Wasn't even going to post this but I feel like I need to get it off my chest...
I'll keep it short...
Other day noticed some leaking through walls in the basement but not from perimeter wall, it was coming from wall backing up to crawlspace... go check it out and it is flooded to shit...
landlord tells us later that they knew there was a pipe not connected... lucky for us a tree root decided to grow through our drain pipe and clogged it all up... so everything started backing up and flooding out from the part that was not sealed... whole bunch of bullshit... bees... mold... lot's of people coming by the house... landlord's being stingy...
And then tonight... I left the lights off OFF on the flower cab so I could go in and harvest some girls in the dark... when I go to turn the lights on... nothing.... tried bunch of shit.. and nothing... took it apart and the ballast looks fine..
I guess I blew out the bulb? I haven't even had it for that long..?
Guess it is time to upgrade... I'm not buying another 150w... suggestions? Anyone know any nice deals out there right now?
this brings me to my next dilemma... I don't see myself burning the full 1000w ANYTIME SOON. Most my grows will be on shared 15 AMP circuits and I would not feel safe drawing more than half the constant reccomended load at any given time...
15x120=1800w*.8(Constant Load)= 1440... 600w would still stay under half of that constant load...
Is it worth it going for the 1000w and just keeping it dimmed down? Or would it just be smarter to go with the 600w dimmable so that I am not constantly replacing expensive ass 1000w bulbs? What is everyone's opinion?
Most importantly... how hot is the 1000w dimmable compared to the 600w dimmable... will the 1000w dimmed to 600w be equal to the 600w or cooler or hotter?
I only planned on upgrading to a 6" exhaust which is my next question...
Would I be better off going with a Can Fan 6HO matched to a Can33/Can50 OR A 6" vortex matched to a 6x16"/6x24" Phresh Filter...
how do you guys think the 6" will do at cooling the bigger lights than I am used to? I am sure I have a few more questions I am forgetting...
I love my quantum, hard to say on the heat but definately much cooler when set at 4-600.
A 6inch will cool a 1k no problem get yourself a speed control IMO
depending on your funds ss justifies wich direction to go.
I love the solis tek and the can fan combo but I wouldnt go that direction personnally becuz of cost
400 for a ballast is alot of dough Im guessing roughly 250 for the can fan combo
650 total.plus another 100 for a decent hood but lets figure 250 for a raptor why cut back on the dream system so lets call it 900
I would personnally be thinkink more on the lines of
K ,
makes that easier, 1 k with the can fan combo.always nice to have the 1000 watt option.
you could still run the fan and ballast full power safely.
9.9for the ballast and my 6 inch pulls less than 1 amp
leaves a few amps left for accesorys
I really don't know if I wanna go full 1k... and I mean shared as in like a bedroom circuit... with possible tv's, video games, computer, phone chargers, 5 amps for a 600w and 1 for a fan makes me feel alot safer then 1 amp left for miscellaneous...
do you know which controllers DO work with Can's? I am almost leaning more towards the Vortex combo though...
Ah so many decisions... So for ballasts... I think I am deff going Quantum unless someone reccomends not to...
400w is $130
600w is $140
1000w is $150
USHIO Hilux Bulbs in same order:
400w is $40
600w is $60
1000w is $70
It only makes sense to go with the 1000w makes it is only $50 more in total then the 400w setup... but I just DON'T SEE myself running 1k ANYTIME SOON...
Also would I run into any problems if I went with this fan instead of a Can or a Vortex or should I once again just pay the extra $50 bucks?
Also would it be fine to get the 6"x16" Phresh Filter instead of the 6"x24" to match the above fan, Or should I go with Can still? Anyone have any reccomendations for speed controllers?
EDIT: Also how loud are these fans going to be? I want to be able to cool my fans and exchange air twice per minute but i don't want my bedroom sound like an airport runaway... anyone have any reccomendations for duct muffler/silencers?
these are the type controllers for can fans .if you use a speedster type controm the fan gets loud humming wise and i beleive you can burn the motor out The valueline or vortech will run fine with the speedster type control.i cant help with the ductmuffler but my 6 inch isnt to bad contolled but an 8 inch can fan does sound like a jet
double the bulb prices to gonna need 1mh 1hps.And i believe the 600mh bulbs are a bit more pricey I may be wrong .plus 1ks are easyier to get in a pinch any electical supply carries them for 40-50 bucks versus the600 you'll only find those online or grow shops
6x24 on the filter always better to go as big as possible you shouldnt have a problem with 1 light
Evev if you dont plan on running 1 k any time soon you mayuse it on occasion ya never know. The bonus with the dimmables here and there for an 1or 2 hours a days mite be an option
what fan do you have, the can? cuz $250 for the speed controller seems ridiculous! That's twice as much as the fan! I am thinking of getting the C.A.P or the Vortex or a Hurricane and matching it up with the 6"x24" filter and a 6" Phresh duct muffler as well.
Agree it makes sense to have the option for the 1000w even if I can't use it... it's only $50 more with an option for upgrade! I will prob always be running on 6 though, maybe even 4 to start out with... the quantum goes all the way down to 400w right?
As far as MH, I really don't think I NEED it... I have a veg chamber but it is gonna to be weak in comparison to my new flower area... lol maybe I'll pick up a MH too. Damn man you are killing me.
Haha so C.A.P Valuline 6" or Vortex? and what speed controller should I get to go with them? Also what about Hurricane fans bro? PLH has 6" Vortex for $140... Amazon has 6" C.A.P. valuline's for $80 BUT PLH also has hurricane 6" for $70!!
dont know much about the hurricanes I have a 4-6 hydrofarm with the hydrofarm speed contollers I try to keep things matched up.Yeah i hear ya on the cost of that controll .In the warehouse i wasnt worried shit peeps were running 12 and 16"s all around meNo way i'm using it here .gonna ebay it.
I forgot you had a veg area I dont at the moment so you could get away with the hps to be honest i used them in veg for years I didnt start using the mh till montana
The fans your thinking should all be compatible with the speedster type control
also called a router speed control 20 bucks or so
