When I was younger I did spend time with someone who had worked out at Ft Detrick.
I recalled their having mentioned that the people who worked there would for prophylactic reasons pretreat themselves when
working on some projects.
They had the strong belief that one could survive exposure to many of the pathogens by washing out the nasal
passages immediately following the exposure.
What I recalled most strongly was that this was something that those who worked there did on
their own, that is to say that it was a protocal that the staff there had developed themselves.
They used a colloidal silver solution, but the person I spoke with could not recall the strength of the solution.
Ran across something yesterday which informed me that it was exactly the same stuff that had once been used to treat
gonorrhoea.

Argyrol

a complex prepared by the reaction of silver oxide with either gelatin or serum albumin. Black shiny crystals liberate silver and it was formerly widely used as a topical anti-infective on mucous membranes. Contains 19-25% silver, only a small fraction of which is ionizable. Can produce black or brown pigmentation due to deposition of reduced silver in the tissues.

As a child, I was exposed to both the British and American educational systems, and they both seemed about the same to me.
It was more like the process was there to teach us how to get along with others far more so that to actually learn anything .
Got far more from their libraries than I I ever did in the classrooms.
It did however give a sense of appreciation for higher learning, which of course is where the good stuff was kept.
It was almost like one had to demonstrate that they could put up with stupid crap for years just to even get access to
the things which were actually of interest and use.
I learned about everything I know from those who went though WWll when they very young themselves.

We had the encyclopedia Brittanica man pop by once a month - for his 5 shillings - since we had the whole set - and paid it off via credit - ( buy now - pay later ) - there was a wonder in books back then - that you don't see so much of these days -

Believe it was the regional Patterson's Field guides that I used.
Back then, people collected and save neat reading material.
Was blessed with access to collections of old magazines popular science, popular mechanics etc,
that sure seemed neat to me.
Did not have access to such as encyclopaedias until I started school.
Will always remember that feeling I had from understanding how neat the first one was, and the
comfort of knowing there was more of similar available.

We absorb the knowledge of others by reading. I was I was taught to read by my grandfather who enjoyed reading his newspaper with me
sitting there with him. I recall little of that, but do remember, that I always enjoyed spending time reading more than spending time with other
people.
Once someone has figured out that they can learn neat and interesting things through reading, that is pretty much all it takes to
have someone who will enjoy and appreciate education, and want more of it for the rest of their days.
i went to school, joined USAF, came out and went BACK to school for certificate & degree in mechanical engineering/welding etc. learned a lot of useful stuff. but i bet 90 % of what i really use in life, i learned by insatiable reading, and lying on my back in a gravel driveway as a kid, helping my father work on cars. miss you, Charlie...:shucks:

Chicago....Not My Kind Of Town....

...
Rabine, the founder of the Rabine Group and owner of 13 businesses. His road-paving company is hitting the highway and getting out of Chicago, he said.

“We would do thousands of jobs a year in the city, but as we got robbed more, my people operating rollers and pavers we got robbed, our equipment would get stolen in broad daylight and there would usually be a gun involved, and it got expensive and it got dangerous,” Rabine told Fox News this week.

The additional cost of security and insurance meant jobs cost “twice as much as they should be,” he said, noting that work done for utilities ultimately meant ratepayers who could not afford it bore the extra costs.

LIZ CHENEY FOR PRESIDENT! yeah, i know. she voted for a lot of The Chumps bullshit. :shucks: but she is the "Iron Lady" style of Republican that -just might- be able to drag this nation back from the lip of the abyss we are looking at. i'd vote for her... or Larry Hogan from Maryland. i voted against The Chump with my ballot for Biden. the Democratic party would have to really surprise me to get me back in their column again...unless the GOP puts Chump up again. i'd vote for Satan first...TWICE!:headbange

If questioner (Cheney) wants to appear fair to jury (American people), it probably is not a good idea to get caught on camera hugging the witness…see below from @Politico; already people have very strong feelings - both ways - about this hearing and pics like this don’t help;
