Thoughts on the war

I'm just wondering what people's thoughts are on what's happening with the world just now
I don't think anyone would like to see it in all scale war I know I wouldn't
How do you folk think it will pan out?
What will happen when it's over?
Obviously Russia will be held accountable but what will the punishment be as a lot of Russians don't want war
It's a strange one

anti-war protests going on in Russia, despite it being "illegal". much like China, disagreeing with the govt there is punishable by incarceration with only a show trial, if any trial at all. Putin wants to re-establish the Soviet Union, but i don't think that will happen. quite likely the original plan was for The Chump to be re-elected & give his buddy in Moscow a free hand in Europe by gutting NATO in return for forgiving all of his debts to Russian bankers/mobsters. long term, it would not surprise me if what is left of Russia disintegrates into more small countries like Latvia etc after Putin is gone. only thing holding the Rube Goldberg device together is the security forces & Putins "cult of personality" resulting from being former KGB head. i believe Russia as a massive state is dying, and that we may be seeing its last years in existence. there is no one in place for a "succession" strongman after Putin dies. JMHO

Expect the unexpected.

This may turn out way different than what anybody thinks.

Ukraine and Zelensky are putting up a good fight.

Kick some ass, Ukraine!!!

Personally I think its a distraction. Me thinks there is something else brewing. I hope not, but the thought is out there nonetheless.

China is probably gonna take over Taiwan soon, maybe tomorrow. They just announced a big naval exercise starting tomorrow.

Xiden is on vacation in Delaware.

I must say that I admire the Ukrainian people for such a willingness to fight a stronger enemy. Not just the military, but many of the civilians are picking up arms and the President is refusing to leave. I really don't see them laying down and accepting a puppet Government. The US/NATO need to keep funneling weapons into the country, especially stingers and javelins. If Putin is intent on taking what's not his, the Ukrainians are going to make it hurt.

gotta give much of that credit to their president. if he had taken the easy way out & allowed himself to be evacuated, it would have been a very short fight IMO. it still may, but i don't think Putin will ever be able to call it a "victory" and relax. the Ukrainian people are probably just as stubborn (and better armed) as the Afghans. would have been nice if the US had learned a lesson from that fiasco..."learn from history or be doomed to repeat it" or, as Einstein said "insanity is doing the same thing over & over and expecting a different result".

This is looking more and more like what the likely outcome will be. The one thing though that could turn things in Russia's favor is if Putin rolls the dice and commits the rest of the forces he's been building up to an all out assault. So far he's sent in only about 20-25% of his forces. If that's true and he sends in the rest of his forces all at once he might overwhelm the resistance. If on the other hand he does that and the Ukrainians still manage to hold their ground then he's done and will have to retreat in shame. Some experts are saying that with all the sanctions in place and the fairly fragile state of the Russian economy to begin with, he only has about 10 days before he runs out of money to keep the offensive going.

The US is -NOT- the Good Guys.

Anyone who the US supports is typically a small country caught in the middle.

Imagine the Cuban Missile Crisis - where Russia did NOT remove their missiles.

Cuba would be caught in the Middle, while the US did what they needed to do.

Now there is a similar situation in the Ukraine - American proxy forces literally on Russia's border.

Sort of like having Russian Troops - and possibly Russian weapons - in Tijuana.

Ukraine is un-wise to let the US "be-friend" them.

Though the US never really "be-friends" any country.

The US sort of "be-enemy'd" Ukraine.

AKA, Cold War 2.

Though in reality the US never ended Cold War 1.

EVEN BEFORE the USSR fell, the US gov. started literally attacking American citizens who were anti-war.

The US gov. was Afraid, because of the massive anti-war protests that occurred in San Francisco in January 1991.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/arch...t-35000/a95c2e7d-7d9d-4a09-b8a3-029b91f969b6/

So they launched Cointelpro 2 & Cointelpro 3, LITERALLY declaring war on American Citizens who were Anti-War.

Historian Anton Chaitkin described Cointelpro 2 in his book, "the Ugly Truth about the ADL".

He describes the US gov. response to anti-war American citizens.

Putin is not trying to crush Ukraine. he is not destroying the cities, ruining their army. He just wants the west the F out of there, and them not in NATO.

Poland is foolish for allowing the west to use their country as a staging ground. They are inviting trouble on themselves also.

So now Putin brings the nuclear threat in
Kinda changes the whole ball game
It's a very scary thought it's alright for those in power sitting in their bunkers but for the normal people like you and me a post-nuclear world is not a happy thought for those unlucky enough to survive
There must be a way this can be resolved surely......

Yes it’s all gone fucking nuts. The emotional state of Putin is most worrying. This action is totally disproportionate to the situation.

If the Ukraine could hit Russia that hard, as a final act, there would be nobody for Russia to bomb anyway. I think a few countries would be quite happy to see Moscow gone. They might even be doing all they can to slip the Ukraine a few wmd's as such an opportunity doesn't come up very often.

Russia takes the Ukraine.
The then mising Ukraine blows up Russia.
Russia has nobody to retaliate against, as the Ukraine is then theirs.
Russia falls apart.
The west save the Russian people, dividing the place up into manageable units that can't have a single leader again.
One unit, we call the Ukraine.

you failed World History, didn't you? the missile silos in Cuba were never completed, they could not launch even if they had wanted to. Kennedy blockaded Cuba, Russia blinked, turned around & went home. imagine if The Chump had been POTUS then, & Russia succeeded in making Cuba a Soviet nuclear missile base with his blessings. i guess that would have made YOUR day...both sides have nuke missile submarines now, Cuba irrelevant in any case.

i'm still not convinced that the Ukraine really gave all of their nuclear weapons back to Russia when they became independent. they SAID they did, but did they? would Russia nuke their own troops in the Ukraine in a retaliatory strike? something to think about...
