Hey, I'm only on Page 41 of 166, but I am thinking this qualifies me to be a member of the RKS FAN CLUB .

If that doesn't, then Inland Empire California 1980's should. Direct line out of Humboldt County for several years running. Everything that has been spoken of by the aficionados here is true.

Mostly hairless: Yes!
Spongy: Yes!
Purple Crystal Pheno with the RKS smell: Yes!
Lime Green stick to the bag if not purple: Yes!
Best weed ever smoked in 32 years? Yes!

Now I will read the other 120+ pages and hope it's available again.
i would love to get some of that:):)

Please don't do selection on the line. Just open pollinate with as many as possible, then do selections from those if you feel you want to do something with it.

I wish you luck brother, for all our sake.
i will be popping these soon im super busy with outdoor season currently im not sure i will be able to do the seeding of these plants i grow indoor and cant have a chance of any male pollen anywhere near my room.although it would be a pretty cool mix we will save that for later first things first i must complete my outdoor.

Thanks Ozza for that clarification. But as one reads through the thread it could be easily misconstrued that way, esspecialy the newer folks so I wanted to put that there. I really like how everyone here has created an atmosphere towards helping the new folks learn and the older growers as well, we can all learn something new everyday. Y'all have a good 'un Wolf :tiphat:
BTW, Friendly did ya get those beans to pop? or have you tried yet?
Hey SMOKINGWOLF i did not try to pop the seeds yet as i have been busy with my outdoor garden i am getting really close and i also play to start a tread for each strain or i may try to bunch them in one thread i smoke a fair share of weed and i type pretty slow. heres a pic check out these old tupperware containers there's about 50 seeds per container

Yeah, you remember it! That's the ticket! I read the whole thread and it was well worth it, as I fondly remember growing and smoking it as well. :tiphat:

From Michael Backes, Author of "Cannabis Pharmacy":

The strongest unpleasant aroma of cannabis: the "skunk" smell, is likely due to the metabolic product of a precursor to acetyl coenzyme A. This precursor fragment is extremely pungent, reminiscent of sewer gas. To the best of my knowledge, no one has found the actual thiols associated with skunk spray on cannabis. I heard a funny and true story about a cannabis grower in Los Angeles who bought a gram of actual skunk spray to enhance the aroma of his harvested buds. It did not have a happy ending...

It's cool. Do what you gotta do. Just don't any selection. Use all possible plants.

So, I read 165 or 166 pages to fund out a dude down the street from me is popping high end, labeled beans from the 80's? Incredible! Good luck Friendly.

No guarantees here, but I have about 300 old bagseeds from the 80's to early 90's. One contanier was "Mexican", the other was "Indica/Kush". We have some of the Mexican going, and oddly enough one is a pure Indica looking plant that reeks of Skunk 2 weeks in. I have some of the Indica/Kush seeds cracked, not up yet.

Here's to hoping for everyone's success in bringing back old school, real Skunk.

17-18 years ago we got some packs from Mexico via Tucson AZ. They were not the regular tight press, pressed but lightly. The color was lime green with a yellowish tint. The nugs were golf ball size/shape. The nose was skunk as in skunk spray. An eighth in a Ziploc would stink up the whole house/store/car, the flavor was almost sweet. The nugs had maybe 2-3 seeds each with many all but seedless. It was by far the best border weed we ever bought and to this day not saving seeds from that batch was one of the bigger mistakes Ive ever made. Only one other time did I experience the roadkill and I like the rest of you would do almost anything to add her to the stable. The UK Cheese had a similar part but more like saying Bubba in Sour Bubble. Sour Dub and some of the OG and Cheese from seed are as close as Ive got but still only partly the same. I pray to the weed gods that she come home. 1:ying:

I find the Chem varieties crossed with OG are in the right ballpark.. Deadhead OG, Motorbreath and Daybreaker get me kind of close, a note here and there, of a sweet song from yesteryear.

I've noticed this as well, but as much as the buzz can be enjoyable from those - it's nowhere near what I remember from the Skunk I enjoyed in high school. I should add it is entirely possible the skunk I had was a haze skunk hybrid as it was very very sativa dom with fluffy buds - but bright lime green and definitively reeked like a skunk.

Just incredible weed. Got people higher than they thought they could even go. I miss it to this day. Sugar Punch is the closest I've come buzz wise but it's not a skunky variety.

Yeah, I'd say there's some sort of skunk influence in the diesel/chem lines, depending on the pheno.

There's a local sour d cut that smells really skunky and almost has the reek from a distance, but when you get close and smell directly you get more of the soury fuel aroma. But if someone walks by it smells like a skunk just crossed your path!

I never had Skunky smelling Mexican weed...growing up in Washington state spoiled i never even seen Mexican weed ever. Skunk weed was so lime green it was almost neon looking, it was exotic to say the least. From what i have gathered Mexican weed looks and smells like ass all the time....i have a hard time believing that Skunk came from Mexico...

I looked on leafy and 2 dispensaries claim to have RKS one is from from Everette Washington so i gave them a call, they only had grams of it and the guy by law couldn't crack a seal and tell me if it really smelled like RKS...i tried to explain the situation to the kid but he was young and just didn't understand. The search continues.

I used to get the same smoke described above when I was living in Tucson. Believe it it don't, but there was actually some decent bud coming out of Mexico in the late 90's early 00's.We called it pretendica: Non compressed nice buds with a loud funky smell and maybe 2-3 seeds to an oz. I wouldn't go so far as to call it road kill, but definitely skunk-ish. At 3-500/lb it was very profitable sending it back east and it was as good or better than the Canadian beasters that were prevalent back then. 9/11 put the brakes on the mail order thing for me as homeland security tightened their grip. I never would have been able to mail the true old skunk even before all that. I hope one day when I pop into this thread some one has sourced a clone or popped some old(or new) seed of that true old road kill skunk so we can see if it was really as good as we remember or if we are just waxing poetic about a simpler time in canna history. I've read that smell is the sense that is most connected to memory, when I drive by a dead skunk so many memories come rushing back. Nostalgic to say the least.:D

How would it be hard to believe RKS could come from Mexico when you've never tried Mexican weed? TBH I would guess Road Kill Skunk more than likely was bag seed from these good batches of mexi weed grown right and processed correctly. Take a read through the thread, I'm sure without doing so that I am one of many with these memories. As one of the posters above mentioned there was a fair amount of "pretendica". Mexican weed is as good as the genetics started with, skill and almost above all how it is processed! You will always go further with an open mind SkunkyPuffs. 1:ying:

We used to get similar crap from vancouver bc except we called it deceptacron, the hells angles were washing dank buds in huge industrial washing machines and making water hash then sending that washed shit down to us, fuckboys were kayaking that shit into the states! we wouldn't smoke that, only skunky or piney smelling weed and it was 90% of the time skunky smelling weed.
