 plants in a pc case producing an ounce of bud a crop and commercial growers who have 10 trees w/ a 1k each producing 20+ pounds a crop. Like get a fucking clue, plant numbers mean nothing.

At least some counties in cali finally caught on and are doing it by CANOPY SPACE as it should be done. How the fuck can anyone in the position of making laws on marijuana not know this? WTF!!@!KLJ!I@UY#

Anyway, if they are going back to the original bill which is mandatory minimums for 1 plant I'm going to fucking freak out. If its passed something needs to be done and I'm down for some protesting. I think here in BC we could get a good number of people together for a rally and say fuck off to the gov.

I mean why is it a crime to peacefully grow in my own home? Its completely victimless. The only real arguments anyone has against it is that there is the potential for other crime to be created from it, ie; someone breaking into my home to steal what I'm growing, or me selling what I grow on the black market. Both of these problems exist only because there is a black market in the first place! And the only reason there's a black market is because of these stupid laws!!! Fuck, none of it makes sense.. fuck prohibition.

And we were so close to semi legalization for posession following Chretien. Remember his famous " I'll have my joint in one hand and my fine in the other!"

Pathetic Harper piece of shite! Billions to incarcerate but nothing for water, energy (other than big oil), and renewable resources.

Health care is falling apart so I guess selling body parts to conservative elite is next. AHHHH that's what the prison, industrial complex is for.

They just updated whyprohibition and it has returned to 6 plants = 9 months. not 1 plant. Not sure when that got updated but I like the sounds of that a little bit better. Jail time for baked goods tho? silliness. Apparently our dear Mr. Harper has not been touch by alcoholism in his lifetime or he'd be handing out joints at AA meetings.
