No, he's absolutely a bad guy, it's just easier for you to be defensive to my comment as the 'real bad guys' have conditioned you to believe so much in the fantasy that is 'America'. I'd love to see the fat piece of privileged shit go to jail, hopefully he'd be a punk and experience the same thing he's perpetrated on so many less privileged people, but literally. I think he'd be a great place to start, but, I feel the same about every politician, how much of a piece of shit do you have to be to covet a role of such power and ego. And equally how silly do you have to be to believe any of these people have any sort of empathy or care for anyone else but themselves. America was founded on some great ideas and principals, but any idea or principal that can evoke such an emotional response can be used to manipulate and destroy. All empires crumble under their own weight and with the US being the US, it could only happen in spectacular fashion. Even if you fight the cancer, you still die in the end.

nope. sorry, but i am under no illusions about this countries politics/politicians/power brokers. so, i am left with the thought that you don't think the cancer is worth fighting because "you still die in the end". i'm not being "defensive" either. but i DO believe that, both long term AND short, he is the bigger danger to our nation. i see no one else leading an attempt to wrest control of voting from the VOTERS and give it to those that seek power long-term...never a good thing regardless of motives. "but WE know better, put US in charge!" ummm....no.
Not at all sure I think there will be any absolution for any of us going forward.
As to Trump being too dumb to be useful to the powers that be, I must point to
Trump having been provided with Barr, who had a very particular track record.
As to your contention that the powers that be are psychopaths, I agree fully.

The Polite way to put it is to state (accurately) that the American news media is run by the CIA.
Every editor of every news organization pays Homage.
That's how a baseball player Vomiting in the outfield during the previous day's game ends up on the front page of the SF Chronicle.
While 100's of other news incidents get pushed off the front page, and thousands of relevant news incidents simply do not get covered.

I appreciate the response, as do I your perspective, even if I disagree. You've spent more time on this earth than I so I have a fair bit of respect for the fact you've not become cynical and bitter towards the government as a whole. My life experience in the system has colored my perspective differently. I'm not allowed to vote for being involved in something that is now completely legal, I know I have avenues now to change this, but when I got out I didn't. I've also had family and many friends serve, to varying degrees, all have become pretty disillusioned to the system they sacrificed for, many are no longer with us and that's not from old age. That coupled with how hard it is to get out of that same system were a huge reason for me leaving the states and still having a bitter taste in my mouth every time I hear anything positive about the government. We can amicably agree to disagree and I like that about some of these threads, there are not many who I'd discuss my past with but have always felt comfortable doing it here, even if it comes off a bit aggressive at times. The fact that the reasonable ones among us all can come here to vent frustrations and people do listen and engage is pretty cool. As for the non reasonable and illogical, they're still fun to troll.
The thing about Liz Cheney; She emanates integrity, a steady hand, morality; maybe honesty. Could she break the mold and run a successful campaign as an independent?

so, when a story about CIA abuses comes out, (and they do) your position is that the CIA approves of the criticism of itself? this hardly sounds like a govt entity in charge of the news. i'm sure there is a news source which covers the topics that you think should be headlines. Truth Social, maybe? OAN ? Tass, perhaps...
I AM "cynical and bitter" about the situation in which we find ourselves. but i'm not so far gone as to believe that the CIA runs the news, nor is Israel in charge, there ARE no "jewish space lasers" starting fires, etc. nor do i think that there is a "deep state" trying to turn us all into prisoners in a socialist state. but i AM fairly positive that the GOP has decided that holding free and fair elections is not going to bring about the " White Christian Nation " that the right-wing racial bigots think God meant for us to be. when you cannot win an election without cheating, you have lost the game. both parties are guilty of gerrymandering for power, but the GOP has turned it into a science and has force-fed enough judges sympathetic to their cause into slots sufficient to protect them...for now. when one party gets over 60% of the votes cast in a state, but only holds 30% of the congressional seats, there is a visible problem... prove me wrong. 
She is pro torture, voted with Trump 93% of the time, her family should be prosecuted for war crimes. These people have no integrity or morals. It's a facade. They want to do all the shit Trump did plus even worse shit but don't want to breach decorum like Trump did because it rocks the boat too much.
I am not my father. Family prosecuted? You may be correct about the rest.
