Hey hempy...totally unrelated to what I am quoting here, but a good while back you said you were going to write up an explanation of....the southern strategy, flipping of the dem and republican ideas, and something or other from like 20 years before and/or after...maybe the klan of the 40s or tough on crime legislation from the 80s. Anywho, if that horribly bad description rings any bells and you are still interested in writing it up i would read. I dont remember the details exactly other than it had something to do with how parties basically flipped in reaction to the civil rights at in 1964. I was curious to see how you would tie it in as the brief explanation involved events that were pretty far apart in terms of history.

Or not, no bigs and my bad description probably doesn't ring any bells.

I don't agree with subsidizing corporations, but for the most part we live in a capitalist economy. Businesses like Amazon are hard to compete against for reasons we all know why. I watched my dad start a business with nothing but a work van and a bag of tools, I worked with him since I was a kid and now we are very successful and went a long way from where we started.

Companies like Amazon are hard to compete with because they are oligopolies that pay no taxes because the government and economy is rigged for the elite. Not because of the free market. There is no such thing as a free market. It only operates for the peasants like your dad to compete amongst themselves.

Market competition is vital to a functioning capitalist economy. Who are Amazon's competition? It's like saying Coke's competition is Pepsi..... No! They have what is basically a shared monopoly on the market. If you tried to start a soda company up from scratch you'd probably get sued into oblivion by Pepsi/Coke's law teams, or you'd fail miserably, or you'd be bought out by Pepsi/Coke.

As a data nerd, if you click on boogies link and follow the link in the first paragraph to see the Bloomberg polling info....thats pretty interesting stuff right there.

I do a lot of statistical and probability related stuff as part of my job. The math wasn't wrong in 2016...well a bit, but the big problem was interpretation of the data. I think some have learned and all are at least wary of it.

We should just go with a national popular vote, way easier and more fair.
