When she was here in California, I was disgusted by the way that she accommodated those who are buying up housing with the intent of squeezing the hell out of people who are not able to rent a place on their own.
There is a racket targeting anyone who needs a place to live that is not able to fork out what it takes to rent a place on their own, let alone ever think of being able to buy a home of their own.
Feel like I am watching this roll slowly over the whole country.
Pack them in like sardines and with insane rental rates. This is happening right now all over the country.
Pay in cash and keep your mouth shut about zoning, health conditions etc.
Have a pal in the DC area that is living in one. 4 bedrooms downstairs with 10 people sharing a bathroom.

At the start of this thread I wasn’t in agreement about the US becoming a third world country, but the last few years have changed my mind. I’ve recently been studying the fall of different ancient empires, from Petra, Rome, to the Portuguese and British empire. The parallels of what lead those empires to crumble are all too similar to the state of society in the US, yet no one seems to be thinking about the future of America as a whole, it’s rather concerning.

That exceeds my definition of polite understatement. I am torn between selecting the joy and anger symbol

That exceeds my definition for polite understatement. I am torn between selecting the joy and anger symbol as has often been the case for me these days. Bless you for your kind and thoughtful contributions.
