Hey Baker, Budweiser

It is about time for an update, isn't it?

Well, here's a shot of the veg room. The Swt13 clone is just getting the tips of her roots into the water, we'll expect her to take off real soon as she gets down into the nutes real well.

The Swt13 mom is lookin' kinda upset over there in the corner. She got a bit over watered, so she'll stay kinda upset lookin' for few days as we let her dry out real good.

The Brain Warps, are, as you can tell, doin' great. The two MM seedlings have joined them.

Unfortunately, none of the seeds have shown any life.

Can't figure that one out. I really don't see the PH causin' a complete meltdown like that, but I'm at a loss to figure it out. Time to bust out the herm canary genes, and play with them to see if we can figure out the sprouting problems. Because we don't want to ruin any more great genes, like the ThunderFuckin' Blockead (TFB = MTFxBlockhead) and Cheese seeds that just arrived :woohoo:

Now, over in the flower room, things are looking great. I went monkey on her again, and like the dirty girl she is, she loved it! Check out how spread she is now :joint:

I won't be snapping her anymore, may do a bend here and there, but she's officially at 19 days of 12/12, and 20 begins the No-Stress Zone.

I do believe she's primed to show us what she's really got this time around :joint:

Til next time

i just don't get what happened with those seeds? you sprouted them in a glass of water right? then you planted them with the root pointing down, with the seed just a couple of mm under the medium right? so how the fuck is it possible that they don't pop the soil? i'm at a loss, how have the other GH testers been doing with germ rates?

anyway, better luck next time, how is your soil? not too hot is it? i think it's a good idea to do a practice sprout run with bag seed.

at least the ST mum is doing the business eh?

good growings

just went through the same thing here. good advice with the bag seed run...very good advice I think I'll try. in my case it may be temps too low.

Grow's lookin good NT

Yeah, I'm not sure what the hell happened  And yeah, I mentioned in the update that it's time to whip out those canary hermi seeds and find out what in the world is going on.

Only thing I can think of is that water, but that would be a pretty dang extreme reaction to PH, especially since they weren't intaking nutes.

I thought about temps too, BG, but I had them on a heat mat, and ambient is 80F.

I'm confrazzled by the whole deal

well I just posted in the 150watt club that one of my seeds may be popping through the soil finally. if it does it will be aprox a 20 day germination time. 2 phenos of the same strain took under 7 days in the same conditions and all three cracked the seed in a glass of water in under 24 hours...all planted in peet pellets the same day...Feb 18th and here we are with one just comin up now....crazy huh? ... confrazzled to say the least NT

Peace

Hey hey guys, I've been absent a bit as I tried to sort out the seeds thing, but I tihnk now is the time for a mini update.

I believe I have found the source of trouble in my garden. Oddly enough, it was the SWT 13 mother clone that clued me in. She has been showing signs of a severe mag deficiency, and that clued me in to the underlying problem. I couldn't figure out how she was getting a mag defeciency, as the nutes were the same as all the other plants that were doing fine.

Then it hit me. Mag is locked up by calcium, and calcium builds up on the walls of pipes. The PH of the water that was the problem, the PH was a symptom of calcium buildup in the pipes. So I adjusted the PH, but the high calcium content combined with the calcium in the nutes created a mag lockout.

This would explain the issues with the slow starting seedlings, failures to sprout, and the way the clones (especially the DWC) have failed to thrive. The clones, while coming from a mature plant, are just putting out roots, and are, for all intents and purposes, basically sprouts. So, the young plants are getting destroyed by the calcium buildup.

A very close check of the DWC girl revealed that she is indeed showing very very slight signs of a mag def as well, seeming to confirm my hypothesis. I'm guessing the hydro system is preventing the calcium from building up to the level it is in the soil.

So, I've already dispatched my runners for 5 gallons of R/O water, and tonight I'll change out the DWC solution with R/O, and transplant the MM seedlings and the SWT 13 mom-to-be.

Everyone else is doing great. The Brain Warp seedlings have really spurted up, and the SWT 13 in flower is looking delicious. Those I'm not messing with - if it ain't broke don't fix it :D

I'll do a full update later when I get everything swapped out later tonight.

Ah, the joys of dialing in a new room :D

hey bro just checking in... i like that "I've already dispatched my runners for 5 gallons of R/O water" hehe tell her to pick up some milk and bread too mate :D

allways is a bit fiddly when changing grow rooms/setups letalone house etc etc...
great analysis though mate...it will all fall into place and work out great once these minor bugs in the system are worked out and over come..

ill be keeping an eye on these brain warp thingys lol., sound loike a trippy strain

all the best

Hi NiteTiger,

it's great to hear that the BW are doing good, hope the MM get their asses into gear for you eh? lol.

WOW,
Especially since I'm still a new grower, I find it funnily odd that one problem can cause so many others in the growing process. And then when one of the problems down the road is found, it eventually leads to the original problem. I'm glad for you that you finally figured out what the REAL problem was. Now things should really pop off.

True Blue - Sup bro! Been a bit since you stopped by  I didn't have to tell her to get bread and milk, she already knows :D don'ttellherIsaidthat  I appreciate the words of encouragement, hopefully we'll get all the kinks out here fairly soon.

Gaius - Heya bro! I hope I've gotten to the bottom of it too. What was throwing me off was how well the older plants were doing. But once I thought about the calcium, it all kinda clicked. Of course the older plants would appreciate the higher calcium - if you remember, I had to add CalMag to the program on the last run. It was kind of a 'DUH!' moment :D

SO, you guys ready for some pics?

Here we are in the veg room. DWC girl got a new nute mix with the R/O, as did the up and coming mom. She also got new soil as well. I'm really hoping they'll pick up the next few days - I want them to do what the Brain Warps have done :D Check out those happy girls!

Of course, after all the moaning and groaning, I've got to give you guys a glimpse of hope -

The SWT13 in flower. She's taken over about 75% of the pod! Also, take note of how fat those lower buds are looking - definitely no light penetration problems this go 'round :D

What, you're looking for more?

Heh, surely you didn't think I'd leave you with out some up close and personal shots of her girly parts :D Plus, they remind you of why I wanted to keep this pheno - look at that frost forming :woohoo: It just gives me the warm fuzzies to see this and realize she's still got about a month and a half still to go :joint:

Heya MJ, glad you stopped by my little corner over here

Damn, did I really forget to put the day on it again?! Damn, I'm getting lazy LOL

She's on day 26 of 12/12, looking at a target harvest date of around April 15th.

The Sweet13 is by the Texas Resin Company. It's a cross between Sweettooth #3 and TRC's Double Indica. The Double Indica was originally thought to be X-13, hence the 13, but some doubts arose about its lineage, so they changed the name to keep from misleading folks.

As far as nutes go, I'm using FloraNova Bloom at Lucas ratios. I add some molasses for the flowering girl.

As far as the babies in the veg room go, I think I've finally figured out the problem, but we'll find out soon enough. Hoping to see some improvement as soon as tomorrow in the DWC girl. It's not that it is bad, it's just not as good as I want :D

The main problem is with those seedlings. I'm pretty damn sure the rest of the MM and the WR are gone, and that just pisses me off to no end. The two MM are struggling, but hopefully we'll get them fixed up if I'm right about the problem.

Here's hoping!

It appears all has gone as planned. The DWC Girl has popped up and added new growth at a rather surprising pace, and the mom to be has added new growth as well.

Whew! :woohoo:

I must admit, I'm rather proud of myself for tracking down the problem :D

HEHE, now that you have got problems under control, i was wondering when you were gonna put some new beans in the ground. I hate to say it, but by now... i dont think your other ones are gonna do anything. sorry for your loss, but im also glad to see that you have things in control now. and what beans and how many are you gonna put in the ground?

I'm not sure if I'm going to pop them immediately though. I was worried about having to fire up another flower pod for the White Rhinos for Green House (still super bummed about losing those), so I will probably let the DWC girl, the Brain Warps, and pray I get a girl in the 2 Mississippi Muds that popped before I start anything else.

But, that Chees...not to mention the TFB... I dunno if I'll be able to resist!

yeah pity about the WR etc. was looking forward to seeing how they turn out. so what do you plan to pop next? glad to hear 2 of the MM are still with you and should be coming around, in time.

have you done a bag seed test sprout yet? that would soon show you if you got the problem sorted out.

Yes indeed, Gaius, the bagseed test will be happening tonight!

But like I said, I'm probably going to let everything in the veg room get a little farther along before I pop anything else. I'm trying to avoid firing up that second flowering pod if I can.
