Okay, now time for the big update. Got some fun pics :D

The defs have been controlled, quite well, as you can see. B52 is beefing up, and the switch to 11/13 has made those Sativa girls finally get their asses going. I do have one girl showing nitrogen overfert, but majority rules in my room. Everyone else is doing great, and the B52 is the flagship, so as long as everyone else is happy, she'll have to just deal with it.

I upgraded my fan, and moved the smaller fan below the canopy, so we've got all kinds of fantastic airflow going around, between the A/C, a 12" fan on the canopy, and a smaller fan underneath. Plus, the cool tube intake has a small hole pulling hot air out of the top.

Let's take a look, shall we? I got some light off shots just so you guys would quit whining :nanana:

Here's the flower room

Here's the first flowering bag and the B52 side by side. Guess which one got more veg and has a bit of sativa in her? :biglaugh:

And a closer look at that bagseed

Here's a shot of the new fan configuration

You may notice some gray dust on 'em - no worries, they just got a dusting of DE.

Now, there's some new developments. dc105 and the Mota crew graciously provided me with a test pack of their new cross, Budosia. This is a cross of Knights Templar and G13 - don't get no better than that. Now, I'm guessing Budosia is a reference to ambrosia, the nectar of the Greek gods, providing enlightenment, ecstasy, and immortality to those who drank it.

Can't wait to see if she loves up to those lofty aspirations. Although, given the genetics, I really wouldn't be surprised :D

Also included was a pack of Twisted Fruit. Not sure of the genes on this one, hopefully dc will chime in on that.

So, I come to an impasse. Obviously, testers are meant to be tested, not waiting around. However, the flowering pod is, to say the least full, and I intend to keep it that way to set up a 30 day perpetual. So, what to do, what to do...

Hmmm, there are those flip flop parts lying around... And plenty of room for another pod... I think I have a solution

I'm also thinking about flipping those 1kw cool tubes vertical. That'd be awesome, methinks.

Any comments, questions?

Til next time

hey nt - things are coming along nicely.

I would think that upon completion of this round you could do all or some of the following;

1. Select moms - I'm thinking not all them bagseeds will be desirable
2. Flip the cool tubes and get vertical with a perpetual cylinder of green - yeah baby I like this plan - maybe have 4 walls of green with the light in the middle - harvest and replace two walls every 30 days - again when you select your moms you'll have better handle on how this can work for you
3. Drop them seeds. Create a new smaller wattage - if you have a smaller wattage lamp to use other wise go with the flip flop - but I would think you wouldn't want to double the current cooling needs by adding a second 1000 watter on 12/12 - this second smaller wattage pod would be for testing out new strains.

So you'd have an unstructured test flower pod and then your vertical structured production pod where known clones are flowered in a perpetual stylee

dems my thoughts.

Yep, I agree with everything Suga.

The B52 I have a cut of in the veg room, as a mom, since it's the only known genetics I have going right now. That poor little TWxBurmese tried, but just couldn't make it. Sprouted, then two days later flopped over and never came back :badday: So, the B52 is the mom for now, just so I have a known quantity to keep me in smoke while I make more discerning selections.

As far as the bagseed, I really hadn't planned on screening for moms out of this batch. But then that 1st flowering bagseed caught my eye. She went into flower quickly, and bud formation is progressing well. She also has the most interesting aroma... Kind of a soury chemmy type smell. Kinda like someone peed on a dead skunk while their car leaked fluid nearby. So I'm definitely keeping an eye on her for a reveg, depending on the smoke of course.

Exactly what I was thinking about with flipping the tubes, except with a few large plants, tree style. Flip it vert, pretty much right where the B52 is now, and 4 plants around it with some good veg on 'em.

I don't have a smaller wattage lamp to setup, which is why I'm thinking of going flip-flop. I've got the parts for a flip flop, so it'd just cost me about $50 for materials for the new pod. I wouldn't be doubling my cooling needs though - only 1 would be on at a time, and I've already got an A/C for another pod.

I went a little nuts buying cheap A/Cs off of Craigslist :biglaugh:

darn - I had hoped she'd sprout - if you don't mind me asking do you use anything as far as an antifungal in your germination/seedling water? I've always used a few drops of bleach in my water that is used for seed soaking and wetting of the medium - that and I really like rw cubes for germination. I actually did a how to thread on germining seeds that I will humbly recommend

sounds like a plan although I should point out that someone with your skills could pick up a cheap 400 ballast kit at a place like e-conolight and wire it up for a bit more than $50 and save some on the electricity bill

Yeah, I actually built the 400w in my veg room from a kit from htgsupply. Thing with adding in a new light is that I'd still have to build a new pod. So all the sudden the cost of an extra pod doubles, at a minimum.

The electrical usage on the 1kw is only $25/month. Plus, 1kw is just perfect for 4x4, and plywood is 4 feet wide, so it cuts down on construction time :D

The TWxBurmese really got my hopes up too. She sprouted up, looked good for about a day, then just flopped over for no apparent reason. Broke my heart :badday:

I germed them in Rapid Rooters, and everything else I've done in there, clones and seeds, have done well. Except for the Durban Poison, but you pointed out there were some known germ problems there. Usually I add some H2O2 to the water, as a preventative like you mentioned.

oh well sounds like the dual 1000watt flip/flop pods are somewhere on the horizon - one for production and one for experimentation. Have you ever read about completely enclosed systems where a third equally sized room is used as a lung room. In this third room goes the air conditioning (the head exhaust of which actually would go outside the room making it not truly a closed system), humidifier, dehumidifier, CO2 generator, various fans and filters and the ballast. Maximum yield has the best write up on one of this large scale setups - three 10' x 10' rooms. But I could imagine this being adapted to your two 4' x 4' pods allowing you to close off from the outside world your flowering world and be in complete control.

I did actually think of that, and tried to semi implement it with my duct box running behind the cabinet. It worked well, but not quite well enough for my tastes. So, I put the A/C directly into the pod, and brought in a separate intake for the lights.

So, while it's not technically a closed system, it does work out to be very much as you describe. The garage acts as this third room in my situation. My A/Cs exhaust there, and my carbon scrubber sits there. No CO2 for me :D

I have put a small (really small, like 1"x1")in the ducting drawing air from the outside through the 1kw light. This draws off the hot stinky air at the top of the pod to the carbon filter.

I'm not 100% decided on the flip-flop pods, but I'm looking very closely at it. I don't really need a pod for production, since I'm not selling. Hell, chances are I'll get way more than I need off of just this crop. I'll just make a bunch of bubble, BHO, and edibles if I have enough. Of course a coupla ounces of bud too  The rest will just end up in the fire pit.

But I was thinking of having one for flowering known genetics while I play with new genes in the other. I want to make sure I've got plants going on a 30 day cycle, because I'm absolutely done with ever running out of smoke again. It's happened between every harvest, but no more :joint:

Twisted Fruit is Grapefruit X [Killer Queen X NYC Diesel]

Both the Budosia and the Twisted fruit are very fresh! I've just soaked 5 to see if the Budosia has cured enough! I'll be placing them in wet paper towels now to see! I'll let ya know in a couple of daze! The twisted fruit is one flavor packed plant! Everyone LOVES it that has grown or smoked it! Sadly to say I have never tasted it!
I have some curing though!!!!!!!!!
