The Search for Trip Weed

i have a strain called Durga Mata that we have found to be a trippy weed when gorwn to the 10th or 11th week...its normally a 8 weeker but by accident one was hiding behind other bigger plants and was left to 11 1/2 weeks well we had to flush it out and that took 10 days so it got picked around 13 weeks.....some of my buddies started call it NFTS..."No Fun To Smoke", but the reports back was if ya made some butter, then brownies, it was like takin Mushrooms, very trippy on its own but the brownies was unreal....

now i got these seeds at the HT cannabis cup in 2007, they were misplaced, lost a couple times, but after a few years found and since i only had 5 seeds left, gave them to a trusted friend who cracked them and we got 4 to germ, ended up with 2 males and 2 females...back crossed them and alos threw ina few other females awe had goin at the time and got some real nice strains....

word had it that Paradise seeds actually lost or misplaced the strain and no longer had them available so we did offer them seeds to replace it and they didnt seem interested so we gave them away to a seed broker in Europe who gave them away as a gift when ya bought other seeds from him...i currently have a nice Male and also a female available that friend has as a mom, and i will be doing another backcrosss in a couple months...when i do i will have beans ready to share with others....

in the meantime if ya can find any Durga Mata beans that is a great " trippy weed"...

RandyCalifornia - Thanks for the post with the picture. Nice plant! I think that is quite good looking with it's really clean buds. What few leaves that might get in the way of light getting to the bud are really skinny. I'd like to hear anything about the genetic lineage that you know about. Please keep us posted as it ripens, and the all important smoke report.

CalcioErba2004 - I have grown Durban Poison once, and it was not a good experience. It was terribly hermaphroditic, smelled like licorice but tasted harsh. Did not do a thing for me. I could have totally screwed up the grow, wouldn't be the first time, or got the seeds from a really bad source. I have heard so many excellent reports for Durban Poison, that I would be willing to try it again, if it came from a source that I trusted. I like the sound of "rollercoaster ride". I don't mind speedy weed at all. In fact, the next seeds I will probably plant are Jamaican Ganja, which if match my memory of the experience from way, way, back, is quite energetic/speedy/trippy. Thanks for the suggestion.

Crate,

I believe I have heard of Durga Mata or Durga something or other. If I remember correctly, it had the reputation that you are relaying. I'm going to research...

Interesting story about accidentally finding out about the improvement if let ripen longer. I had a similar experience with the Neville's Haze I loved. The first time I grew it, I let it go for what seemed like forever, probably 16 or 18 weeks hoping the buds would fill out, they never did, but found out they were excellent anyway. I next grow, I tried to be tricky and reduced the hours of daylight from 12/12 to 10/14 for the last month. It looked finished about two weeks earlier, but wasn't any good. I still reduce hours a tiny bit for plants that foxtail heavily, but I never go below approximately 11.25 hours of daylight anymore.

...some of my buddies started call it NFTS..."No Fun To Smoke"...

Ha! I'm not looking for everyday smoke. Sounds like what I like. I have to prepare when I smoke great weed. I don't want to be hung over, mentally distressed, or tired. I like to feel like I'm "in a safe place", and usually in nature and/or in good comapny. That is when I have a good experience.

I commend you for preserving, and doing your best to return and share with others. Please post pictures and reports about your grow with this strain here, if you have the time. Thanks for the information.

P.S. - Turns out, I was thinking of Mulanje Gold. Not even close.

You might really enjoy Ethiopian Highland. Special weed for special times. Not "knock out" gangster weed but special non the less.

Haile Selassie was emperor of Ethiopia 1892–1975
Ethiopian Highland was his wife's favorite, Empress Menen.

I had the pleasure of growing some of African Seeds offering.

Very, very nice.

That being said, I go way back.

I had Columbian pot once, in the late seventies, that had me flashing in and out. One second you are present and counted, and the next, well, somewhere else.

I had a Sour Diesel V1.5 that did that same thing. I love the sour of my V3 lines but they don't make me flash in and out. . .

Keep looking and smoking

G-Day All,

My Nanan-Bouclou showed itself as female, so that strain will make it to my flowering cabinet next. It is also smelling a bit lemony and perfume-like right now, and has some decent stretch to it. This is all relaxing my distress at how Indica looking its leaves are.

I wanted to show off another seedling that has pushed out some pistils and will flower along side the Nanan-Bouclou. It is a Zamaldelica again, but this time back crossed with a different lineage of Malawi Gold. My friend that gave it to me said that the Malawi Gold in it is an "up" version. I believe that the Malawi Gold in Golden Tiger and Zamaldelica is a selection that is more "dense" and couch-lock. I've heard that the Zamal in Zamaldelica is very dominant and more energetic. I'll see for myself soon enough, but I'm sure interested in different selection of Malawi in this genetically high Malawi percentage poly-hybrid.

There are definitely some Mexican genetics well worth looking through when in search of trippy bud. I live very close to the border and although 95% of everything that comes across it is garbage, a couple of decades ago you could still occasionally find something really special. It was always brick, but back in the day every once in a while you would get some spicy light lime green stuff with bright red hairs instead of the usual mind numbing brown garbage. Even though it was brick it had a wonderful upbeat, trippy buzz. The true treasure however was when a buddy grew out some seeds. It was a very lanky, super thin leafed sativa with wispy popcorn buds. It was amazingly electric and trippy smoke that I remember well even all these years later.

Out of the recent strains I have tried Destroyer is probably the closest I have found to that stuff although Destroyer isn't as trippy and leans more towards being very clean, stimulating and euphoric.

I've been smoking quality weed for 26 years.....and nothing is more trippy that my plain old Super Silver Haze. She's a 3 times Cannabis Cup winner, and she is still better than any haze variant I've seen on the market today. I can go into a room of growers, young or old and know that no one in that room has better weed than me...maybe as good...but not better. She's extremely psychedelic and extremely potent. 50 years from now she'll still be relevant if she's still around. IMO...go classic and not be disappointed. You can see picks of her in my albums too.

Beautiful plant ThaiB, what's the story on Nanan-Bouclou, I've not heard of it.

Greetings,

I know very little about Nanan-Bouclou except for the following details. I bought it from Southern Star Seeds, I believe from a breeder from S. Australia. It is supposed to be a cross between Papua New Guinea Gold and a Haitian strain. Described as all tropical very trippy strain.

Papua New Guinea Gold (PNG) is a strain that looks very Southeast Asian to me, and is held in very high regard by our Australian brethren, considered an par with or comparable to Thai. They would know, given their proximity to the area. I have read speculation that PNG might have been a building block of one or some of the Australians most famous strains, Old Mother Sativa, Mullumbimby Madness, etc.. That was good enough for me! I hope this does not stir any controversy, as I have no knowledge about it except that I think I may have read posts to this effect.

The Haitian part I'm even less sure about. I believe I have heard rumors that the New York City "Piff" or "Church Haze" strain might have originated in Haiti. I am concerned out how Indica it is looking, but I vaguely remember a post from someone claiming to have been growing "Church Haze" in Florida. I remember seeing the pictures posted and thinking that it was less sativa looking than I had imagined.

I'm using phrases and terms like "I believe", "vaguely", "I think", because I am old, do not remember everything well, and I'm too lazy to go back and research it again. The pictures I have seen of PNG and the reputation was enough to view it as a possible trip weed. With luck, we'll find out this year.

PNG i believe to be somthing that might help in your quest .I think places where indigenous tribes survive are great places to search .I think some african strains can fit the script

The NYC haze has had several claims on its lineage ,ive heard its from DR aswell as haiti ,Colombian x, Nevs NlHz Etc.When they figure out the testing maybe many mystery will be solved .

As for the NYC Haze ,I know ive said it before as many others have but this so called Piff in the last 10 yrs is not what we grew up smokin .Ive have videos with many Hazes ive ran threw far from all but many .while the pics are horrible quality ,its taken from my camera phone off my tv .Also keep in mind its not from an ICers plant to the jar its packaged shipped an thrown around like a club chick

Four diff buds ,the 2 Foxtailed i posted up before below

Much respect

@big herb u are exactly right about the "Piff" over the last 10 yrs, it's not the "church haze, "Piff" just seems like a commercial haze varietie, I believe maybe that can be found in SSH, but not the "Church", also @BH did you ever get any of the bags that were heat sealed labeled "knockout"with the two boxing gloves on it from the heights maybe 10yrs ago, I don't wanna write the the street on here but I'll just say St.Nick, most of the other places I had gotten the "church" from were from Post, Audobon,Academy,Broadway, again don't wanna right what the cross streets were, if posting the Ave's is no good then I will remove these also

Ever since the "Piff" has been around I haven't even bothered to go to the Heights, not sure if the "Church" is even around, I remember maybe in '99-2000 you could get an Oz for $450-500 of the "Church" never once found a seed

Honestly ive never seen nothin like that .But i use to ride that A train an chill on St Nic had fam on wadsworth .So im sure ive smoked whateva haze that was .The crew perferred the Golden/darker brown types more than the lighter greens .

You know the motto below

Yes that's how I remember the Haze from there as well, sometimes the smoke would still seem wet,I also remember, getting the "wood" near there as well as hash that was about the size of a match stick there, been nothing like that weed since, I remember taking round trip cabs to there going in the buildings and people coming down the stairs with shopping bags full of dimes and twenties of those varieties
I also remember the A-Black from 106 in Harlem as well, which was good but not the "church"

Sounds crazy to think back on numbers like but you speak the truth. Audubon most ive paid 500$ cant lie . Now Alot of this Diesel/kush hybrid bs is comin from Cali an Bc sold for half that now .But sadly the hype n demand caused more wide spread of medicore types than the fire Kush that hit hard in 06

Id pay every penny for some of that 2000 NYC haze

Below is what they were callin purple haze at one point ,i dubbed popcorn haze caz it was butter an golden in the ass .But lighter green on the outside
That same cat one day told me he had piff an i looked at him Crazy .Everyone trys to roll with the time

BigHerb - Thank you for the clarification. I tried to edit and find a way to strike through the "Piff", but could not. Your correction stands on it's own. I hope it is Church related for sure! I was smelling it again tonight, and I detect lemongrass, paraffin, and maybe burnt wood. I can't quite put my finger on it. However, I have been told that due to the reddish color in the stem, it is a PNG leaning pheno. The Haitian side is supposed green.

Thanks for your contribution,

ThaiBliss
