You feel free to give out your cut to whoever and I’m glad this Daz guy impresses you lol but I have to ask how the hell autos and fems have anything to do with preserving this line? Turning the line away from being photoperiod and shifting towards auto would be a truly foolish step in the breeding process to save this strain. This was a photoperiod and to properly save its generic lineage it needs to stay that way.

At that point you’re not saving anything. The lines never been an auto and ducking around with trying to to turn it into one certainly isnt going to broaden the pheno pool and open it up to breeders in the public. Autos are literally a money grab for short easy yields (not quality). This is just my two cents here but look at the difference between Zamaldelica and the auto version ace put out. Garbage comparatively but hey if autos move the needle for you who am I to cast shade. I just got the impression you wanted to preserve the line for breeders not give it to some bloke to mass produce a watered down commercial version in auto form.

I agree in that this strain should remain as is and unadulterated. Reverse it and make beans.

With so many seed companies popping up its hard to keep track of them. Honestly, I haven't heard over half of them.. @Jonestown88 did mention earlier that he had a difficult time drumming up interest with breeders.. granted, it has been many years since the term 'skunk' has been thrown around and its meaning can get diluted. In my experience, there is only one Skunk Bud.

The seed bank that I have been dealing with here is NASC. A quick search I found:

Even though I never heard of this breeder until now there appears some legitimacy. Maybe Daz is the only cat to take Jonesy up on his offer. Yet, I would implore Daz to keep this strain pure (at least at first before any cross breeding).

I, for one, still offer my services to the cannabis community in positively identifying it as The Real McCoy.

I don’t know anything about the other commenters skunk as I haven’t grown a true skunk in 15 plus years. It disappeared in the Seattle area a long time ago for me. I’m more of a Sat guy anyways but I do remember the skunk fondly.

Thanks for confirming Nightowl, I’m truly glad it’s going to someone legit. But I stand by my auto comment as it would be truly despicable not to save the RKS in true form.

For sure man. He does great work with autos. I agree that if it is what they say it is, photoperiod preservation would be the ideal way to preserve it.

I offered to cross it to my super skunk line and or this old Afghan line i got from NDN guy. Assuming the cut is actually a roadkill type.

I'm not a peddler of anything. I am in no way involved in any monetary gain in the weed scene and have zero desire to do so. I'm just a regular dude that shares my life's experiences. At 56 I have packed more life into this timeframe than others. Not trying to be a braggart but I have been through some unbelievable sh!t... and still alive to talk about it.

I'd love to see that happen. You have the passion to see it through, no doubt about it.

I grew up in a small "drug town" in Mendocino County and remember skunk quite well. Around 79-82, it seems that was practically what everyone in our hills were growing, but that was what was selling. We just called it skunk; there was no rks and I didn't even hear the name Skunk #1; it was just skunk and it was everywhere in the hills being grown. There were dark green, light green and even purple skunks. It was all skunk and it didn't seem to matter how many bags you put it in, people could still smell it. Even after smoking it, the smell lingered so bad. As good as it was though, people were already breeding Indicas with Sativa. There were new hybrids coming out all the time, some would say better than Skunk without the smell. We were getting Indicas and Sativa from all over the world at that time and people in the hills were breeding a lot of new hybrids. No one I knew was growing pure Sativa by that time, unless it was for personal smoke or breeding. Indica and hybrids really took over at that time.

I'd love to smoke some skunk again, just for the nostalgia I guess. I'm mostly an outdoor grower and I'm sure my neighbors would kill me if I were growing it.

I respectfully think that is opinion and not fact. I live on the east coast by the way, so I know what the animal smells like. Dead and the spray. Sulfurous yes. Garlic and onion, idk about all that. We can agree to disagree lol
