In California, there are many openings because they fired everyone for not getting jabbed and they won't hire the clean-blooded. There is also lots of drug testing going on even though weed is legal. So there's tons of discrimination in hiring. Hempy is looking for a new job if anyone has any leads:tiphat:

it sucks.... the greatest nation in the world should not have homeless, and every american should have health insurance..... but if u dig deeper someone, somewhere is making $$$$.... same with drugs.... they could stop the flow, but someone is getting rich
way too many jobs rely on putting/keeping American citizens in jail and unable to vote. private prisons are built with a contract with the state promising that cells WILL be kept at 90% occupancy minimum. if not enough genuine criminals to fill them up, why not allocate wings of the jails as homeless centers, giving them a roof overhead, a degree of safety, & 3 squares a day, but letting them work on job skills behind unlocked doors?

They need to bring back mental institutions and actually treat people for their problems. Not just closing them all down and turning the mentally ill loose on the streets and into the county jails. Of course they have also redefined what is and is not a mental illness so you got what they want you to have.

Hey lets spend some more money, that will fix it.

Wow that guy is annoying. And the jokes are horrible. But god forbid someone gets market price for their private property. Oh the humanity! Let me guess…you think the goverment should build some brutalist housing projects for all you poor lefties to live in for free?
Ad hominems aside, the information he's laying out is 100% correct and has nothing to do with "market price". The point is these people are charging whatever the fuck they want. Housing is not a commodity, it's a basic human right. Landlords and corporations like Blackrock are parasites. You can't complain about the homeless problem in places where rent is $4000 per month while simultaneously saying shit like "landlords have a right to price gouge".

A new analysis by the University of Illinois Extension detailed the population loss plaguing Illinois. Not only are we losing population, but the median age is rising; Young people – college grads, wage earners – are fleeing their home state for more friendly economies.

“The number just keep getting worse, and the sad thing is that when it’s a drip-drip-drip like that, no one does anything about it. Until one day, suddenly, we realize we have a problem,” Dabrowski said. “That’s the Brain Drain that any city or state should fear, because once you get Brain Drain, you’re done. You get that in all those southern Illinois cities where they’re losing their smart people, the young people, and they’re not coming back.”

In 2019, the population in Illinois fell for the sixth year in a row, according to new census estimates released last week.

The estimates show that the primary reason for the state's declining population has been the growing number of people leaving Illinois for other states.

WBEZ analyzed other census data — responses to the American Community Survey and the Current Population Survey — to get a better handle on who's actually leaving Illinois and why.

WBEZ examined that data in two periods: from 2009 to 2013, when the population in Illinois was growing, and the years since 2014, when the state's population declined each year.

An estimated 1,628,866 people left Illinois for other states from 2014 to 2018, according to the WBEZ analysis. That's up 15.6% from the number that left the state from 2009 to 2013.

And yet companies are begging for workers.
there have been studies done recently that show that despite record number of applicants for certain jobs careers etc, the businesses aren't actually hiring, or they're straight up lying on the applications. it's not as simple as you make it seem to be. just like with the inflation issue. also why would someone work for 7-10 bucks an hour when gas is $7/gal and rent is astronomical? i'd rather be a criminal if i was put into that position.

nice idea , but they probably can't charge the $$$$ for the homeless , they can for criminals... but that's def a good idea
the state is paying for those cells to be occupied, regardless of whether or not it is prisoners in there. looks to me like it would be a win/win situation. fuck, they are trying to make being homeless a crime anyway...let's put them in there & give them job training & basic security BEFORE they get arrested. make job-holding citizens out of them instead of prisoners. only "downside" is that those citizens will be eligible to vote, which is what many on the right are trying to prevent to start with, whether they have the balls to say it in public or not...

Cannavore says "i'd rather be a criminal if i was put into that position." i don't see where a person would have a choice, really. :good: who was it that said "kill and eat the rich" ? not ALL the rich, some of them have a conscience, but it is beginning to sound like an idea with a future.

Where does the basic human right of housing come from? is this something new?

And it's a wonder there are any solvent landlord at all after two years of covid eviction protections.

And how many companies turn people away for no vax or even worse, have cannabis in their system? Or the current social cancel culture influences?

just kidding of course but you could easily understand why someone would rather sell drugs or do illegal activities or whatever to get by lol
i DO understand. there are many rich i might nibble on, but not truly eat. :sneaky: lots of folks making $$$ selling drugs, including otherwise law-abiding seniors selling their meds in order to buy food. f'ing criminals everywhere you look, lol. :shucks: many have no other options. if it is the only way you can feed and house your family (if married etc) people are more flexible than they think. seeing your children hungry makes one look at shit differently...

Home of one of the Premier Colleges of the world......

In Champaign/Urbana, 80% of students graduate but only about a third score reading-proficient on the SAT.

We absorb the knowledge of others by reading. I was I was taught to read by my grandfather who enjoyed reading his newspaper with me
sitting there with him. I recall little of that, but do remember, that I always enjoyed spending time reading more than spending time with other
people.
Once someone has figured out that they can learn neat and interesting things through reading, that is pretty much all it takes to
have someone who will enjoy and appreciate education, and want more of it for the rest of their days.
